THE NEW ME IN CHRIST JESUS
By: ELDER UNYIME CHRISTOPHER

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

A new life in Christ Jesus is a life of transformation. It means leaving behind the old nature, old ways, and limitations and embracing the new identity that Christ gives us. The newness we receive in Christ should be evident in every area of our lives.

DIMENSIONS OF NEWNESS

1. Spiritual Rebirth – Acts 2:1–4
Newness begins in the spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, we receive new strength, new passion, and the grace to live according to God's will.

2. Mercy and Favour – Psalm 102:13
Newness brings us into a fresh dimension of God's mercy and favour. God's mercy can turn situations around and cause us to experience His goodness in unexpected ways.

3. Unlimited Health
In Christ, we can trust God for healing, strength, preservation, and wholeness. Our bodies and lives are under the care of the One who gives life.

4. Dimension of Covenant
Our new life in Christ gives us access to God's covenant promises. We must know His Word, believe His promises, and walk faithfully in the covenant.

5. Peace
The new man in Christ does not have to be controlled by fear, worry, or anxiety. Jesus gives us a peace that remains even when circumstances are difficult.

6. Wealth and Provision
God's newness also brings opportunities for provision, increase, and fruitfulness. He gives us the wisdom, strength, favour, and ability to prosper and become a blessing to others.

The new me must reflect the new life I have received in Christ. Old things have passed away; I must now walk consciously in the reality of God's newness.

THEME: LIVING IN THE REALITY OF GOD’S NEWNESS
By: Pastor Edidiong Etuk

God’s newness is not merely a one-time experience; it is a daily reality. In Isaiah 43:18–19, God calls His people not to dwell on the former things because He is doing something new. Through Christ, we become new creations, as stated in 2 Corinthians 5:17. Therefore, we must learn to recognise, embrace, and live in the newness that God brings into our lives.

One of the greatest obstacles to experiencing God's newness is remaining trapped in the past. Failures, disappointments, regrets and painful experiences can influence our present decisions and prevent us from moving forward. We must therefore learn to release what belongs to yesterday. Philippians 3:13–14 teaches us to forget those things which are behind and reach forward to what lies ahead. Our past may explain where we came from, but it should not determine where God is taking us.

We must also understand who we are in Christ. Our identity is not defined by our failures, circumstances or past experiences. In Christ, we are new creations. This understanding gives us the confidence to move forward, knowing that God has chosen and redeemed us for His purpose.

Living in the reality of God's newness also requires a renewed mind. Romans 12:2 teaches that transformation comes through the renewing of our minds. We must allow God's Word to change the way we think and help us abandon mindsets and patterns that belong to the old life. A new life requires a new way of thinking.

However, we cannot effectively live this new life by human strength alone. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live according to God's will. Acts 1:8 reminds us that we receive power through the Holy Spirit. This power enables us to live differently, overcome limitations and fulfil the purpose God has given us. God's newness is therefore not simply an experience we have in church; it should become a daily reality through our fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

The anointing is also connected with God's purpose for our lives. Exodus 30:30 speaks of anointing and setting people apart for service. The anointing is not merely for personal experience or emotional excitement; it is an empowerment to serve God and fulfil His assignment. Acts 1:8 speaks of power and authority, while Isaiah 10:27 speaks of the yoke being destroyed because of the anointing.

Ultimately, God wants us to move beyond merely surviving and begin living purposefully in Him. John 10:10 reminds us that Christ came so that we might have life abundantly. We must therefore stop allowing the limitations of yesterday to control our lives today. We are called to renew our minds, walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, embrace God's newness and allow His anointing to equip us for His purpose.

God is doing a new thing. The old has passed away, and the new has come. Our responsibility is to let go of the past, renew our minds, walk with the Holy Spirit and boldly step into the purpose God has prepared for us.

Theme: Becoming New in Christ Jesus
By: Elder (Engr) Emmanuel Bassey

Text: Isaiah 43:19

Our God is a God of new beginnings. In Isaiah 43:19, He declares, "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth." This is a promise that no situation is beyond God's power to transform. Regardless of our past failures, disappointments, or weaknesses, God is able to make all things new. His desire is not merely to improve our old life but to give us a completely new life through Jesus Christ.

The newness that God offers is for those who truly belong to Him. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Being a child of God is not about moving from one church to another or merely bearing the name "Christian." It is about worshipping God in spirit and in truth, living a life that pleases Him, and keeping our hearts focused on our eternal home.

To experience this divine newness, we must walk in obedience to God's Word. Galatians 6:7 reminds us that God is not mocked; whatever a person sows, that he will also reap. We cannot continue in sinful ways and expect the blessings of a transformed life. God has entered into a covenant with His people, and He calls us to remain faithful, holy, and steadfast in our relationship with Him.

We must also learn to trust the Lord completely. Isaiah 40:31 assures us that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles. Trusting God brings strength, deliverance, and victory over every challenge. Our God is abundantly able to save, restore, and establish everyone who depends on Him.

Finally, becoming new in Christ is a process of spiritual transformation. It is not about becoming perfect overnight but about allowing the Holy Spirit to renew our thoughts, emotions, words, and actions every day. As we continue to walk by faith, God shapes us into the image of Christ and empowers us to live victoriously. Therefore, let us surrender our lives completely to Him and pray for the grace to become new in Christ Jesus, so that His glory may be revealed in us. Amen.

KEY TRUTHS THAT SHAPED OUR LIVES IN THE MONTH OF JULY (REST).

Over the course of this month, God has reminded us that true rest comes from Him alone. Rest is not simply the absence of problems, but the peace and assurance that come from dwelling in His presence.

We also learnt that abiding in Christ is the key to a fruitful life. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit apart from the vine, we cannot fulfil God's purpose outside of Him (John 15:4–7).

Another important lesson is that God's presence is our refuge. When we draw near to Him, we find strength, security and confidence regardless of the challenges around us.

Finally, we were reminded that fruitfulness is the evidence of a life at rest in God. Those who remain in Christ bear lasting fruit because their lives are sustained by Him.

What else did you learn from REST?
