Theme :Christ Revealed: Covenant Joy, Abundant Grace, and the Gifts of the Spirit”
1. HYMN: AT THE NAME OF JESUS. Author: Caroline M.Noel (1870). Tune: EVELYNS Composed by William Henry Monk. Meter: 6.5.6.5.D. Key: F Major
Historical Note
Caroline Noel wrote this hymn during a prolonged period of illness. Though physically weak, her faith soared as she reflected on Christ’s exaltation from humility to glory. The tune KING’S WESTON, adapted by Vaughan Williams from a folk melody, gives the hymn a noble and confident character.
Short Exhortation
At Cana, Jesus quietly revealed His glory. This hymn calls us to recognise that same Lordship today—Christ exalted, yet still working gently to transform lives.
1. At the name of Jesus 3. In your hearts enthrone him!
Ev'ry knee shall bow, There let him subdue
Ev'ry tongue confess him All that is not holy,
King of glory now; All that is not true.
'Tis the Father's pleasure Crown him as your Captain,
We should call him Lord, In temptation's hour;
Who from the beginning Let his will enfold you
Was the mighty Word. In its light and pow'r.
2. Humbled for a season 4. Kindred, this Lord Jesus
To receive a name Shall return again
From the lips of sinners, With his Father's glory,
Amongst whom he came. With his angel train,
Faithfully he bore it, For all wreaths of empire
Spotless to the last, Meet upon his brow,
Brought it back victorious And our hearts confess him
When from death he passed. King of glory now.

2. JESUS, THOU JOY OF LOVING HEARTS. Author: Bernard of Clairvaux (12th century) translated by Ray Palmer. Tune: QUEBEC. Composer: François H. Barthélémon . Meter: 8.8.8.8. Organ Key: E. Major
Historical Note
Rooted in medieval devotion, this hymn reflects Bernard’s deep theology of Christ as the soul’s supreme joy. Ray Palmer’s translation preserved its warmth and intimacy. The tune QUEBEC has become cherished for its gentle, prayerful character.
Short Exhortation
When the wine ran out at Cana, human joy failed—but Christ restored it. True joy is not found in abundance of things, but in the abiding presence of Jesus.
1. Jesus, Thou joy of loving hearts, 3. We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread,
Thou fount of life, Thou light of men, And long to feast upon Thee still;
From the best bliss that earth imparts, We drink of Thee, the Fountain-head,
We turn unfilled to Thee again. And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.
2. Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood; 4 Our restless spirits yearn for Thee,
Thou savest those that on Thee call; Where'er our changeful lot is cast;
To them that seek Thee, Thou art good, Glad when Thy gracious smile we see,
To them that find Thee all in all. Blest when our faith can hold Thee fast.
5 O Jesus, ever with us stay,
Make all our moments calm and bright;
Chase the dark night of sin away;
Shed o'er the world Thy holy light.

3. COME, HOLY GHOST, OUR HEARTS INSPIRE. Author: Latin hymn (Veni Creator Spiritus),translated by John Cosin.Tune: LAMBETH. Composer: Traditional French melody. Meter: 8.8.8.8. Key: F Major
Historical Note
This is one of the oldest hymns of the Church, dating back to the 9th century. It has been sung at ordinations, confirmations, and great moments of renewal throughout Christian history.
Short Exhortation
The miracle at Cana points beyond itself to the Spirit who empowers the Church. As Paul teaches, the same Spirit gives different gifts for the common good.
1. Come Holy Ghost, our hearts inspire; 3 . Expand Thy wings, Celestial Dove;
Let us Thine influence prove; Brood o'er our nature's night;
Source of the old prophetic fire; On our disordered spirits move,
Fountain of life and love. And let there now be light.
2. Come, Holy Ghost, for moved by Thee4 God, through Himself, we then shall know,
The prophets wrote and spoke: If Thou within us shine;
Unlock the truth, Thyself the key; And sound, with all Thy saints below,
Unseal the sacred book. The depths of love divine.

4. HYMN: O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISED. Author: John Ernest Bode (1869). Tune: THORNBURY Composer: Arthur Henry Mann. Meter: 7.6.7.6.D. Key: D Major
Historical Note
Written for the confirmation of Bode’s children, this hymn became a timeless expression of Christian commitment and discipleship, widely used across Anglican and Methodist traditions.
Short Exhortation
Epiphany not only reveals Christ to us - it calls for a response. This hymn is our pledge of faithfulness to follow Christ wherever He leads.
1. O Jesus, I have promised 3. O let me hear Thee speaking
To serve Thee to the end; In accents clear and still,
Be Thou forever near me, Above the storms of passion,
My Master and my Friend; The murmurs of self-will;
I shall not fear the battle O speak to reassure me,
If Thou art by my side, To hasten or control!
Nor wander from the pathway O speak, and make me listen,
If Thou wilt be my Guide. Thou Guardian of my soul!
2 O let me feel Thee near me, 4 O Jesus, Thou hast promised
The world is ever near; To all who follow Thee
I see the sights that dazzle, That where Thou art in glory
The tempting sounds I hear; There shall Thy servant be;
My foes are ever near me, And, Jesus, I have promised
Around me and within; To serve Thee to the end;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, O give me grace to follow,
And shield my soul from sin. My Master and my Friend!

5. HYMN: PRAISE, MY SOUL, THE KING OF HEAVEN. Author: Henry Francis Lyte. Tune: LAUDA ANIMA. Composer: John Goss. Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.7. Key: D Major.
Historical Note
Lyte paraphrased Psalm 103 in this majestic hymn. John Goss’s tune gives it grandeur, making it one of the most beloved hymns of praise in English hymnody.
Short Exhortation
Psalm 36 reminds us that God’s mercy reaches to the heavens. As Christ’s glory is revealed, the Church responds with joyful and confident praise.
1. Praise, my soul, the King of heaven; 3. Fatherlike he tends and spares us;
To his feet your tribute bring. Well our feeble frame he knows.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, In his hand he gently bears us,
Evermore his praises sing. Rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King! Widely yet his mercy flows!
2. Praise him for his grace and favor 4 Angels, help us to adore him;
To his people in distress. Ye behold him face to face.
Praise him, still the same as ever, Sun and moon, bow down before him,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless. Dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, alleluia! Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in his faithfulness! Praise with us the God of grace!
Psalter Hymnal, (Gray)
6. WORD OF REFLECTION
A brief meditation on Christ’s glory revealed in ordinary life- water turned to wine, weakness turned to joy, and the Church empowered by the Spirit.
7. VESPA : ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Tune: Stamford
Reflection:
The God who revealed His glory at Cana continues to act today. Where Christ is welcomed, transformation is always possible.
1. All things are possible to him 3. Though earth and Hell the word gainsay,
That can in Jesus’ name believe; The word of God can never fail;
Lord, I no mote thy truth blaspheme, The Lamb shall take my sins away,
Thy truth I lovingly receive; ‘Tis certain, though impossible;
I can, I do believe in thee; The thing impossible shall be,
All things are possible to me. All things are possible to me.
2. The most impossible of all 4 When thou the work of faith hast wrought,
Is that I e’er from sin should cease; I here shall in thine image shine,
Yet shall it be; I know it shall; Nor sin in deed or word or thought;
Jesus, look to thy faithfulness! Let men exclaim and fiends repine,
If nothing is too hard for thee, They cannot break the firm decree;
All things are possible to me. All things are possible to me.
5. All things are possible to God,
To Christ, the power of God in man,
To me, when I am all renewed,
When I in Christ am formed again,
And witness, from all sin set free,
All things are possible to me.
