IKORODU RECITE 5.0 PLANNING COMMITTEE CONVENES HIGH-LEVEL CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH PANEL OF JUDGES AND AKINPELU FAMILY REPRESENTATIVE
As preparations gather momentum for the 5th edition of the annual Ikorodu Recite Quran Competition, the Central Planning Committee of the Ikorodu Central Mosque Youth (ICMY) held a crucial strategic and consultative meeting with its esteemed panel of judges and representatives of the family of Late Alh. Abubakar Akinpelu (Abel Abu) on Saturday.
The consultative session, presided over by the Planning Committee Chairman, Mr. Oshinlana Abideen, was aimed at finalising the technical framework, Tajweed evaluation criteria, and operational guidelines for the upcoming preliminary and final stages of the competition.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the presence of the family of Late Alh. Abubakar Akinpelu (Abel Abu), the Late Aare Adinni of Ikorodu Central Mosque, in whose honoured memory the annual Quranic event is organised. Alhaji Quam Akinpelu, son of the late icon, was ably represented at the meeting by Mr. Wasiu Shodunke.
Speaking during the session, Mr. Wasiu Shodunke conveyed the appreciation of the Akinpelu family to the Ikorodu Central Mosque Youth for sustaining the legacy of Late Alh. Abubakar Akinpelu through an initiative that fosters Quranic literacy and spiritual growth among the youth and elders of Ikorodu. He reaffirmed the family's continued backing and commitment toward ensuring the grand success of the 5th edition.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Oshinlana Abideen, commended the judges for their unwavering dedication and willingness to serve the Ummah. He noted that the expertise of the scholarly panel remains integral to maintaining the credibility, fairness, and high standards that Ikorodu Recite is known for.
The meeting concluded with a collective review of the competition timeline, including the registration closure on August 31, 2026, followed by the Preliminary Stages scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2026.
