DISCLAIMER AND REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION REGARDING A VIRAL SOCIAL MEDIA VIDEO

The Office of the late Naqeebul Ashraaf, Sheikh Alhaji Abdullah Salaty (Rahimahullah), together with the Ashraafiyah Salaty Family Worldwide, wishes to issue this official statement concerning a video that appeared on various social media platforms on 8 June 2026 and has subsequently generated public discussion within sections of the Muslim community.
At the outset, we wish to reaffirm our profound respect, admiration, and appreciation for Fadeelatu Sheikh Muhammad Robiu Adebayo (Baba Loworo), one of the most distinguished Islamic scholars and spiritual leaders in West Africa. His lifelong dedication to the propagation of Islam, spiritual guidance, moral development, and service to humanity has earned him the respect of countless Muslims across Nigeria and around the world.
Our late father, Sheikh Alhaji Abdullah Salaty (Rahimahullah), consistently spoke of Sheikh Muhammad Robiu Adebayo (Baba Loworo) with great respect and esteem. Throughout his lifetime, he maintained cordial relations with numerous Islamic scholars, including Sheikh Baba Loworo. Their relationship was characterized by mutual respect, scholarly brotherhood, and shared commitment to the advancement of Islam.
It is well known to members of both communities that the two respected scholars met on several occasions at Islamic gatherings and events. They also exchanged visits in a spirit of friendship and mutual regard. Among the memorable occasions known to our family was a visit by our late father to Sheikh Baba Loworo’s residence in Oworo, Lagos, where both scholars spent time together in a warm and respectful atmosphere. Such interactions reflected the strong bond and mutual esteem that existed between them.
Recently, however, our attention was drawn to a video circulated online by an individual reportedly associated with the circle of Sheikh Baba Loworo. In the video, a statement was made suggesting that the late Naqeebul Ashraaf, Sheikh Abdullah Salaty (Rahimahullah), had approached Sheikh Baba Loworo for the purpose of obtaining validation or Ijazah.
This statement has generated considerable confusion among followers, students, family members, and admirers of the late scholar.
Following careful review, the Office of Naqeebul Ashraaf Salaty wishes to state that we are unable to verify the accuracy of this claim. To the best of our knowledge and based on available records and family accounts, the statement does not reflect our understanding of the relationship and interactions that existed between both respected scholars.
We wish to further clarify that, as of the date of this statement, we have not received any direct confirmation from Fadeelatu Sheikh Muhammad Robiu Adebayo (Baba Loworo) personally regarding the claim contained in the video.
In the interest of preserving historical accuracy, preventing misunderstanding, and maintaining the unity and harmony of the Muslim Ummah, we respectfully request that the speaker responsible for the statement provide further clarification regarding the remarks attributed to our late father.
We wish to emphasize that this statement is not intended as a criticism of Sheikh Baba Loworo, whom we continue to hold in the highest regard. Rather, it is a necessary effort to safeguard the integrity, reputation, and historical legacy of the late Naqeebul Ashraaf while ensuring that public narratives concerning respected Islamic figures remain accurate and properly verified.
The Office of Naqeebul Ashraaf Salaty further reminds members of the public, religious organizations, media practitioners, researchers, and content creators that any information relating to the life, teachings, spiritual activities, scholarly engagements, or historical legacy of Sheikh Alhaji Abdullah Salaty (Rahimahullah) should be verified through appropriate and authorized channels prior to publication or public dissemination.
We remain committed to fostering unity, mutual respect, and constructive engagement among Islamic scholars, institutions, and followers across the Muslim world.
We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants continued good health, wisdom, protection, and long life to Fadeelatu Sheikh Muhammad Robiu Adebayo (Baba Loworo) and blesses his efforts in the service of Islam.
We also pray for divine guidance, success, and strength for the successor of the Naqeebul Ashraaf, Fadeelatu Sheikh Ahmad Rufai Salaty (Naqeebul Ashraaf II), and for the continued growth and prosperity of the Ashraafiyah community worldwide.
May Almighty Allah unite our hearts upon truth, strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among Muslim scholars, and grant peace, progress, and spiritual excellence to the entire Muslim Ummah.
