PEREFECTION
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Pet 5:10.
This is a comforting assurance that God will finally “perfect” His work of “grace” in His people, after they have undergone suffering. To perfect is to remove defect, to complete what was started and to supply every need, to leave nothing wanting. This is a huge encouragement to those that appear to have been short-changed in certain areas of life. Apostle Peter says God is able to make up for their shortcomings and inadequacies as if they never had them. He is able to bring grace to bear in their situations and circumstances. He is able to make them have double for their troubles.
Abraham had everything a man could desire. Well… almost everything. He had a good wife, cattle, oxen, sheep and goats. He had gold and silver. His men servants and women servants were numerous. He even had his own private army. He however lacked one thing, he did not have a son. He did not have an heir to bestow all that God gave him. He needed perfection. He cried out. “And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.” Genesis 15:2-3
The God of Israel responded with the gift of a son that made the joy of Abraham and his wife to be full and they laughed and named the child laughter.
God will perfect his purpose in your life. Let us look also at Naaman. “Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a l***r” 2King 5:1. Naaman an influential man was a general in the army of Syria. He had the ears of the king because he was very powerful and rich, yet there was a “but” in his life. He was a l***r.
Leprosy was a reproach. Leprosy made him an object of pity. That was not the purpose of God for his life. However, a day came when the God of Israel removed the imperfection and his flesh became flawless like that of a little child 2 Kings 5:14. And at that time, God’s purpose of good health and all-round success was perfected in Naaman’s life. God will do the same for you.
His testimony was very sweet, he said “…. Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel… “2 Kings 5:15.
David was anointed king of Israel in 1 Samuel 16. Between the time of his anointing and his ascension to the throne, his life was endangered many times. He faced Goliath.
He even dodged Saul’s javelin. He ran from one cave to another. He even became a fugitive dwelling among the enemies of Israel. However, when his perfection came, his main enemy was taken out of the way and the men of Israel came to beg him to be King over them.
God’s plan for your life will materialise. God’s perfection will come.
