Message: - THE POWER OF CHOICE
Text: - Joshua 24:13-15

Choice has been one of the free gift of nature, right from creation. Choices are being made in every day of our lives and we are fully responsible for our choices. The word, “Choice” is a serious issue to deal with, it is a decision that can either get you solution to your problems or get you into serious problem.

Whether right or wrong, it has the power to make and unmake, the result most times can be irreversible. The state of things in the present is a reflection of the choices we made in the past – Selah!
Choice can be influence EXTERNALLY or INTERNALLY. Someone can change your direction, mentality or destiny through manipulating what you choose -(EXTERNAL). These people are your friends, relations etc. likewise, what you hear and see can also cause great effect on your choices - (INTERNAL).

When it comes to choice, God’s is not responsible, because we were given the POWER to CHOOSE Isaiah 1:19. It is disheartening to state here that right from creation man has always reject God. God wants to be in our everyday routine, He will influence and facilitate our choices to work in tandem with His purpose for us Hallelujah!

Our discussion will be pointed at two (2) situations that influence our choices.

1). BAD TIME (Days of lack, suffering): Within this time some do give up. Some will ask, “Is there God?” others will say, “God never existed’. Well, If one cannot serve God when times are rough, it’s as good to say that such person will not serve God when times are good. Jesus was abandoned in bad time, He did cope; can you? Bad time is when you lose friends, nobody will come close or even choose you. Only few see their paradise through this time (These are true believers). Remember, this is a test of time and faith. Our response during this period determines whether we are ripe for the crown or not. So many Christians forget their identity during bad times, some tend to yield to the calling of evil, only few remember God and look up to the hills.

2). GOOD TIME (Surplus, merriment, prosperity): Some will say, “I can never forget my Saviour in good times”. Well, that is a good confession, but not only bad time influences choice - abundance in productivity can as well ruin your sense of reasoning. Good time often take Christians unaware of the choices we make. God’s blessings should not attract disrespect. Why should we worship ourselves? Why the boasting? Why pride? Your position and status is lifted high, why reject God? Luke 12:16-20. You can see that Good time is taking over the spiritual senses. No wonder Jesus Christ said earlier that, “…it is easier for a camel to walk through an eye of a needle than for a rich man to see God’s kingdom” We choose to live a life of merriment, then displaced God.
BELIEVERS should not forget their past (Bad times). Temptations may come to make us forsake Christ, we become more ambitious and eventually lose the vision. God is interested in our vision and want to give us direction to make right choices Joshua 21:43-45. Ambitions without God leads frustration.

It is easy to follow the wrong direction but with God our choices are sure and secure. When we choose without God, the outcome (Good or bad) will be reap in distant time to come.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I don’t want to choose the wrong path – I need divine direction to make the right choice.
Remain bless.

Message: ENVY AND JEALOUSY
Text: Genesis 26:11-17

Envy is the godfather of retardation, it’s a lover of unproductivity – Senior Pastor, GCFC.

Envy is the manifestation of satan’s true nature. Satan is a hater of progress (esp.) when it concern God’s children.
Envy causes disaster in the mind of its carrier. Be steadfast with an envious person! Envy thrives immensely in our world today. Nobody want to see you making progress in life. That is why this message is here to enlighten the average Christian to sit up and tighten the knot, knowing quite well that the blessing of God creates envy among friends and foes.

As a true believer, it is certain that God is going to water the seeds (maybe through tithes, offerings, good deeds etc.) of our hands in due course. When this time finally comes, envy and jealousy will and must be establish. A believer must have it in mind that it is either he sustain the blessings of God or loose it amidst jealousy and envy. Disheartening, is the fact that so many supposed-to-be-prosperous believers were stopped by enviers.

Believers should be aware of these set of people while asking God for blessings. Unknowingly to you, someone might be jealous of your possessions, children, achievements, societal high-ranking and many more. We as believers, we are blessing carriers, the earlier we admit the presence of envy around us, the better, because it gives us grounds to prepare for whatsoever comes may. The bible, in the book of Genesis, recorded the first event where envy took place. It happened in the time of Cain and Abel, though they were close pals but the manifestation of this evil (envy and jealousy) caused great damage and at the end a true child of God lost his life. You may ask, where was God? Well, God is responsible for blessings, He is not responsible when evil befalls His blessing. Refer back as at the time Satan was cast down to earth… the bible recorded an exclamation, “Woe unto the inhabitant of the earth…” Woe means, ‘great sorrow or distress, troubles”. What makes you think there will be no more troubles when your prayers are answered, when you finally take-in (pregnancy), when you finally get your dream job, when you finally drive that car, when you finally get married, who told you there will be no problems, Wait! Problems are ahead at every given step you make in life.

Several others like Esau, Samson lost what was theirs to those who envied them. You may want to know how.

- ESAU
This man was supposed to be the backbone on which the covenant between Father Abraham and God will be resting, but never knew how envious Jacob his brother is, knowing that the first child is to claim all rights and belongings of the father. This troubled Jacob for so long, waiting for a chance to restructure God’s plan. Believers must not take chance to destroy every trace of envy on their way. Esau (as an average Christian) sold his blessings foolishly to Jacob the envier. Esau was fooled into setting the cart before the horse. A child of God must be wise when it comes to making crucial decisions especially, one between a jealous person.

- SAMSON
The most foolish Judge Israel has ever had. God gave him all. Till date, no one has possess such strength like Samson’s. Amidst the blessings God bestowed on Samson, he was reckless, disobedient and unwise. Though, his powers during his reign was useful/meaningful until those (the enviers, Palestinians) that say he must not journey to the end of his destiny succeeded in mapping out a way to destroy Sampson through what he like best (womanizing).
When a jealous person mean harm, he will be a friend to those around his victim so as to ignite every bit of information gotten about his victim for effective destruction. Samson lost his blessing in his enemy’s camp while eating and dining with people of envy and jealousy. Why call a person “A Friend” when you have little or no knowledge about him or her. Sometimes our friends are our problem, the earlier we recognize the fake ones, the nearer we are to the solution to our problems.

With much studies, it is observed that 95% of our problems are caused by us. God made it a necessity that His children must prosper no matter the circumstance, it is left for us to know if the beneficiaries of our prosperity are happy for us or not.
Isaac was another man who succeeded and marched pass the line of prosperity in the land Gera while the people (inhabitants) of Gera continue failing, though the this guys (people of Gera) did not know the source of Isaac’s success and that is why your enemies must die for fighting the unknown. God’s blessing is never hidden. You can be a nobody today, but when God finally bring you to limelight, people must say something good or bad about you. Read. 1 Samuel 18:7-9, 10-11, Daniel 6:1-5, Matthew 27:15-18.

Brethren! Even our Lord Jesus Christ suffered ENVY AND JEALOUSY. John 7:38, John 8:12

PRAYER POINT: Lord Jesus give me the power to sustain your blessings in my life.

Remain bless.
