GUARD YOUR OIL: 10 THINGS THAT QUIETLY KILL THE ANOINTING

The anointing is precious. Many lose it without knowing why. Guard your oil, protect your calling, and keep your fire burning.

The anointing is not a feeling. It is a spiritual mantle, an empowerment, a divine fragrance that makes you effective in God's kingdom. It is sustained by intimacy with God and alignment with His will. Many believers do not lose it suddenly, but through slow leaks—little compromises, small distractions, hidden wounds, and careless habits. What is not guarded will eventually be depleted.

These ten warnings reveal what weakens the anointing, how to avoid it, and how to remain full of fresh oil.

1. NEGLECTING PERSONAL PRAYER LIFE

The anointing dries up when prayer becomes occasional instead of daily. Prayer is the lifeline of the spirit; it keeps you connected to the Source of power.

Verse: "Pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Prayer: "Lord, restore my prayer fire. Keep my spirit burning day and night."

Declaration: My prayer altar is alive, active, and constantly burning.

2. LIVING IN UNCONFESSED SIN

Hidden sin breaks fellowship and suffocates spiritual power. What is concealed in the heart will eventually choke what God has placed in your spirit.

Verse: "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." (Psalm 66:18)

Prayer: "Father, cleanse my heart. Purify me from all hidden sin."

Declaration: My heart is clean and my spirit flows with fresh oil.

3. UNFORGIVENESS AND BITTERNESS

Bitterness contaminates your spirit and blocks the flow of grace. A wounded heart that refuses to heal becomes a closed vessel.

Verse: "Forgive as the Lord forgave you." (Colossians 3:13)

Prayer: "Lord, heal my heart and remove every root of bitterness."

Declaration: I release forgiveness and my anointing flows freely.

4. PRIDE AND SELF GLORY

Pride shifts focus from God to self and causes a withdrawal of divine grace. The anointing rests where God is honored, not where man is exalted.

Verse: "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6)

Prayer: "Lord, keep me humble and completely dependent on You."

Declaration: I walk in humility and the anointing increases on my life.

5. DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS

Delayed obedience is still disobedience, and it dulls spiritual sensitivity. Every ignored instruction weakens alignment with God’s purpose.

Verse: "To obey is better than sacrifice." (1 Samuel 15:22)

Prayer: "Father, give me grace to obey instantly."

Declaration: I obey God quickly and my anointing remains strong.

6. CARNALITY AND FLESHLY LIVING

A worldly lifestyle suffocates spiritual fire. The flesh competes with the Spirit, and what you feed will grow stronger.

Verse: "Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16)

Prayer: "Holy Spirit, help me discipline my flesh."

Declaration: I walk in the Spirit and my fire remains pure.

7. WRONG RELATIONSHIPS AND SPIRITUAL MIXTURES

Associations can either drain your oil or multiply it. What surrounds you will eventually shape you.

Verse: "Bad company corrupts good character." (1 Corinthians 15:33)

Prayer: "Lord, separate me from every relationship killing my anointing."

Declaration: I walk with people who sharpen my fire and calling.

8. NEGLECTING THE WORD OF GOD

Ignoring Scripture leads to spiritual starvation. The Word is fuel; without it, the fire cannot be sustained.

Verse: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." (Luke 4:4)

Prayer: "Lord, give me hunger for Your Word."

Declaration: The Word strengthens me and my anointing stays sharp.

9. JEALOUSY AND COMPETITION IN MINISTRY

Envy corrupts purity and weakens the grace God has given you. Comparison distracts you from your divine assignment.

Verse: "Where envy exists, there is confusion and evil work." (James 3:16)

Prayer: "Father, remove every spirit of comparison from me."

Declaration: I celebrate others and stay focused on my divine assignment.

10. FAILURE TO HONOR SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

Dishonor closes spiritual gates and limits impartation. Honor positions you to receive what God has placed in others.

Verse: "Obey those who rule over you... for they watch over your souls." (Hebrews 13:17)

Prayer: "Lord, teach me honor and submission to spiritual authority."

Declaration: I walk in honor and my anointing multiplies.

KEEP YOUR OIL FLOWING

Your anointing is your life. Protect it. Guard it. Feed it. Fight for it. The oil flows where there is consecration, consistency, and surrender. What you nurture will grow, and what you neglect will fade.

When the oil flows, destiny opens. When the oil dries, spiritual influence fades.

Remain watchful. Remain faithful. Remain full.

THE FRIENDS WHO CARRIED HIM

The Bible tells us a powerful story about a man who was sick, paralyzed and helpless. He could not walk. He could not move himself. He could not even take himself to Jesus. But thank God… he had friends.

The Bible says “they carried him.”
Not advised him.
Not prayed from afar.
Not wished him well.
They carried him.

When they got to where Jesus was, the crowd was too much. There was no space. Any ordinary friend would have said, “Let us come back another day.” But true friends don’t retreat when things get hard. They climbed the roof. They broke the roof. They lowered him down right in front of Jesus.

That action tells us something deep:
Not all friends are real friends.

Some friends disappear when your sickness shows.
Some friends are allergic to your weakness.
Some friends only know you when you are strong.
Some friends are enemies wearing the mask of friendship.

But these ones? They stayed.

5 LESSONS ON TRUE FRIENDSHIP FROM THIS STORY

(1). TRUE FRIENDS CARRY YOU WHEN YOU CANNOT CARRY YOURSELF

When you are weak, broken, sick, confused, or stranded, true friends don’t mock you, they lift you. Anyone who abandons you in your season of weakness is not a friend.

