Lesson 7: PAUL'S DISCIPLINARY INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CORINTHIANS

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 2:6-7 This punishment which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man, so that on the contrary you ought rather to forgiveand comfort him lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with too much sorrow" NKJV

Discipline is a process of exerting corrective measures and steps to restore one who falls short of well doing.

These could be instructions, processes, and actions that brings betterment and transformation to a believer.

Discipline in most cases are not palatable as some see it as a punishment for doing evil.

Paul's admonition was centered on the discipline he expressed to the Corinthian church and he beseech everyone to forgive and comfort those who are being Disciplined.

Discipline when rooted in genuine love, must heal, restore and not to destroy the disciple.

It is very paramount to exercise forgiveness and comfort to the stumbling believer like the father of the prodigal son's father, who opened his hands to comfort his son's bleeding heart.

When we despise the sinning believer or offender, their heart grows cold becomes weary full of sorrow and if left alone can be worse off. 

God's boundless mercy and readiness to forgive far outweigh our sins and weaknesses. We are loved exceedingly by God. Ps 103:10.

Don't run away from disciplinary instructions but follow them and adhere to them because in them lies your restoration and uplifting.

We had the privilege of hosting our AGS Pastor Femi Odeyemi and it was a great time in the house of the Lord.

The word of the Lord came with an avalanche of wisdom, power and grace and we were really blessed by his visit.

Indeed we have shifted in the spirit.

We pray that the Lord will continue to uphold our AGS with more unction, anointing, power and wisdom to do God's business and we pray God's power upon his life will never run dry in Jesus name Amen.

Lesson 6: RESTORATIVE DISCIPLINE: A CALL TO REPENTANCE.

Memory Verse: Galatians 6:1 - Brethren if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of gentleness considering yourself lest you also be not tempted" NKJV

Restoration is a process or result of returning something or someone to its original, rightful or improved condition.

It is a journey of returning to you to your original divine nature and essence.

Restorative discipline is a process of healing past wounds, stripping away layers of guilt or pain and realignment with God's original purpose for you.
Restorative discipline is far beyond just mere recovery, it simply means emerging more stronger and more wholesome than before.

Apostle Paul in Galatians 6 was in the context of restoring a brother or sister in Christ who are in sin or trespass.

It takes the spirit of gentleness and humility to restore a straying believer.

The call to salvation is for everyone.

Restorative discipline is a spiritual exercise and not a carnal, casual process, Hence it must not be done to humiliate or castigate  a straying believer. 

The restorer must be aware of his own vulnerability and temptation which will help them take caution and action.

It is godly sorrow that leads to repentance.

The end of godly sorrow is a transformed life with godly evidence of restored relationship with God, spiritual growth and intimacy with God.

Peter, Paul ,Jonah and David showed a perfect example of godly sorrow. They never went back to their sins.

We must not reject or discard discipline for any reason because of the consequences are usually great.

On no circumstances must the discipline brethren be stigmatized by the church.

Lesson 4: THE ROLES OF CHURCH LEADERSHIP IN DISCIPLINE.

Memory Verse: 1 Tim 5:20 - Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear" NKJV

Church leaders plays a vital role in maintaining discipline, upholding godly character and fostering corrective rebuke.

Leadership in the church of God is a sacred position reserved by God for matured believers with godly character.

Godly character is a pre-requisite for becoming a leader in the church not eloquence, charisma or competence.

They must be holy with their lives reflecting Christ both in public and secret life, being doctrinally sound to correct errors.

Church leaders must be spiritually alert by demonstrating watchfulness and correcting/rebuking sinners promptly with a redemptive purpose.

A true shepherd watches, warns and weeps over the church.

Every leader will give account not only for the word they preach but also the flocks committed to them by God. Ezekiel 3:17-21.

Tomorrow is another Special Sunday of Prayer & Deliverance, and God has prepared a divine encounter for everyone who will be present. The theme is:
