OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: FRIDAY 8TH JANUARY 2021.

THEME: MIND YOUR WORDS.

MEMORISE:

Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither soy thou before the angel, that it was on error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? Ecclesiastes 5:6

READ: Genesis 35:17-18

17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.

18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.

MESSAGE:

Sometimes, our emotions overwhelm us so much that we say things we don't mean to in the heat of the moment. In today's Bible reading, Rachel called her
last child 'a child of sorrow' because of the intense pain she went through to deliver him. Thank God Jacob changed that name. You need l be very careful
of what you say when you are sad, excited, angry or frustrated, because whatsoever you say may have permanent consequences. Esau sold his birthright to his
brother when he was hungry. Be careful of the agreements you enter into when you are desperate, so that you don't live to regret them.
Samson was head over heels in love with Delilah and because of this, he divulged the secret of his power to her. You may not know it but the devil is
watching you. He is taking note of your moods and emotions. Once he notices that you always talk without restraint, he will set you up to say the wrong
thing at the wrong time.

Judges11:30-31 says:
"And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord's,
and I will offer it up for a burnt offering."

In the passage above, the devil had seen the fear and doubt in Jephthah, so he suggested that Jephthah should promise God a sacrifice of anything he saw
first upon his return without thinking, Jephthah made that promise. On getting home however, the devil arranged for his only daughter to be the one
he saw first. If only he had thought deeply about the vow before saying it!

Don't become a victim of your own words; think carefully before saying anything. If you find yourself at a family function and have the opportunity to
speak to your relative, think carefully before you speak. Don't assume all your family members are your friends; remember Joseph was sold by his blood
brothers because of the dreams he shared with them (Genesis 37:5-28).
God will help you.

ACTION POINT:

Make it a habit to always think carefully before you talk.

HYMN 11: I NEED THEE EVE'RY HOUR.

1. I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
o Refrain:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

2. I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r when Thou art nigh.

3. I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.

4. I need Thee every hour; teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises in me fulfill.

5. I need Thee every hour, most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed, Thou blessed Son.

OPEN HEAVEN FOR TEENS
SUNDAY 3RD OF JANUARY, 2021
THEME: DO YOU LOVE GOD?

MEMORISE: Mark 12:30
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

READ: Deuteronomy 6:4-7
[4]Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
[5]And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
[6]And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
[7]And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

MESSAGE:
Today, many claim to love God and they do, but they love some worldly things more than they
love God. For instance, some young men won't trade their love for football matches or their club for anything, to the extent that if the time for the
church service or fellowship meeting clashes with the time of any of their matches, they'd rather not go for service that day.

Some people also claim to love God for what they will gain. They feel happy to declare their love for God when they have more than enough to eat, money to spend or achieve success academically. Your love for God should not be based on anything. No wonder God loved David
so much. In Psalm 42:1, David said: "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God."

If you truly love God, your heart pant after Him and nothing will be big to let go of for the Lord.

KEY POINT: If you love God, you will pant after Him.

THEME: JUST GIVE THANKS

MEMORISE: 1 Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

READ: Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

MESSAGE:
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Psalm 100:4
The above passage says that when you are coming to God, you are to come with thanksgiving - not with grumbling and complaining, but with thanksgiving. This means that if you don't come with thanksgiving, then He can decide not to open His gates for you. Many people's prayers do not get answered because all they do is complain and murmur to God. You are complaining that you have no car when someone else has a car but cannot rise from his sick bed. You are complaining that you have no shoes when someone else has no legs. Just give thanks. No matter what you are going through, there are millions of people around the world going through worse situations. Make a habit of always thanking God for what you have.
There are some little things we often take for granted. One day, my wife called to check on a sick person we had been praying for. After the phone call, she told me the fellow said “Help me thank God that l was able to wear my clothes by myself today”. Even I the General Overseer had never thought of thanking God for the ability to dress up by myself. Don’t put your attention on the things that you don’t have, rather, put it on all the great things that God is already doing for you.
God enjoys being with people who are full of thanks and praises of His name, but He detests murmurers. ln 1 Corinthians 10:10, the Bible says that when the Israelites murmured, they were destroyed:
"Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer."
Joseph for instance, never murmured against God, even while in slavery and in prison. Thus, he fulfilled his destiny and prospered because the Bible says God was with him (Genesis 39:2-3).
You want God to help you through all your challenges in life and lead you to a glorious future? Thank Him at all times.

