AGEING GRACEFULLY
Of recent, I have seen people - young and old calling me Baba. At home this is not an issue but outside I feel somehow particularly with people I do not know. I ask myself am I that old? Today, I had the privilege of gracing the thanksgiving service of a Church. Again, a very Senior Pastor called me Baba.
With all these, I had no option than to use my phone to take a number of my selfie. The Church leadership had dashed me the Ankara outfit I wore. My discovery of course, is that I am ageing gracefully! And the challenge is that I should work more for my Master now when the ability has not taken a flight.

I AM NOT SURPRISED!
Years back, I met a young Pastor presiding over a ministry that was upcoming. My close observation revealed his zeal, diligence, commitment and consecration. He was a unique man whose life was saturated with ceaseless prayers and uncommon fasting. Whenever I see him, the joy of the Lord noticeably radiate over him despite his then financial struggles and marital distractions. When it is inevitable (due to financial reasons), he would trek well over a kilometer from his then place of abode to his Church location. There was also the overflowing of his Zeal and commitment to Kingdom assignments to his workers in the church, particularly the choir members.
For a number of times, I would call him to encourage him. I often tell him to be unrelenting in his commitment and consecration. I knew his ministerial breakthrough was just a matter of time.
Therefore, I am not surprised when I see the level God has taken his ministry to. His regular church programs, monthly Saturday outreach programs, radio programs etc which at times I watch online are evidences of spiritual advancement. More than this, the last time I visited the church, I was glad to see the modest living apartment he had built for himself at the back of the church building. Of course, this is just the beginning of greater things that will unfold in course of time. This much I know.
Today, I celebrate Pastor Kayode Afolabi (Ina Pentecost). Greater heights my brother.

HONEST AND SINCERE CHURCH GOERS.
"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves, know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5.
Self deceit is so common among church goers in this present age. People in this category always pretend to be alright spiritually but of course they know that they are far from being alright. Is there any sense in self deceit?
I am always happy when I encounter honest and sincere church goers. There was a time I had a crusade somewhere. The crusade was in conjunction with the local wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria. The praise and worship session was led by a choir member of one the churches under the association. After my message, I made an altar call and she came out to surrender her life to Christ. She was sincere and honest to herself. At another crusade, those who responded to the altar call included choir members of the host churches that sang at the crusade. I had also ministered in a church during a Sunday with the topic: Who is a Christian? After the message, I made an altar call and virtually all members of the church responded to the call. These were sincere and honest church goers. My heart is always filled with joy when I see Christians who are honest and sincere.
Is there any sense in pretence and hypocrisy? Capital No. Why would a reasonable person deceive not only others but also himself?
This is a clarion call to those of us who are called by the name of the Lord to critically examine ourselves in the light of the Scriptures and set our ways right if needed rather than continuing in self deceitfulness.

