Escaping the Corruption that is in the World.

by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 1 Peter 1:4

The major consequence of believing in Christ Jesus Christ and being saved is the New Creation. The new creation involves forgivess of sin, receiving a new heart of flesh upon which the laws of God is inscribed as against the heart of stone. Most importantly it includes the gift of a new spirit carrying the very nature of divinity, in which the Holy Spirit dwells.

When this happens, we were given an escape from the corruption that is in the world through lust. The words salvation and escape are synonyms. You don't need salvation if there's no threat to your life and peace. You don't need to escape what's not a threat to your wellbeing. The new creation and the nature of God we partake of to gain it, is our means of escape, it is our salvation.

The escape is from the corruption that is in the world through lust. Corruption means decadence, losing consistency, being eaten up by bacteria, it is a process of being broken down, decomposition, rottenness, losing integrity, not being able to hold together as one piece, breaking into pieces, unreliable, losing identity, changing composition, etc. This is what the nature of God saves us from, without us having the nature of God, we would become victims of the corruption that is in the world.

This underscores the fact that there's corruption in the world that we should escape from. It came through lust and it's purpose is to destroy us and make us decay. Lust is that selfish ungodly sense of need that mankind acquired through sin, by which it craves for things God hasn't made for it to satisfy its appetites. They are desires that are out of course, and outside of the plans of God for mankind. Lust pushes mankind to use what God has given for certain purposes to be adapted to acquire ungodly desires different from the fundamental reasons why they were given.

These lusts are meant to kill and corrupt those who live in them. Things hardly decay before death. If something alive is decaying, it is because the process of death is already at work. In a physical body, such parts are quickly amputated to forestall death to the whole body. Spiritually, it is the life of God that drives the power of spiritual death away, and even physical death sometimes. The life and the nature of God are synonymous. It is called eternal life, it is above human life and administered by the Holy Spirit.

10And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8

Romans 8:11-12 shows us how it affects us both physically and spiritually to make us escape corruption and spiritual death. With the nature and the life of God at work in us, we become free from the obligations of the flesh. We don't have to obey the flesh anymore, the flesh carries death, and to obey it is to die.

The flesh here isn't our bodies. Our bodies are given life, the life of God by the Holy Spirit by which we enjoy the power of Christ's resurrection and the activities that take us away from sin. The flesh is a spiritual entity and not a physical thing in the register of words in the New Testament. It is the residue of the dead spirit of Adam from the forceful evolution that occurred to him when he ate the forbidden fruit.

The dead human spirit from Adam is what is called the flesh. It is corrupt, and filled with death. To be fleshly minded is death. This is well explained in Romans 6, it is the software of sin which powers ungodliness in humanity, Ephesians 2:1-3. There is an evolution coming to mankind through the life of God in Christ Jesus by which our physical bodies will give way to the kind of body Christ resurrected with, that can exist and travel between the spiritual and the physical at unimaginable frequency and speed, the life and the nature of God we carry ensure this at the final resurrection, the final escape from the corruption that's is the world. 1 John 3:1-2; Philippians 3:20-21

A believer must understand this so as not to continue living in the flesh and experiencing death. We have all that it takes in the New Creation to live free from sin and manifest God through the recreated human spirit, the nature/life of God and the workings of the Holy Spirit. When we take advantage of this by appropriation through faith and understanding, we escape the corruption that's in the world, as the resurrection power of the Spirit maintaining the supply of the life of God in us. This is where the fruit of the Spirit emanates from in a free flow of the manifestation of God through mankind.

There's a destruction we escape from when we live by the divine nature we partake of. There is an eternal corruption we escape from as the divine nature raises us up from death both now and at the resurrection. We must never forget that!

When you are called a Pastor...

There are 'pastors' of the church of Mammon they aren't pastors according to Ephesians 4:11 or Jeremiah 3:15 and definitely not the one the Scriptures speak about in Hebrews 13:7, such should not be treated like those in Hebrews 13:17...