ACTION POINT:
Spend at least thirty minutes thanking God today. Don't ask for anything, just thank Him.

HYMN: NOW THANK WE ALL OUR GOD
1. Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices,
Who from our mother's arms
Hath bless'd us on our way
With countless gifts of love
And still is ours today.

2. Oh may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us,
And keep us in His grace,
And guide us when perplex'd
And free us from all ills
In this world and the next

3. All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Spirit blest,
Who reign in highest heaven,
The One eternal God,
Whom earth and heav'n adore,
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL.

DATE: FRIDAY 1ST JANUARY, 2021.

THEME: IN THE BEGINNING, GOD SAID.

MEMORIZE:
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 1:3

BIBLE READING:
GENESIS 1:1-5

1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

MESSAGE:
When God speaks, it is done. This is because there is power in His word (Hebrews 4:12).

I congratulate you today because the Almighty who knows no impossibility (Luke 1:37) is saying to you on the very first day of this year that you will never suffer again.

Everything He has planned for you shall come to pass this year in Jesus’ name.

However, you must become a member of God’s family for His word to impact your life positively.

To have the Light of God in your life throughout this year, you must repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord.

It is impossible for your “New Year Resolutions” to withstand the test of temptations without the power in the blood of Jesus that was shed for the remission of sins (Matthew 26:28).

After inviting Jesus to become the Lord over your life, you must ensure that you continue to dwell in Him permanently.

He is the only Light that can keep you out of darkness and see you successfully through this year and beyond (John 8:12).

Darkness is the opposite of light and it represents all forms of evil.

Thus, when God commands light into anyone or anything it simply means that darkness has been ruling over that person or thing.

From the Bible reading of today, you will see that the world was deep in chaos, darkness and was without form.

However, God spoke, as He is speaking to you on this significant day.

He said ”…let there be light” and there was light.

Today, command light to shine into your life and repel every form of darkness, in the mighty name of Jesus.

The Lord has promised us that as we walk in the Light, we will fellowship with Him, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son will cleanse us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

Remain faithful to your decision to follow Jesus throughout this year and your mouth will be full of testimonies of God’s goodness in the mighty name of Jesus.

If anybody asks you why you are so sure, tell the fellow that it is because God has said it. Hallelujah Happy New Year!.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, thank You for bringing me into another year. Please, let the power in your word bring to pass your promises in my life and family, in the mighty name of Jesus.

21/10/2020

I condemn in the strongest possible terms, attacks launched by the Nigerian military on unarmed young people, who have been peacefully protesting police brutality over the last 12 days as EndSARS protests.

I am confounded that prior to the sad events at the , the Nigerian Police failed to arrest the weapon-bearing hoodlums who were attacking the well-organized and non-violent EndSARS protesters.

The condemnable actions of the military risks driving the agitations of the young people underground, thereby making the situation unmanageable.

I call on the Federal Government to thoroughly investigate the tragic events at Lekki and other parts of the country, give justice to all victims even as it engages the EndSARS protesters to reach a common agreement to end police brutality.

I am also appealing to the Youths to allow peace reign & stop any form of action that would give the Military any other form of excuse to attack.

May the peace of God come upon our nation, now more than ever in JESUS name (Amen)

THEME: THE BIGGER YOUR VISION, THE GREATER YOUR EXPLOITS

MEMORISE

And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. Luke 5:5

READ
2 Kings 13:14-19

14. Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.

