PLEASE GOD AND RIDE HIGH
Proverbs 16:7 “When a man’s ways pleaseth the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him” (KJV)
Jacob loved Joseph more than his other sons and made for him a coat of many colours. His excuse for this special love was that Joseph was the son of his old age. Benjamin was born 9 years after Joseph, so he was therefore more qualified to enjoy the special love and its symbol: the coat of many colours. However, the special favour went unto Joseph.

The real reason Joseph was preferred by his father above the others was not truly because he was the son of his old age but because God delighted in him (Joseph).

The testimony of God concerning Joseph was that, he had holy indignation against sin. He loved righteousness and hated sin. Genesis 37:2; 39:7-9; Hebrew 1:9.

He that has the hearts in his hand has access to man’s spirit and power over them. When God is well disposed to a man, He can make people to be well disposed to the man. God raises up friends and helpers for those he delights in; those who please Him.

Divine selection is by grace. It is an undeserved favour. However from the scripture above, (When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them. NLT) it is possible to draw the hand of God’s favour. The secret therefore is to find ways of pleasing God. “…you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. Romans 14:18 (NLT) “…brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God…” 1 Thessalonians 4:1 (NLT) 1 Peter 2:5

We can please God by submitting to Jesus; Ephesians 2:8-10; Philippians 2:13, by having faith, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God)” Hebrews 11:6, by doing good “…and don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God” Heb 13:16. By being thankful and having holy fear of God “Since we are receiving a kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe”. Hebrews 12:28.

Let us start pleasing God and even those who did not like us will approve of us. God has chosen it to be so.

PEREFECTION
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 1 Pet 5:10.

This is a comforting assurance that God will finally “perfect” His work of “grace” in His people, after they have undergone suffering. To perfect is to remove defect, to complete what was started and to supply every need, to leave nothing wanting. This is a huge encouragement to those that appear to have been short-changed in certain areas of life. Apostle Peter says God is able to make up for their shortcomings and inadequacies as if they never had them. He is able to bring grace to bear in their situations and circumstances. He is able to make them have double for their troubles.

Abraham had everything a man could desire. Well… almost everything. He had a good wife, cattle, oxen, sheep and goats. He had gold and silver. His men servants and women servants were numerous. He even had his own private army. He however lacked one thing, he did not have a son. He did not have an heir to bestow all that God gave him. He needed perfection. He cried out. “And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.” Genesis 15:2-3

The God of Israel responded with the gift of a son that made the joy of Abraham and his wife to be full and they laughed and named the child laughter.

God will perfect his purpose in your life. Let us look also at Naaman. “Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a l***r” 2King 5:1. Naaman an influential man was a general in the army of Syria. He had the ears of the king because he was very powerful and rich, yet there was a “but” in his life. He was a l***r.

Leprosy was a reproach. Leprosy made him an object of pity. That was not the purpose of God for his life. However, a day came when the God of Israel removed the imperfection and his flesh became flawless like that of a little child 2 Kings 5:14. And at that time, God’s purpose of good health and all-round success was perfected in Naaman’s life. God will do the same for you.
His testimony was very sweet, he said “…. Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel… “2 Kings 5:15.

David was anointed king of Israel in 1 Samuel 16. Between the time of his anointing and his ascension to the throne, his life was endangered many times. He faced Goliath.

He even dodged Saul’s javelin. He ran from one cave to another. He even became a fugitive dwelling among the enemies of Israel. However, when his perfection came, his main enemy was taken out of the way and the men of Israel came to beg him to be King over them.

God’s plan for your life will materialise. God’s perfection will come.