If you are going by the title of a Pastor, make sure you are one of those given as gifts to the body of Christ for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry towards growth to the fullness of the measure of of the stature of Christ. Ephesians 4:11&12

Make sure you are one after God's heart given to feed God's sheep with knowledge and with understanding of God and of godliness. Jeremiah 3:15

If you are called a pastor, make sure yours is a faith that can be followed and modelled after to become like Christ considering your godly and Christlike lifestyle. Hebrews 13:7

If you are called a pastor, make sure you love Christ enough to feed and to tend His sheep and lambs. John 21:15-17

If you put pastor, prophet, apostle, bishop, Rev or any such titles as a title instead of Mr or Mrs before your name make sure your belly, that is your appetites for food, fame, fans, fantasies, vanities, glories and girls, is not your god. Philippians 3:19

If you are called called a pastor, make sure you are not a merchant who through covetiousness would make merchandise of God's people 2Peter 21-3

If you are called a pastor, make sure you are not a worshipper or servant of money, let not gain be godliness to your heart and in your doctrines. Matthew 6:24

If you are called a pastor, deal with every one in all purity, the older men as fathers, the older women as mothers, the younger men as brothers and the younger women as sisters without any manipulation for selfish gain or abuse for self care. 1Timothy 5:1&2

If you are called a pastor, be a shepherd under the great Shepherd, don't be a hireling who seeks his or her own and runs when trouble comes. John 10:12&13

If you know you aren't gifted with what it takes to be all a pastor, a servant of Christ should be, then don't take the title, don't take the office. 1Peter 4:10&11; 1Timothy 4:6

If people call you pastor make sure those who follow you are following Christ 1Corinthians 11:1. Let them only follow because you follow Christ.

It's about time to stop messing up the name of Christ using a title too big for you. Judgement is coming and it will start right in the house of God. 1Peter 4 :17

If you call someone a pastor, make sure you know he or she is called with the grace not just to talk but to live a life worth emulating. If the fruit isn't identifying him or her, his or her flowers won't show forth God's approval. Matthew 7:16-20

If you call him or her a pastor, make sure he or she is a gift given by Christ to represent Him in delivering the grace of a shepherd and not that of a butcher who cares only about taking care of themselves. Ezekiel 34:2

There are hunters and gatherers, wolves in sheep's clothing beware of who you're submitting your life to. Let God, and not your own lusts lead you to the pastor God has sent to you. Matthew 7:15

The Lord was with Joseph 2

God wants to be with us. The Scriptures say He is not far from any of us. He is as close as we want Him to be to us. He said when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. It is a matter of our consciousness of Him. David said He set the Lord always before himself, even in the days when God wasn't worshipped in spirit, in those days when He was only in the Holy of Holies and only the High Priest would dare go in there once a year with fear and trepidation. But David set the Lord always before himself and God didn't object to his innovation because that is what He wants.

8I have set the LORD always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken Psalm 16

The Lord was with Joseph, not because it was Joseph but because Joseph lived in the consciousness of God. He is not far from any of us.

26And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us. Acts 27

As near as He is to us, we can still live in a no-God zone of existence. It all depends on the individual. God has done everything possible for any one of us in Christ Jesus through the shedding of His blood, no matter how sinful, to get into fellowship with Him. He isn't far from any of us. 1John 1:7

We determine how close God is to us. Listen to what the Scriptures say.

8Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

The cleaning and purification we need is in Christ Jesus and in His blood. It is ever available at no cost. Our hearts must be devoid of doubts, we must not be double minded about Him and about who He is. If we would humble ourselves and come near, we shall in no way be cast away. He is not far, we are the one who should seek Him and we would indeed find Him, if we seek with the whole of our hearts.

6“Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near;
7let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55

Joseph enjoyed God's presence. You'll hear the Scriptures saying, and the Lord was with Joseph, as he went through all the difficult pathway into divine destiny to preserve life and to fulfill divine destiny. We envy him as if that's exclusive to him, but God has no favorites. He respects no one's personality. If anyone seeks Him, such will find Him.

Listen to what Jesus said.
28So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. 29And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.” John 8

We must draw ourselves away from things that draw us away from God and the greatest of them isn't outside us but in us. Self is the major barrier between a person and God. Self struggles for it's own pleasure at the expense of God's pleasure. But if we want more of God there has to be less of self, in fact, there has to be none of self. John, the Baptist said, I must decrease while He must increase. That's the order if we want to see the manifest presence of God in our personal lives. Two masters can't run same ship, no servant can have two masters to obey same time. Self must be crucified for Christ to live.