15. And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

16. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

17. And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.

18. And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

19. And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

MESSAGE

The anointing makes the difference between two weapons of warfare: the anointed one and the ordinary. David confirmed this in Psalm 20:7-8: Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Beloved, regardless of how feeble your instrument of office or weapon of warfare may appear, you will do great exploits with it provided you identify with the Anointed of the Almighty - Jesus Christ. Accept, follow and obey His commandments today, and you will be victorious in all you do in life.Vision is so vital to doing exploits in life and usually has its origin in the spirit realm. Anyone with access to vision at any level is endowed with power to do exploits. That is why the bigger and clearer your vision, the greater your exploits.

It is important, by the help of the Holy Spirit, to be able to discern the times of your favour or else you may miss them completely. God is the revealer of secrets. Romans 8:14 says:

“"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."”

The Holy Spirit could decide to use any available means to communicate with you revealing deep secrets and telling you of things to come. It could be through a dream, revelation, vision, or an audible voice. He could speak through a man of God at a programme, or He could send one to you directly. Apostle Peter fished all night without a single catch, but because he was sensitive enough spiritually to heed Jesus instruction, he received an overflow of blessings (Luke 5:6 ). I decree to your life today: God will give you an overflowing blessing that will impact your family, friends, and neighbours for good, in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT

Father, please grant me vision, and power to do exploits in life, in the mighty name of Jesus.

HYMN 18: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE

1. My faith looks up to Thee,

Thou Lamb of Calvary,

Saviour divine!

Now hear me while I pray,

Take all my guilt away,

O let me from this day

Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart

Strength to my fainting heart,

My zeal inspire;

As Thou hast died for me,

O may my love to Thee

Pure, warm and changeless be

A living fire!

3. While life's dark maze I tread,

And grief around me spread,

Be Thou my guide;

Bid darkness turn to day,

Wipe sorrow's tears away,

Nor let me ever stray

From Thee aside.

4. When ends life's transient dream,

When death's cold sullen stream

Shall o'er me roll;

Blest Saviour, then in love,

Fear and distrust remove;

O bear me safe above,

A ransomed soul.

THEME: DO MORE FOR GOD.

MEMORISE:
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth. Psalm 57:11

READ: Psalm 145:4-13 (KJV)

4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.

5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.

7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.

11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;

12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.

13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

MESSAGE:
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy mighty; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, not wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Ecclesiastes 9:10

While the Government of Nigeria was planning for the 1977 Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC), it occurred to me that, since it was going to be a public holiday, I could gather students to study the Bible pray and dance for Jesus instead.

I got the necessary information and approvals, then wrote letters to the schools. However, I did not have money to post the letters, not to mention feeding and accommodating the students, as I had promised.

A friend had offered his savings of ₦4,000 but we still needed more, so I had to sell my car. That programme which started small is now known all over the world as the RCCG Congress. I was not even the General Overseer then, just a Christian who wanted to lift Jesus’ name above all else.

In 1998, a politician claimed he could gather two million people in a place. I thought: “If he can gather two million people for himself, we can gather four million people for God.” So, Lekki ’98 held and by God’s grace, over six million people attended, causing a great revival in Nigeria.

At another time, a popular brand announced its goal of having at least one consumer in every family of the world. I was challenged; I believed we could do that for God too. There could be at least one member of the RCCG in every family of the world. Today, the RCCG is in over 197 countries of the world.

As Christian, we must match and outwit every secular dream. No more timidity! Do everything to ensure that God’s name is praised above all others. If you make a move, God will do the rest. Do more for God always.

THEME: END-TIME REFORMERS

MEMORISE

The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Mark 1:3

READ
2 Kings 23:1-8

1. And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

2. And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.

3. And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

4. And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.

5. And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

6. And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.

7. And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

8. And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.

MESSAGE

At various times in history, whenever the people of God appeared to have lost their spiritual antennae, God would usually raise a reformer to start off a revival. In biblical terms, a reformer is a person ordained by God to carry out correctional changes in order to rectify ungodly practices. May we yield ourselves to be used as reformers to ignite the fire of revival in the body of Christ today in the mighty name of Jesus.Reformers include Josiah, Asa, and Hezekiah - kings who ruled over Israel at different times in history, as well as prophets Ezekiel, Ezra, Nehemiah and John the Baptist to mention a few. The reformation of Asa - king of Judah is summarised in 1 Kings15:12-13 thus:

“And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.”

