BISHOP ODEDEJI TOURS 17 CHURCHES IN ONE DAY AT IKOTUN ARCHDEACONRY EPISCOPAL VISIT

The Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, The Rt. Rev. Dr. James Olusola Odedeji, accompanied by his amiable wife Dr. Mrs. Lydia Olukemi Odedeji (Mama LagosWest) the Administrative Archdeacons, and the Dean of the Cathedral, The Ven. Emmanuel Ariire Kolawole, embarked on an Episcopal Tour of 17 churches across Ikotun Archdeaconry on Thursday, July 9, 2026

Hosted by the Archdeacon of Ikotun Archdeaconry The Ven. & Mrs. Taiwo Olupitan, the visit featured inspection of all the churches under the Archdeaconry, all parish records to ensure compliance with diocesan standards, preferment, foundation laying, dedication of a new vicarage, pastoral interactions, and prayers for clergy and parishioners.

The Bishop also addressed pressing needs in several churches, offering guidance and practical solutions where necessary.

The tour concluded at St. John's Anglican Church, Ikotun, where the Bishop pronounced the benediction, bringing a successful and impactful day of ministry to a close.

The Ven Arire Kolawole becomes 7th Dean Dean of AVMCC, IKEJA

The Venerable Emmanuel Ariire Kolawole has been formally installed as the 7th Dean of Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral (AVMCC), Ikeja. In a solemn service of inauguration, institution and induction held on Sunday, July 5. The service, presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, the Rt. Rev. James Olusola Odedeji, also witnessed is the institution of seven priests ( Revd Canon Tope Fashogbon, Innocent Okonkwo, Lekan Daramola, Samson Ogabi, Michael Fagbemi, Richard Oke and Ibikunle Opeyemi)
as Statutory Canons of the Cathedral.

The colourful ceremony drew a large gathering of bishops, clergy, former deans, diocesan officials, family members, friends and Anglican faithful from across the Diocese.

Preaching on the theme, "God Demands Total Obedience," Bishop Odedeji underscored the importance of unwavering obedience as the foundation of effective Christian leadership and ministry. He reminded the congregation that true obedience requires complete submission to God's will, even when His instructions appear difficult or contrary to human reasoning. According to the Bishop, obedience is the unmistakable evidence of a genuine relationship with God and the pathway to fruitfulness, divine favour and lasting impact in His kingdom.

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with the new Dean, Bishop Odedeji shared how Ven. Kolawole once contemplated resigning from full-time ministry during a challenging season but was strengthened through prayer, encouragement and divine direction. He commended the Dean's integrity, humility, perseverance and unwavering commitment to God's work, recalling his transformative leadership in previous ministerial assignments, which ultimately prepared him for his new responsibility.

The Bishop further charged the new Dean to remain focused on his divine calling, resist distractions and place greater value on faithful service and lasting impact.
