Ebenezer Anglican Church, Uloen, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, celebrated its 70th anniversary. The celebration was a thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness, preservation, and numerous blessings upon the church and the Uloen community over the years. The event brought together church leaders, government representatives, traditional rulers, community leaders, members of the congregation, invited guests, and well-wishers.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Uloen Christian Achievers’ Award and Posthumous Leadership Achievers’ Award, which recognised individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth of the Christian faith, the church, and the Uloen community.
The anniversary also features as fundraising campaign towards the construction of a new church building. Members, dignitaries, friends of the church, and well-wishers were encouraged to support the project as part of their commitment to the continued growth and development of the church.
During the sermon, the Bishop of the Diocese of Ile-Oluji, The Rt. Rev. Abel Oluyemi Ajibodu, PhD, expressed his appreciation to the Royal Father, HRM J. A. Adeyoyenu, as well as the people of Uloen, Lipanu and Ola communities, for their support and hospitality.
The Bishop acknowledged the grace of God and the intervention of the government in the development of the road leading to Uloen Community. He also highlighted the ongoing road project along the Bamikemo–Uloen axis and appealed to relevant stakeholders and well-meaning individuals to support the completion of the project for the benefit of the community.
Reflecting on the 70th anniversary of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Uloen, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State the Bishop gave thanks to God for His faithfulness and for bringing the church to its present position over the years. He drew attention to the anniversary theme, “EBENEZER,” and its sub-theme, “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12).
Dwelling on the Scripture passage, the Bishop encouraged the congregation to recognize God’s faithfulness, acknowledge His help, and continually depend on Him. He emphasized the importance of repentance, prayer, and maintaining a genuine relationship with God. He also reminded the congregation of the power and importance of prayer in the life of every believer.
The Bishop appreciated everyone who had contributed to the expansion and development of the church building. He prayed that God would richly bless and reward all those who had supported the project.
Citing Acts 16:9, the Bishop emphasized that everyone needs a helper at different stages of life. He prayed that God would send divine helpers to the congregation and that their prayers would not experience delay.
He further encouraged everyone to be a source of help to those around them, especially people in need, reminding the congregation of the importance of showing love and extending a helping hand to others. He prayed that, just as Paul received help through the Macedonian call, divine helpers would locate the people.
In his prayers, the Bishop prayed against sickness and every form of affliction, declaring God’s healing and protection upon the congregation. He also prayed that the people would never lack good things and that God’s blessings would continually be evident in their lives.
In conclusion, the Bishop appreciated everyone who travelled from near and far to join the church in celebrating its 70th anniversary. He prayed for God’s continued faithfulness, blessings, protection, and progress upon the church, its members, the community, and all those who had contributed to the success of the anniversary celebration.
The programme was marked by thanksgiving, prayers, worship, appreciation, and celebration of God’s faithfulness. The anniversary served as a reminder of the church’s journey so far and its confidence in God’s continued help for the future.