WHAT IS IN A TITLE?
Several years ago, Dr Olatunji Dare (now an Emeritus Professor of Mass Communication at Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois, USA) a wordsmith and newspaper columnist, wrote an interesting article on the subject matter above. It was a satire on Nigerians craziness for titles. Foreign unrecognized Universities then flooded Nigeria selling honorary doctorate degree to willing Nigerians on cash and carry basis. It also marked the beginning of mushroom professional bodies selling to gullible Nigerians associate and fellowship membership certificates.
This craziness has gradually crawled into Christiandom. Gone are the days when Ministers of the gospel prefer to be conservative and simple in line with the dispositions of the missionaries that brought Christianity to our land. Hardly can we find young Ministers who are in the mode of Pastors Adeboye, Kumuyi and Olukoya. With earned higher academic degrees, thousands of branches, numerous provinces and regions scattered all over the world under them, they remain simply Pastors - not Bishops or Archbishops or Cardinals. On the contrary, we have Munusters who preside over 'one branch church' with few members but acquire the titles of Bishops, Arch Bishops or Cardinals. In the past, this was alien to Pentecostal Ministers. In similar vein, virtually every Pentecostal Pastors have transformed to Apostles leaving their wives with the title of Pastors! Some may be truly Apostles but many do not fit in as far as the meaning of the title is concerned.
The crazy for titles is not limited to Spiritual offices. Now every Minister including those in the Pentecostal fold covet the Doctorate title. They want to be known as Pastor (Dr) or Apostle (Dr). Some without academic publications (books and journals) are awarded the title of Professors. What do they profess?
Really many seek these titles for recognition purposes. A Pastor friend told me that he decided to go for a Doctorate degree because of the discrimination he went through when he enlisted to be a voluntary worker during the crusade of an international Evangelist in Lagos. He said Ministers with long titles were given utmost regards. I too have attended Church programs as guest Minister where the host Ministers would prefer to introduce me with titles I do not bear with the belief that my title of Evangelist is too demeaning! When an Evangelist working under me got married in the Apostolic church, the officiating Minister was hesitant in giving me due recognition because I bear the title of an Evangelist. Should I because of that 'upgrade'? No! I would rather allow my spiritual exploits upgrade me and give me recognition like Brother Gbile Akanni. It is for the same reason that I declined when I was awarded an honorary doctorate degree. I would rather go back to school and earn an academic doctorate degree that will not make me look inferior when I am in the midst of academicians. I don't want to be seen as a backyard doctor. In any case, titles have no bearing to my calling.
On a final note, I must say that this write up is a personal opinion.

MOST MIRACLES ARE EMBEDDED IN MYSTERY.
I have keenly watched all the hullabaloo that followed the video clips of testimonies of miracles by members of a particular Church that were mischievously posted online by third parties. While I am not in a position to confirm the veracity of the testimonies, but I do know that what most commentators opined that were not possible are actually possible.
What is a miracle? A miracle is an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. It can also be defined as an event of God's providence in which the outcome goes beyond what the natural properties of the created things involved could have produced. Simply put, it is an event that is is inexplicable by natural or scientific laws. For instance, in 2 Kings 6:1-7, when an axe-head mistakenly fell into a river,
Prophet Elijah "cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim". This miracle made mess of the law of gravity in science. Another example is the case of Sarah. The Bible recorded: "And Abraham and Sarah were old and we'll stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women" Genesis 18:11. Sarah who hitherton been barren had entered into menopause. Biologically speaking, it was not possible for her to conceive (no egg to be fertilized by the husband's s***m). Yet she conceived and gave birth to Isaac!. We also see the bringing back to life of a man called Lazarus by Jesus in the Bible. The man was dead and buried for good four days. Infact the Sister told Jesus:"Lord, by this time, he stinketh for he hath been dead four days" John 11:39. Despite the fact that the whole organs had packed up and gotten decayed, Jesus Christ brought him back to life. Medically, this is considered impossible!
Now, what is Mystery? Mystery is something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain. And many miracles fall into this category. They are embedded in mystery. And this is the reason why the spiritually ignorant people dispute miracles that appear to be incomprehensible. Examples of such miracles abound in the Bible.
In 2 Kings 4:42-44, Prophet Elisha fed a hundred people with 20 loaves of bread and there were still remnants left. Jesus Christ repeated the same feat in Mathew 14:14-21 when he fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fishes with a left over of 12 full baskets. In the two cases, the question is: What caused the multiple multiplication of the loaves of the bread? Mystery! It is the same mystery that confounded some people when Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye said that God drank tea with him and when he said he drove his car with an empty tank from Ore to Lagos.
In 2 Kings 4:1-7, a woman was in debt and had no means of paying the debt. She solicited for the assistance of Prophet Elisha. Numerous vessels she borrowed were miraculously filled with oil from just a pot of oil she had at home. It was the oil in the numerous vessels she sold to pay off. her debt. Can this be explained? Mystery! The same way, the miracle that made Mama Akindayomi to draw continuously for days from her pot of soup without it getting empty is a miracle embedded in mystery. Evang Bola Are was in debt that would have embarrassed her. She was in a studio for a recording session overwhelmed by the weight of the debt. From the reception office she was told she had a visitor and on getting there, she was told that the visitor had dropped an envelope and left. When she opened the envelope, it containef the exact amount of money she needed to pay off the debt. She went to the gate of the company to ask after the visitor and she was told no one came in through the gate.. At another time she needed money, two strange people came to her house with a gift of clothing and inside the cloth was the exact amount of money she needed. Humanly speaking, are all these not disputable? Let me share a personal experience. Years back I had an accumulated bills rumming into several thousands of naira to settle at a particular organization. On a Monday morning, I received e call from the Director reminding me of the overdue debt. I promised to pay off the following Friday but I later realized that I would not be able to meet up with the promise. I did not discuss the issue with anyone. Surprisingly, on the particular Friday morning promised, I received a call from the organization telling me that a man was there to pay off the debt. The man who said that he did not know me confirmed he was acting under Divine instruction. The Management later confirmed to me that the man was even a Moslem. When people talk of miracle alert, I don't dipute their claims because I know it is possible. I have experienced so many miracles in my life that it will be foolhardy for me to falt any miracle no matter how incredible they appeared to be. In the cause of my professional career, thrice had the prison doors been opened for me to enter but God miraculously closed them!
On e final note, I must say that all the miracles in the Bible had two elements that made them credible. They are:
-. Foolproof evidences
- Eye witnesses
These are the two elements we should watch out for rather than a blanket condemnation or write off of miracles testimonies.