DIVINE SELECTION

David had 19 named sons, not counting the sons of the concubines. He had such big boys like Amomon, Adonijah, Absalom, Shephatiah and Ithream. 2 Sam 3:2-5; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9. Adonijah was so good looking that everyone thought he was going to lead Israel after David his father, had died. Joab one of the mighty men of David and Abiathar the priest at the time thought so too. They tried to help him ascend his father’s throne 1 Kings 1:5-7. However when it was time to appoint a replacement for David, Solomon was the choice. 1Kings 1:45-46. This was divine selection.
Abinadab, Shammar, Eliab and the big boys of Jesse were strong enough to be drafted into the military. One would have expected that the choice of a replacement for King Saul would be among these guys. Jesse paraded his first seven sons before Prophet Samuel when a king was to be anointed among his sons. He did not think of the little lad in the field.
Who would have thought of the boy described in the Bible as ruddy and bright eyed? David was the least in the family, but because the choice of who became the king of Israel was the prerogative of God, David was chosen. 1 Samuel 16:7-13. This is divine selection
It is difficult to tell how many ill people Jesus passed by on his way before he got to the man at the pool of Bethesda. They were described as great multitude. There were at least four groups of people: the sick, the blind, the lame and the paralyzed at that pool waiting for an angel to come and stir up the pool. However, on that day, only a particular man who did not have any hopes was healed. John 5:1-9. That was divine selection.
God was looking within the house of Jacob. He skipped Reuben the number one man in the family. He skipped the second man; He skipped the third until He got to Joseph the number eleven, and chose him to be a star. Genesis 37:1-8. Jacob also in blessing the sons of Joseph placed his left hand on Manasseh’s head and his right hand on Ephraim his younger brother. This action displeased Joseph because he expected his father to know that the first born was to be blessed with the right hand. The response of his father showed it was beyond him. The younger one was simply divinely selected and preferred above his brother.
Genesis 48:13-19 You been divinely selected by God. That is why you are reading this now. And your destiny in God shall be fulfilled.
The scripture is replete of men and women that were divinely selected: good examples are Abraham, Moses, Gideon, Joash, Elisha, Esther, Isaiah, etc. When a man is divinely selected, it would not matter his background or the circumstances of his birth, the littleness or the limitations in his life. It would not matter where he stands in life. It would not matter those that have gone ahead of him. When a man is divinely selected men will have no choice but to make room for him. A man that is divinely selected will be preferred above his peers and superiors.

May we find grace in the sight of The Alimighty.

DUE SEASON.
Leviticus 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruits.
Deuteronomy 11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, (fruitfulness) and thy wine (joy), and thine oil (grace).
The plan of God is for us to always be in season. Being in season means being where you should be as at when due. There is always a natural purpose we should be fulfilling at every particular time of our lives.

A five month old child should crawl and walk between eight to thirteen months just as a fifteen year old boy should not be in basic six. The biological clock of a lady is said to be winding to a close when she is between forty five and fifty.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
Rain has its season. The rain falls in its due season. The first rain and the latter rain. The first or former rain is that which fell in Judea about November, when they sowed their seed, and this served to moisten and prepare the ground for the vegetation of the seed. The latter rain fell about April, when the corn was well grown up, and served to fill the ears, and render them plump and perfect.

Rain rarely fell in Judea at any other seasons than these. If the former rain were withheld, or not sent in due season, there could be no vegetation: if the latter rain were withheld, or not sent in its due season, there could be no full corn in the ear, and consequently no harvest.

God promised to send both the former and the latter rain so that the plant will bring forth and there will be good harvest. When the former and latter rains fall in the life of a man, he will bring forth appropriately- he will be out of the University at the right time, get a job, get married and have children at the appropriate time. If there is a breach of the rain, she may not bring forth in due season. That is when we say she’s 45 and she doesn’t have a husband. She’s 50 and she doesn’t have a child. He’s out of the university and no job. The rain had been withheld at some point or the other.

God wants to fulfill his promise of rain but we have his caveat in Deuteronomy 11:13 “and it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day…” The Psalmist says if we conduct ourselves appropriately with him and learn and obey his instructions which make un godly, we will bring forth our fruits in our seasons.

Psalm 1:3 says “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
