Kwara State University Appoints Jimba and Adam as Deputy Vice-Chancellors
MALETE — The Governing Council of the Kwara State University (KWASU) has officially ratified the appointments of Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba and Professor Shehu Usman Adam as the institution’s new Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
The ratification follows their nominations by the University Senate during its 67th (Special) meeting held on July 30, 2026.
According to their appointment letters, dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Wasilah Sallee, the two-year appointments will take effect on August 13, 2026.
Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba, a renowned Professor of Arabic Language and Literature, has been reappointed as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, following a meritorious first two-year term.
Since joining KWASU in 2012, Prof. Jimba has held numerous key leadership roles within the university, including Head of Department, Director of the Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, before his initial appointment as DVC in 2024.
Beyond the university walls, Prof. Jimba has served as the Chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board and currently serves as the Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, a position he was appointed to by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2023.
Professor Shehu Usman Adam steps into the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic. Prior to this elevation, he served as the Director of Consultancy Services at the university. He also previously held the position of Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences.
Prof. Adam joined KWASU as an Associate Professor in 2022 and was promoted to full Professor on October 1, 2025. An expert in his field, he holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
These high-level administrative appointments are expected to further strengthen KWASU's academic and operational frameworks as the institution continues its drive toward educational excellence and community development.
