was founded on 26th August, 1990 by four of the Prominent Methodist Members of the then Lagos Battalion Council. Festus Olumuyiwa Coker, Bro. Robert Ebun Akinsanya and Late Emmanuel Adenola Awoderu. The inaugural meeting was held at the Palm Avenue Methodist Church, Mushin, Lagos on Sunday 26th August, 1990 at 1.00pm with Late Sis. Segun Akindele, Brigade Patroness and Patron of Palm Avenue in att
endance. The turn-up was very encouraging as they decided to hold meetings monthly and rotationally. The name "ASSOCIATION OF METHODIST BRIGADES" was adopted at the second meeting held in Yaba on Sunday 30th October, 1990 under the Chairmanship of The Rev. O. Bolaji, who deputized for the Presbyter of Yaba. Two names were considered: "METHODIST BRIGADES COUNCIL" suggested by Late (Bro.) Olutola Dada and "ASSOCIATION OF METHODIST BRIGADES" by Bro. (Chief) Ebenezer Adebowale Alder. After a thorough debate for and against each of the titles, the house unanimously agreed that they should from then be known and called the "ASSOCIATION OF METHODIST BRIGADES"
The Association of Methodist Brigades (A.M.B) as a body has now existed for 21 years.