Most of the things that are so difficult in our walk with God will naturally disappear when God takes over. When Christ lives and we die, sin too dies in us. The carnal will give way to the spiritual, and the natural will give way to the supernatural. Less of us will be seen, and more of God will manifest. His glory will take over from our shame. He will go ahead of us and level the mountains, fill up the valleys, make the crooked ways straight and make the rough roads smooth. If God be for us who can be against us.

If God be with us, we fear no evil, even when we walk in the valley of the shadow of death. The sea saw that presence and fled, Jordan was driven back, the mountain skipped like rams and the little hills like lambs as they tremble at the presence of the God of Jacob, even the flinty rock became a standing water, because all of His creation must bow before Him in worship and obeisance, Psalm 114. This is more than any earthly glory. It isn't the passing glory of a celebrity, it is the glory of God that never fades away. It may be silent but it is emphatic. It can be with us day and night as a covering and as light.

Let's end this with what the Scriptures say in Hebrews...

5Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6So we can confidently say,

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13

Because He never leaves not forsakes, we can do without loving money, we can keep covetousness out of our lives. Suggesting that covetousness is a major reason why we don't draw near to God. Self wants pleasure, and that pleasure is served on the platter of covetousness and love of money. But when we have God, He fills that space. Because He never leaves not forsakes, He helps us and we fear nothing because He is with us. The fear of poverty and the love of money and pleasure have kept many from seeking God, but when we have God, we have all. If God be with us, nothing can be against us. If God isn't with us, money and fame can't help us in the evil day. I'm all your seeking seek God. Let His presence go with you! Exodus 33'15

The Lord was with Joseph, and that was enough to bring him from being a slave to becoming the prime minister of the most powerful country in the world. The Lord was with Joseph and was enough to take him from someone owned by another person to him owning all the treasures of Egypt. Let's wise up, let's seek God and we will find Him, He wants to be found and that makes it easy if we would seek Him. Don't let us be like the wicked who would not seek God.

3For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul,
and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the LORD.
4In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him;
all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” Psalm 10

Authority for Edification: The Bible Class, TBC Audios. 2 Corinthians 10: Part 2

Authority is one of the fundamental tools of leadership. Without it, leadership is paralysed, and would hardly be good, even, for aesthetical decoration. But authority as a tool must be skillfully mastered, because it is also what creates demons of authoritarianism and destruction.

So, when apostle Paul had to remind the Corinthians how they had the authority they had to do what they did at Corinth, he also quickly added that the authority they had was for edification and not for destruction. Everyone in position of power must understand this to avoid the errors of abuse of power which is always devastating, not only on the oppressed followers but also on the person in the position of power. It never ends well whenever power is abused to oppress.

At The Bible Class, TBC this week we mentioned briefly the 5 basic things we expect authentic authority to do fairly and justly…which include

Giving commands and instructions

Giving motivation, encouragement and charges

Demanding commitments and dedication

Giving rewards and commendations

Giving corrections, disciplines and chastisement

There's none of the 5 that can be removed if authority is to accomplish its goals. Authority is the right the leader has to binding obedience and positive response that are needed to get the team or the organisation operating without chaos or crisis towards the accomplishment of the corporate goals of the system.

Here, I am sharing the audio file for the last edition of The Bible Class, TBC, 2Corinthians 10 Part 2: Authority for Edification. Please enjoy and share

The Remnant and the Short Work...

The Bible Class, TBC resumes today after a week absence, with another chapter of the book of Romans...now chapter 9.
After the journey from chapter 1 where he had laid down the fundamental doctrine he intended to pass across, Paul, the Apostle, couldn't hold back his emotions towards his people, the Jews. He outlined those advantages they had in the ordinances of God and went on to explain why it seems those promises eluded them. It's not as if the promises of God had not been fulfilled but but because 'they are not all Israel who are of Israel', there's only a remnant through the election of faith.

In this chapter, we'll encounter the issue of divine election and predestination, divine sovereignty, seeking righteousness by faith and by the works of the law and the consequences of each pursuit. One question that should always come to mind studying this chapter is if there are people already prepared for salvation and those already prepared for destruction...

Would you join us tonight by 6pm WAT on my Facebook profile page https://www.facebook.com/evans.a.emmanuel so we can study together and enjoy fellowship in the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in God's knowledge.