True Christians who once pledged allegiance to God could afterwards turn back to live contrary to their avowed beliefs and declaration of faith. Some people come to accept Jesus at the peak of their hopeless situations only to abandon Him after receiving divine solutions to their problems. The Church is currently in a state of regression; many Christians are no longer living according to Gods word but rather, the standards of the world.

We the children of God must be reformers people who would do the right thing no matter the cost. We must be people who will instruct fledgling and backslidden Christians, as well as unbelievers, to completely obey the word of God at all times. God is seeking reformers; are you one?

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to be a reformer in these end times, in the mighty name of Jesus.

STAND UP! STAND UP FOR JESUS

1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,

Ye soldiers of the Cross!

Lift high His royal banner;

It must not suffer loss.

From vict'ry unto vict'ry

His army shall He lead,

Till every foe is vanquished,

And Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,

The trumpet call obey;

Forth to the mighty conflict,

In this His glorious day;

Ye that are men now serve Him

Against unnumbered foes;

Let courage rise with danger,

And strength to strength oppose.

3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!

Stand in His strength alone;

The arm of flesh will fail you,

Ye dare not trust your own:

Put on the gospel armour,

And watching unto prayer;

Where duty calls, or danger,

Be never wanting there.

4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!

The strife will not be long;

This day the noise of battle,

The next the victor's song;

To him that overcometh,

A crown of life shall be;

He with the King of glory

Shall reign eternally.

THEME: GATES OF ADVERSITY MUST BE LIFTED

Acts 16:26

Psalms 24:7-10

7. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

MESSAGE

Gates of adversity are seemingly insurmountable obstacles be it an individual, kingdom or situation, obstructing the progress of a person or group of people.Biblical examples of gates of adversity include Pharaoh with the Egyptian army, the wall of Jericho and Goliath the Philistine. Situations representative of gates of adversity include mountains, poverty, sickness, slavery, captivity, siege, and barrenness. Those who are held bound by such gates would therefore find it extremely difficult to succeed in life. These conditions have consistently proven insurmountable by human effort, but Mark 10:27 saysWith men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.Gods purpose for mankind is seen in Genesis 1:28 where God commanded us to Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominionManifestations of contrary circumstances in life are abnormalities usually brought about by sin and hidden works of the devil.

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; And be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in.”

Psalm 24:7 My Daddy the creator of heaven and earth, the Almighty, can destroy every gate of adversity. Zechariah 4:7 says,Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain Isaiah 10:27 also says and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Are you troubled by any gate of adversity? If you havent accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, do so now. If you are born again, then commit to serving God for the rest of your life and He will fight for you. I command every gate of adversity in your life to be destroyed now in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, please uproot every gate of adversity in my life and family today, in the mighty name of Jesus.

We are not divided,

All one body we

One in hope and doctrine,

One in charity.

CHORUS:

Onward, Christian soldiers!

Marching as to war,

Looking unto Jesus,

Who is gone before.

4. Crowns and thrones may perish,

Kingdom's rise and wane;

But the Church of Jesus

Constant will remain:

Gates of hell can never

'Gainst that church prevail;

We have Christ's own promise

And that cannot fail.

CHORUS:

Onward, Christian soldiers!

Marching as to war,

Looking unto Jesus,

Who is gone before.

5. Onward then, ye people,

Join our happy throng;

Blend with ours your voices

In the triumph song:

"Glory, praise and honour,

Unto Christ the King",

This, through countless ages,

Men and angels sing.

CHORUS:

Onward, Christian soldiers!

Marching as to war,

Looking unto Jesus,

Who is gone before.
