I stumbled on a friend who stopped talking to me without an explanation. Despite all my efforts to know why and apologize if I had wronged her, she just refused to respond to my messages and chats, nor pick my calls. I was quite hurt but with time I just let her be.
So I was invited to speak at a conference, and as I walked into the venue, I saw her. As we embraced, she said "I Love you Mae". I responded in a whisper "NO YOU DON'T".
The reason I so candidly rebuked her deception is because I couldn't allow myself to believe LOVE JUST WALKS AWAY without explanation. THAT IS NOT LOVE!
So someone I haven’t spoken to in years was in my inbox asking if all is well, according to him, because of the wedding gown post. And then he said, ‘you know I am still your friend and I still care about you’.
I responded, ‘no you are not my friend and you do not care about me. I feel you only said that to get chummy with me enough to say what you seek to hear, which doesn’t exist. And If you are my friend you would know the post was nothing but humour. And you wouldn’t have to ask if anything was going on, you’d already know’.
The older I get, the less inclined I am to butter people up or let them butter me up just so they can achieve their aims. I don’t know how to be that person anymore, she’s dead!
Overtime I've had people come and go in my life and I've just learned to never hold on to people that much. I've long ago categorized the people in my life:
1. There are the leaves: They are there with you through some seasons especially when things are sunny, and when the storms of life hit, they wither away and are soon gone. They are what I call seasonal people (NEVER make Lifetime decisions with them).
2. There are the Branches: This ones appear sturdy, they are there for the world to see. It is so easy to be fooled by this ones because of how long they tend to hang around (Believe me I've been fooled often time). But when the storms of life hit, you'd think you can rest on them, but the moment you do, they break and leave you stranded. Some of these sets of people grow up to be Roots, but just few. They are more interested in people seeing them with you than they are in actually being there for you.
3. There are the ROOTS: They are the rare kinds. Never concerned about being seen. They are often the silent people who will go to the end of the world for you. If you are fortunate to have them in your life, NEVER take them for granted (Because we often do). There kinds are indeed RARE!
4. Then there are the fruits: These ones are as a result of how we handled the leaves, the branches and the roots. God often bring them along to reward us for all our labour of love.
it is important to focus on taking and loving people for who they are. If they choose to stay, continue to love and remain loyal to them and if they choose to leave, love them from a distance. But it is not your job to force yourself on anyone.
Good morning . Arise, Shine and Love You. Have the most amazing day and weekend. You truly have no limit. stumbled on a friend who stopped talking to me without an explanation.