AMAZINGLY AMAZING.
I stumbled on a post in the net. It was a snapshot of a notice on an hospital board. It has to do with the hospital's charges for oxygen for patients on life support. Details are:
- per minute N167
- per hour. N10,020
-. per day. N240,480.
The post got me thinking. I imagined if God had charged me for His oxygen supply for the approximately 24,297 days I have spent on the surface of the earth, it would have been impossible for me to settle the bill which I calculated as five billion eight hundred and forty two million, nine hundred and forty two thousand, five hundred and sixty naira ( #5,842,942,560).
Lord I thank you. Ore idasi, ore abo, ore alaafia, ore ibukun, ore riri je, ore riri mu ATI NIPATAKI ore igbala. Gbese ope mi po, mi o le san tan!.

THE POWER OF PRAYER.
"Peter therefore was kept in prison; but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him" Acts 12:5.
After King Herod had killed James, one of the Apostles, and nothing happened, he was emboldened to give Peter the same treatment. He apprehended him and put him in prison with the intention to kill him after Easter (Acts 12:1-4). Sensing the danger ahead, the church woke up from her slumber and began to pray ceaselessly. If there is someone who is ready to pray, there is a Supreme One on the throne, who is ever ready to answer. God answered the prayer of the church. He did not only set in motion the process of the miraculous release of Apostle Peter but saw to the subsequent uncommon death of King Herod. The king had the singular distinction of been eaten up by worms before his demise: .... and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost" Acts 12:23.
Whether it is an individual or a corporate prayer, doubtless, there is power in prayer. It is prayer that brought the turn around in the life of a man called Jabez who was originally destined to spend his entire life in sorrow and penury (1 Chronicles 4:9-10). It was prayer that took away barrenness from the life of a woman called Hannah (1 Samuel l:10-17). I can go on and on.
If prayer worked and is still working for me, I know as a matter of fact that it will also work for you. The only precondition is for you to make your ways right with him.
If you have issues unsettling your mind, take a step of faith, pull a call through or inbox me. I assure you that you will have cause to give testimony.

