PAP SHEIKH is a university of thought and an encyclopedia of manner that all the seekers of Allah need to study. May Allah be pleased with him and grant us his BARAKA.
1. Humility (Al-Tawadu')
A Sufi is humble and recognizes their own limitations. As the Quran states, "And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth in sedateness and humility..." (Quran 25:63). Humility is the foundation of the Sufi path, as it allows the seeker to recognize their own weaknesses and limitations.
2. Compassion (Al-Rahmah)
A Sufi shows compassion and empathy towards all creation. As the Hadith states, "Show compassion to those on earth, and He Who is in heaven will show compassion to you." (Tirmidhi). Compassion is a fundamental aspect of the Sufi path, as it allows the seeker to connect with others and cultivate a sense of unity and oneness.
3. Self-Awareness (Al-Ma'rifah)
A Sufi has a deep understanding of their own strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. As the Hadith states, "He who knows himself, knows his Lord." (Bukhari). Self-awareness is essential for the Sufi seeker, as it allows them to recognize their own limitations and weaknesses, and to cultivate a deeper sense of awareness and understanding.
4. Gratitude (Al-Shukr)
A Sufi is grateful for the blessings and mercy of Allah. As the Quran states, "And be grateful to Allah, if it is He that you worship." (Quran 2:152). Gratitude is a fundamental aspect of the Sufi path, as it allows the seeker to cultivate a sense of appreciation and thankfulness for the blessings and mercy of Allah.
5. Patience (Al-Sabr)
A Sufi is patient and persevering in the face of challenges and difficulties. As the Quran states, "And be patient, for indeed, Allah is with those who are patient." (Quran 2:153). Patience is essential for the Sufi seeker, as it allows them to cultivate a sense of perseverance and determination in the face of challenges and difficulties.
