In collaboration with Cottage of Hope, Rehabilitation and Empowerment Centre, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation supplied Salbutamol Syrup – (Asthma medication for adults and children) for IDP camps in Kaduna State. Salbutamol is used to rapidly treat asthma, bronchospasm, and reversible airways obstruction by widening the airways of the lungs.

The medication was received by the medical personnel who had earlier attended to the case of skin infection at Mercy IDP Camp, Zonkwa.

It is expected that the medication shall be of benefit to the affected persecuted brethren.

𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲

In the eastern DRC's war-torn province, it was a sweltering June day. The 18-year-old Matthew was telling his story through an interpreter as I sat across from him and listened. Sarah, his nine-year-old younger sister, sat to his right. As he spoke, she kept looking straight ahead.

The two siblings had to see both of their parents being brutally murdered by Islamic terrorists just one month earlier.

They shouted "Allahu Akbar" while speaking Arabic as they were shooting victims. Matt said in a matter-of-fact manner. "The rebels were Muslim (extremists), and some of them chopped their necks and heads. They praised Allah when they killed someone, they stated.

The rebels, Matthew later told me, were members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), the largest rebel group in the conflict-ridden DRC. Though many claim that the group is only Islamic in name, they have in recent years been increasing their relationship with the Islamic State and, in 2021, was claimed as an affiliate by ISIS.

For Matthew, the motive behind ADF’s destruction led to a day that would change his life forever.

On May 13th, 2022, Matthew, Sarah, and their three other siblings were home with their parents when dozens of ADF fighters ambushed their village. While the children fled into the bushes, their parents were caught and killed. Hours later, the terrorists found the group of siblings and took them, along with 20 other villagers, away as hostages.

“They took us into the hills. We travelled for three days, and they told me they were taking us to the very big camp where everything would be explained,” said Matthew.

He added that his captors were forcing several of the hostages to become Muslims. Their goal, he was told, was to Islamize all the Congo and spread Islam throughout East Africa.

“If you say, ‘Yes I will become a Muslim,’ they will take you outside for training to become a rebel. If you refuse, then they will kill you. For me, I escaped before having to make my decision.”

Three days after their abduction, soldiers of the Congolese national army stormed the ADF hideout. Matthew and Sarah were among a few Christians rescued that day.

Later, the two would find out that their three siblings also escaped and were in a town a few hours away. The five brothers and sisters are now hoping to reunite and live together as a family once again. Through your generous donations, ICC is working to make this dream a reality.

Please pray for Matthew, Sarah, and the rest of their family, that the Lord brings them healing and gives them the hope only He can provide. Please also continue to pray for the healing of those traumatized by violence in the DRC, and for the Lord to comfort those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, as well as for the love of Jesus to redeem the souls of those who persecute the church.

On September 13, while en route to Kazakhstan in the papal aircraft, Pope Francis told reporters that he is prepared to travel to China.

In order to attend the Seventh Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, a triennial interfaith conference, Pope Francis began his three-day "pilgrimage of peace" on Tuesday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to visit Kazakhstan on Sept. 14 to meet with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, leading many to suspect a potential meeting between Pope Francis and President Xi.

While the pope said that he’s ready to go to China, he did not “have any news” about the speculation that he might meet Xi during the trip.

The coinciding visits of the two leaders come as the Vatican and China set to renew a controversial provisional agreement on bishop appointment that will expire in October this year. In spite of such deal, the underground Chinese Catholics continue to face crackdown from Beijing in the past years.

Lay Faithful Trust Foundation, in collaboration with VFC, conducted another distribution of clothes to Christian IDPs in Southern Kaduna.
The distribution took place at ECWA Widows Training Centre, Samaru Kataf, Southern Kaduna.

In response to divine promptings in April this year, an emergency call went out, inviting Christians to three nights of strategic national online prayers through the Passover/Easter/Ramadan dates which, strangely in 2022, all aligned in the same season. At the end of the three nights, it was the general perception among the many global participants that the prayers should be sustained until we have sensed the Spirit’s release to suspend. Thus has begun an ongoing enthusiastic trans-denominational nightly national prayer altar with participants from nations in Europe, North Africa, Asia, southern Africa, the Caribbean, Australia, Canada, the United States of America, and all the regions of Nigeria.

Every night at 9pm since April 18, between 250 – 350 (sometimes more) people from across several denominational backgrounds, some of them prominent leaders of their churches/organizations, have met to pray _“all kinds of prayers”_ (Eph 6:18, NIV) for Nigeria, with encouraging testimonies. There have been inspired confessions of national and individual transgressions, key national and global leaders of intercession have had moments to share their insights and lead corporate prayers, strictly women from each geo-political region of Nigeria as well as in the diaspora have had a weeklong session of tearful nightly lamentations for the healing of the land, Spirit-prompted specialized prophetic prayers have been made, some involving aged men and women, some addressing nature, and at least one memorable night of eminent Christian lawyers taking the case of the land before the Court of the Judge of all the Earth (Gen 18:25). Critical visions and revelations have been discreetly shared at that prayer altar as well as on the WhatsApp and Telegram platforms for participants many of whom have confessed to a better understanding of Nigeria's prophetic destiny, to personal healings and other miracles as well as a revival of their prayer life.

It has been profoundly insightful, praying prayers based on the scriptures, receiving personal and national words of knowledge as well as deep scriptural and spiritual insights. No titles, no denominations - just remnants interceding. Beloved, there is a revival going on. We come to you because we won’t be doing good to not share the good news (2 Kings 7:9).

Persuaded by the scriptures about the power in numbers and the authority of the New Testament believer (Eccl 4:12; Deut. 32:30; Luke 10:19), we are impelled to share this good news of a brewing revival, believing that if you were disposed to also join this chariot of fire, we could do much more in a shorter time, and the showers of revival won’t be far. 🦅𝐒𝐈𝐗 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐀𝐆𝐋𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐘𝐎𝐔.

1. do not fly with sparrows, ravens, or other small birds. Instead, they fly by themselves at great altitudes.

MEANING: Avoid being around condescending, closed-minded individuals. Flying with eagles is an eagle. Stay in good company.

2. Eagles have an accurate vision and can focus on objects up to five kilometers away. No matter what, the eagle will not shift his attention away from the prey until he has captured it.

MEANING - You will succeed if you have a vision and stay motivated in the face of challenges.

3. Eagles only feed on live prey; they avoid eating dead things.

MEANING - Keep exploring uncharted territory; do not rely on your past achievements. Your past should remain in the past, where it belongs.

4. Eagles Love the Storm - When clouds start to form, an eagle becomes enthused and exploits the storm's wind to soar higher. The eagle uses the roaring storm's wind to push itself above the clouds once it locates it. As a result, the eagle may glide and rest its wings. While this is going on, all of the other birds are hiding in the tree's branches and leaves.

MEANING - Face your obstacles head-on, confident that they will help you become stronger and better than before. The trials of life can help us become stronger and reach new heights. Successful people have no problem reaching new heights. Successful people welcome and successfully use challenges rather than being afraid of them.

5. Eagles Prepare for Training - They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young ones get uncomfortable in preparation for flying and eventually fly/ when it becomes unbearable to stay in the nest.

MEANING - Leave your Comfort Zone, there is No Growth there.

6. When the Eagle Grows Old - His feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast and as high as they should. This makes him weak and could make him die. So he retires to a place far away in the mountains. While there, he plucks out the weak feathers on his body and breaks its beaks and claws against the rocks until he is completely bare; a very bloody and painful process. Then he stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, new beaks, and claws and then he comes out flying higher than before.

MEANING - We occasionally need to shed off old habits no matter how difficult, things that burden us or add no value to our lives should be let go of.

Tsaunin Mayau was attacked for the third time by Fulani terrorists on 27th March 2022. The terrorists came on 50 motor bikes. Each motor bike carried three armed men in an unprovoked and unwarranted attack against the 96% Christian community.

At the end of the mayhem, Tsaunin Maya suffered the following losses:
• 20 unarmed Christians were killed
• 9 houses were burnt
• ECWA Church was burnt
• 150 head of cattle rustled
• Goats and sheep were stolen
• Vehicles and motorcycles of the residents were burnt
• Food storage was destroyed

Some kind-hearted people responded immediately after the attack and provided foodstuff to the survivors. Unfortunately, the foodstuff was reportedly intercepted by some unscrupulous government officials, and it did not get to the affected people.

During the attack, no single security personnel came to the rescue of the people. The residents also reported that after the attack, no Government official appeared to empathize with them.

In August 2022, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation was able to go directly to the community and provided the following assistance to the affected brethren:

▪️N5,000 cash donation to 14 widows each.

A Christian woman was slain on Saturday, August 27, while cleaning up her church by alleged Fulani herdsmen.

Apparently, armed men ambushed and killed the woman, Lyop Dalyop, while she was cleaning the Church of Christ in Nations in Bangai village. The incident happened at 8:00 p.m., according to an attorney who oversees the Emancipation Center For Crisis Victims in Nigeria.

The majority-Muslim Fulani are the largest nomadic ethnic group in the world. Despite the fact that the majority of Fulani coexist peacefully with their neighbors, militant Fulanis who have been indoctrinated by extreme Islam have emerged from their people group with jihadist intentions. A Christian woman was slain on Saturday, August 27, while cleaning up her church by alleged Fulani herdsmen.

Last year, Nigeria earned the distinction of being the country with the world’s worst persecution in ICC’s Persecutor of the Year Awards. Radicalized and armed Islamist Fulani have killed tens of thousands of Christians and left more than three million homeless in a 20-year genocide against them.

“Christian communities in the Middle Belt of Nigeria have effectively suffered a twenty-year long genocide,” said ICC President Jeff King. “Where is the outcry? Where is effective action? In Nigeria, the military, the police, and the intelligence agencies are all controlled by Muslims. This, coupled with a twenty-year lack of response by these agencies, should naturally lead to deeper questioning by the international community. Simply put, the time for cheap talk and platitudes is over. The world is waking up and asking, “Is the Nigerian government complicit in these attacks.” Time will tell, but for this long-time watcher, the decision is in.

As follow up to the May 2022 empowerment project for Christian IDPs in five (5) IDP camps in Kaduna State, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation conducted the 2nd phase of the empowerment project in June 2022. Effective application of fertilizer in a farming season must be done at least twice for fruitful results.

The project was executed to reach 50 families in each camp. A total of 250 families were positively impacted by the empowerment project.

We thank all the generous donors who consistently provide funds to succour our persecuted brethren. We are all members of one family of God in Christ Jesus. God bless you all and replenish your purse. Above all, may He count it for you as righteousness on the day of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Lay Faithful Trust Foundation wishes to remind all Christians that we should cherish and care for our spiritual family, even as we care for our biological families. While our biological family is temporal, our spiritual family is eternal. Our Father in heaven is watching. If we cherish our earthly family, why would we neglect His family?

Every Christian that could afford to give minimum N500 a month should participate in the ministry to the persecuted Christians. It is a Christian obligation and a direct command from the Lord. Christian leaders should join in the mobilization of the members of the congregation.
