Aspiring to Perfection As Commanded

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48)

We weren’t created to be "just okay." In the beginning, God formed us in His own image and declared us “very good” (Gen 1:31). We started in perfection and eternal life until sin dimmed the light—but God never lowered His standard.

To restore us, He sent the Perfect Man as our redeemer and role model. He gave us the ministry “for the perfecting of the saints” (Eph 4:12). If perfection were impossible, God wouldn't command it!

Think of Christ as your "looking glass." As we behold Him, we are changed into that same image from glory to glory. It is possible to reach the “measure of the stature of Christ.”

The Partnership:

Our Job: Work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

His Job: Dwell within us and change us until we are "very good" again.

God told Abraham, “Walk before me, and be thou perfect.” Today, you can catch that same spirit of excellence. Even in the heat of the furnace, the Fourth Man is walking with you (Dan 3:25).

Brothers and sisters, don't settle. God said you can, so believe Him. Be good. 🙌✨

If This Doesn’t Look Like Christmas, Shine The Light of Thanks

Let me tell you a story.
Sometime around a Christmas like this, Sister Biodun moved into a boring street in Ilorin. She looked around her street and sighed.

Not like her Lagos at all. Everywhere was dry. No flashy decorations. No booming parties. Just ordinary homes and ordinary people. It didn’t look like Christmas at all… or so she thought.

She was sad and to crown it all, she had no money, only a little half bag of rice at home, and some fish. But instead of letting that discourage her, she heard the Holy Spirit say “Be thankful.” So started thanking God for what she had. She took her small rice, added dry pepper made some spicy hot “asepo” (concoction) jollof with plenty onions. She put it in a cooler and began to share with her neighbors.

And something amazing happened. That joy began to spread. Somebody brought out a wifi player and started playing heavy music. Neighbors who had little began coming out to see what was happening. One person brought out a crate of freezing cold drinks.

Even cranky old Madam Caro put on a conical Christmas cap with flashing lights. Someone else brought out firecrackers and began to put them on and give the children. Soon the kids were running around excitedly. Smiles appeared where there had been frowns.

And before long, laughter and thanksgiving filled the street—not because of wealth, but because of thankfulness and love.
Beloved, Christmas is not measured by how much money, decorations we have or how big the parties we throw are.

Christmas is about love, gratitude, and sharing the little we have.
Today, wherever you are, shine the light of thanks. Your small act of gratitude can ignite joy in the hearts of many.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Let’s make this Christmas count, not by what we spend, but by what we give from the heart.

Misused Tools of Nation Building

Raphael Kunle Ajayi

All over the world, advanced societies carefully build a reward system and incentives to push the values they intend to build.

Hi**er built the German as a superior race and gave the Volkswagen as the minimum that a German should drive. America built it's society on equality and gave gun rights so everyone can defend himself. Thus, even dangerous freedoms were directed at societal balance not chaos. The United Kingdom built itself as a society where men think to better living standards, and gave awards and recognition for extending the frontiers of life.

But as Nigerians, we always miss the purpose of these valuable things because we built our society on wealth and moneymaking, and it causes us to misuse the reward systems and incentives of the advanced countries.

Thus we misuse cars and those who use our transportation system are viewed as low life. We misuse guns and give them even to law enforcement and selected thugs to oppress ourselves. The natural reason for documenting records is to create an incentive for excellence to be copied. Hence whatever we celebrate spurs replication and determines our new land marks.

But we give N10,000 to academic achievers, and billions to cross dressers, reality tv nudists and near naked idols. By this we tell our youths, loud and clear, what is worth striving for — a certificate of nudity pays more than a certificate of learning.

Our social media successes shows our warped senses of humour. We are bored easily by wit and creativity but spurred organically and hysterically by any prank that includes, rawness, vawulence and violence. Why will someone going around slapping people make us laugh, or an underage boy with a girlfriend his senior amuse? What is funny about foreign returnee pretending to be an invalid the first time he is meeting a remote date? What is good about pursuing people with garri and when they reject it, money falls out of it? These are things that we consume mentally and spiritually. The things reflect our true national nature and we are guinea pigs in an internet reality show with an opportunity to socially re-engineer our society by monetisation..

As Zuckerberg, Musk, Bezos and others mint billionaires out of our misaligned content creators, they also compile a living archive of our national psyche — a mirror of what we truly are. We may think we are merely laughing at pranks and scandals, but in reality, we are documenting for the world, and for history, the spiritual poverty of a nation. When the archaeologists of the future dig up our ruins, they will not find pyramids, cathedrals, or libraries. They will find hashtags. And they will know exactly why we fell..
