The Sacrifice of Worship Through the Fruit of our Lips.

"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." Hebrews 13:15

Teaching along the lines of biblical dispensations, Min. Ubokobong Okon taught on music in worship to God thus:

1. In the patriarchal dispensation, worship was offered to God through animal sacrifices. There is no record of music offered to God in this era.

2. The Mosaic dispensation introduced singing into worship as was instructed by God. Deut.31:19. Music of worship in this age was accompanied by mechanical instruments. 2Chron.29:25. However, musical instrument in worship ended with that era. Jer.31:31.

3. In the Christian dispensation which we are today Psalms, hymns and Spiritual songs made by our lips are approved by God for our worship.
"Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." Ephesians 5:19.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16.

Music made with our lips continually repeats in the new testament pointing us to the truth that vocal music is God's pattern of music for the church today.