ENJOINED TO SUPPORT THE WEAK.
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive" Acts 20:35.
Those who by the Grace of God are strong have the obligation to support those who are:
- financially weak, we call them the poor;
- weak in health, we call them the sick;
- spiritually weak, we call them babes in faith;
We are not expected to deride, scorn or debase them. Some of these categories of people were more studious than us in school, some are more hardworking than us and some observe good health rules more than us BUT fate, situation and circumstances have placed them in the unfortunate positions they have found themselves. Therefore reach out to them with your money, goods and words of encouragement. In doing all these, let your approach be clothed in humility and not arrogance. See them as human beings like you!

BENEFITS ACCRUING TO MINISTERS OF THE GOSPEL
One of the benefits accruing to the Ministers of the gospel is that most often they live by the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:14).
When One is totally given to the work of the Kingdom, he or she becomes a beneficiary of Divine provisions that are immune to worldly economic downturns.
A few days ago, I went somewhere to hesitantly make a purchase. I was hesitant because of my consideration of the cash available at that time vis a vis the list of other needs. Surprisingly a man standing by my side who was watching asked that the payment I made be returned to me and he immediately paid for the purchase. He then asked if I recognized him to which I said no. He told me that he was the one who interpreted for me when I came to the Church he attends to minister as a Guest Minister.
A valuable lesson I also learnt from the episode is the need for Ministers to know that we are public figures seen and watched by people we know and also those we do not know but know us. Ditto for every born again Christian. If I have done something contrary, the man who paid for my purchase would have quietly watched and formed an erasable opinion on me.

NOT VERY COMMON ACT OF GRATITUDE
Today I received a letter of appreciation with gift from the Lagos State University of Technology Christian Fellowship. The Executives of the fellowship have over the years hold their Retreat at our Prayer Camp. So it was a surprise when the representative of the outgoing Executive came with the letter and the gift. Their action is very uncommon in this era of indifference and entitlement mentality. I can say much more on this!
I am posting this message to let people know the fact that acts of gratitude also attract appreciation. So Presido Bashiru Awobajo and your team, I publicly appreciate you and pray that our labour as labourers in the Vineyard of Christ will not be in vain in Jesus name.

