PILLARS OR CATERPILLARS OF PROGRESS
JOEL 1: 4, Ex. 10:13-15, Ps. 105: 34-35
This message is very important to every one of us whoever we are, whatever is our position in the church we are to ask ourselves honest question, are we pillars or caterpillars in the church?
We are not where we are by accident. God is aware of it because we are important to His plan of redemption. He calls us co-labourers in His vineyard. 1 Cor. 3:9. However, not many are actually living up to God's expectation, the more reason for self examination

By nature, caterpillars are destructive, they are out to spoil, destroy, ruin and cause havoc. Their presence is a curse and bad omen. They bring sorrow, anguish, trouble and commotion to wherever they are. And this is sadly true of many, church members,

Destroy church unity, peace and harmony through sin. Rm. 8:12-13

Pillars are usually reliable, dependable, trustwortny and burden bearers. They are immovable and steadfast. They are ready to go all the way and you could count on them anywhere, anytime. They have come to stay and stand as backbone all the time.
CHARACTERISTICS OF PILLARS
1. Committed to the church
2.: Active participant in church programme
3. Does not sit idles but get involve
4. Give time, talent, train, energy and möney for church progress
5. Responsible and reliable and obedient Phil 2:12-15
6. Remain humble, teachable an submissive
7. Gives useful advice, suggestions and take initiative for progress
Bear the burden of prayer, progress and well being of the church, with the ministers Act. 6:3 - 7, 4:23 - 24, 29 - 31
CONSEQUENCES OF BEING A CATERPILLAR
Absence of God's favour, mercy, peace, joy and promotion. Denial of blessings and power of God. II Jn. 9-10
REWARD FOR BEING A PILLAR
Growth advancement, expansion spiritually, physical, materially and mentally. Act. 6:3 -
7, Rm. 8:14 - 19