“A friend loveth at all times…” (Proverbs 17:17)

(2). TRUE FRIENDS DON'T GIVE UP BECAUSE OF OBSTACLES.

The crowd was an excuse. The roof was a barrier. But they refused excuses. True friends don’t stop because it’s hard. They look for another way.

Fake friends quit easily.
Real friends press harder.

(3). TRUE FRIENDS ARE WILLING TO PAY A PRICE FOR YOUR HEALING.

Breaking a roof was costly. Someone had to answer questions later. True friends are not cheap. They are willing to risk reputation, comfort, and convenience for your restoration.

If your “friendship” costs nothing, it may be worth nothing.

(4). TRUE FRIENDS BRIN YOU CLOSER TO JESUS, NIT FARTHER

They didn’t take him to gossip.
They didn’t take him to human opinion.
They took him straight to Jesus.

Any friend that pulls you away from God, prayer, truth, and righteousness is not helping you, they are destroying you slowly.

(5). True friends stay until the testimony comes

They didn’t leave him on the roof.
They didn’t drop him halfway.
They waited until Jesus spoke.

And when Jesus healed him, his healing became their testimony too.

Not everyone around you is sent to help you rise. Some are sent to watch you fall. Some are sent to drain you. Some are sent to abandon you.

But pray for friends who will Carry you, Fight for you, Pray for you, Push you to Jesus, Stay with you until your story changes

“There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

HAVE YOU NOT NOTICED????
Have you not noticed that many who have little knowledge of the Word often do greater exploits than those who can expertly handle exegesis/Rhema/Hebrews and Greek.

Have you not seen that God uses men who pray for power more than those who say, “We already have the Holy Ghost, who is the power of God in us so praying for power is a taboo”?

Have you not observed that those who still say, “Let us invite the presence of the Lord into our midst,” often experience more than those who say, “When I move, the Holy Ghost moves. He is in me; there is no need to invite Him, it’s just consciousness”?

Have you not discovered that those that doesn't speak in tongues often do supernatural than those that open their mouth at any slightest chance to pray...blast in tongues..saying what they don't know.

Have you not sensed that some disciples, followers of a certain man of God mimick how their master speaks in tongues and do what they do and sometimes study their boss rather than study the scriptures and live by it?

Don't tell me you don't know that some church founders are now talking more of mentorship while they don't allow Jesus Christ to mentor them through meditating, praying, loving , forgiving, giving and demonstrating His power

Have you not seen that those who believe they can lose their salvation often live more cautiously and righteously than those who loudly proclaim eternal security?

I can go on and on.

The most important thing is not the rhema you caught, but the life you live.

Truth without reverence produces pride.
Knowledge without brokenness produces noise.

Cheers to a new year full of hope, expectations and ground breaking achievements...year 2026.

As loaded as this year is, it you must achieve all you desires, you have to be ready to do all that is required of you.

No one achieve greatness by folding of hands and wishes...if you fold your hands, you will only live in reality of hunger and scarcity.... Proverbs 24 vs33-34.

Just as my father in the Lord says, in they are 3 D's you must not joke with..
DECISION, DECIDES ,DESTINY.

IM Daniel chapter 1 vs8..Bible says Daniel purpose in his heart..what have you decided to do with your life as new year begins today? If you are among the ignorant ones that went to church for a cross over and shouting (Amen ) excellently and claimed both real and fake, dotted and delusional prophesies but not ready to do anything this year..I can assure you, you are heading to nothing as usual

In Genesis 26 vs 12, Isaac sowed in the land and harvested in hundredfolds, if you are not ready to do anything, there is nothing for you to harvest..Don't go and waste most productive time in mountain, churches, camp and secret places alone without ability to do something...the blessing of God is for those who are up and doing...the active ones not those who have replaced hard work with prayers and are now saying God doesn't hear prayers...He does but ,you have to follow the principles that universe answers to...

There are so many prophesies released by good, dependable and faithful servant of God among them are the followings.
A) God will reward all your efforts with success.. Deuteronomy 28 vs 11-13.

B) Farmers rejoice again as the Lord will visit you once again..you will live in abundance and surplus...millions and billions are knocking at your doors...Genesis 26 vs 12.

C) There are going to be outbreak of deadly diseases in the air..that will caused uncontrollable death of so many people..but I pray it won't come near you. Psalm 91.

D) The end has come for two countries leaders...they should be prepared to go on a journey of no return..

E)This year, is a year of opportunities..please tap into any opportunity that comes your way, either you know how to do something or not..key into it and get it..

F) A very brutal and bloody root and revolution is breaking through in a country that is a reference point in Africa.. the citizen will even be ready to die because the anger would be so much of the government failed to do what should be done .

G) This is a year of outpouring of fire of revival like never before..people will serve God in a way that will amazes others. Etc.

I pray for you, you will not lose all the valuables you enter this year with..

Beware of fire outbreaks..in some state capitals in Nigeria..

WE ARE CONVERTED BY THE WORD
Colossians 3:10 – “…and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…”

One may study the Bible for years. If he does not act it, live it and is not a doer, the mind is not renewed. We are converted by the Word. The Word we are talking about is not in the book, not on the written page but on the lips of the believer. The mind is renewed by studying the Word and by acting upon it. To bring Jesus on the scene, the Living Word must live in you, grow in you and get into your blood to gain supremacy over you. Don’t just commit the Word to memory, let it become an integral part of your being. It should live in you. The Word carries you beyond the realm of sense knowledge into the very presence of God, giving you a right standing there. There you meet God face to face.