WHEN A PERSON IS CALLED "ANUOFIA".
Anuofia is an Igbo word. It means "wild animal". It is often used by the Ibos of the South East and South South regions of Nigeria to describe a stupid person. I first heard the word from Friday, my former highly dependable Driver. He is an Igbo man from Agbor. He is a dutiful and efficient driver who drove me transversing the length and breath of the South West, South East and South South regions of Nigeria. Of relevance to this message was our sojourn in Ibadan between years 2004 and 2007 when I was the Revenue Consultant to Oyo State Government. Friday would often wind down the driver's side door glass of my vehicle, point his left hand towards the irritant Ibadan commercial drivers and shout "Anuofia" whenever they dangerously crossed our way. Bye the way, Ibadan commercial drivers are Specialists when it comes to careless and dangerous driving. When an Ibadan commercial driver crosses your way wrongly and you accused him of not trafficating (non use of traffic indicator light), he would shout: "se o rowo mi nita ni" telling one that he had pointed out his hand as the indicator of his driving direction.
When a person is called "anuofia"! Hummm this is serious! It simply means the person is behaving like an animal. One discovery I have also made is that the Bible also refer to some people as animals. Of importance to this message are the categories of people called goats and dogs and what the Bible says will be their lots at the end of the day. Infact Jesus Christ Himself referred to some people as goats. Human beings that have the same characteristics as dogs and goats are called those names. Interestingly, I had once kept a dog at home and I presently rear goats, so I can bear witness to some of these characteristics which I will address now.
Dogs: local dogs as case study.
Dogs are shameless. The male dog will mate with the female one in the public without qualms! No wonder the Bible likened a dog to a w***e "asewo" in Deuteronomy 23:18. Some men and women are promiscuous like dogs.
Dogs can be very dangerous. They can attack and bite their owners without considering his or her good deeds. No wonder the Bible ranked dogs with the wicked in Psalm 22:16
Dogs will gladly return back to it's vomit. They are like backsliders in faith. Proverbs 26:11: 2 Peter 2':.22.
Infact Apostle Paul specifically warned the Philippian Christians to beware of dog - like fellows. Philippians 3:2.
GOATS:
I can write an epistle on goats because I keenly watch them as I feed them on daily basis.
Goats are stubborn. They will repeatedly do what you don't want them to do.
Goats are incorrigible.
Goats are greedy and selfish. I often see the mother goats preventing their offsprings from eating, chasing them away from the bowls of food.
Goats live only for their belly.
Goats fight themselves unecessarily. They are not always at peace with each other
The worse of it all is that male goats shamelessly mate with their mothers. Are there no human beings committing in**st,?
Now what is the Bible saying about human beings that have the same characteristics as dogs and goats?
",For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and w***emongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever liveth and maketh a lie" Revelation 22:15. The,"without" means outside heaven. Simply put, they are materials for hell fire.
Concerning the goat-like humans, in concluding his message on this in Mathew chapter 25, Jesus said: "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment but the righteous into life eternal" , Mathew 25:46 The "these" are goat-like human beings.
The good news is that Jesus can turn around the lives of the "anuofia" like men, women, boys and girls who are willing to surrender their lives to Him. If you are in this category, why don't you avai yourself of this great opportunity now? Tomorrow may be too late!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO THE MORTUARY?
What a question!
A mortuary is a place used for the storage of human co**ses awaiting burial.
Me, I have been to the mortuary once. That was in 1990 when I took my mother's co**se to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) mortuary. She had lived with me for a period of time. Her death was unexpected. She had travelled home a month earlier and came back with joy because she was able to make two important restitutions. On the day she died I had just returned from work and as usual of me, I went straight to her room to pray with her. Her Amen in response to my words of prayer were thundering. I placed my Bible on her head and continued with my prayer. I suddenly discovered that I was not hearing her Amen again. When I opened my eyes, I realized that she was gone though her eyes looked fresh and friendly like that of a baby. I immediately called my wife and my Cousin living with me to help me move her body to my car for onward evacuation to the mortuary without drawing any attention; and with instruction that there should not be any crying. Infact, it took days before people in our building of six flats knew that the virtuous woman was gone. Her burial weeks later was glorious and unprecedentedly handled by two regions of Deeper Life Bible Church, Ado and Ido Ekiti regions with support from her Lagos District Church. It was the glory of the burial that led to the conversion of my three junior siblings who by the grace of God are today leaders in the Deeper Life Bible Church. You may be wondering, why all the story? I intend to make a comparison between her peaceful death and the dead of another woman in a community near me years back. My friend had rented a big space in her compound for his Church activities. When she was about to die, she was in serious agony, agitated and troubled. She confessed that her situation was similar to that of a rabbit caught alive, put in a cage that is hanged with woods set on fire placed underneath.
Now back to my question, have you ever been to the mortuary. Like I wrote earlier, I have been to one. What did I see in the mortuary?. I saw human co**ses packed like sardines inside the morgue. They wore no clothes - the expensive lace, guinea brocade, Ankara materials did not follow them to the mortuary. I did not see designer wristwatches in their hands; neither did I see them wearing designer glasses/shades. They did not also carry designer bags. No artificial hairs, whether Brazilian or whatever name called. No make up, no swagger of any kind. To add insult to injury, the mortuary attendants who ordinarily would have filled forms upon forms before seeing some of them when they were alive now treat them with disdain and contempt. No iota of respect! The vanities of life have no other name than VANITY.
A visit to the mortuary will change the perspective of a sensible man about life. I recently asked my wife what becomes her many "don't touch, handle with care" UK made plates and coolers with the Iseyin made giant cooking pots in years to come?
We are all living co**ses. We will one day end up in the mortuary if we are not buried immediately after death. What should therefore be paramount to us is how meaningfully and not fancifully we live our lives and also where we are heading to after death. Let us be constantly reminded that A Live Without Christ is a hopeless life -;a life doomed and destined to nowhere but HELL FIRE.
