TOPIC: WHAT EVERY CHRISTIAN YOUTH SHOULD KNOW ABOUT LOVE & S*X?
TEXT: Lamentation 3:27
Youth is the time of life when a person is young, especially the time before a child becomes an adult. A group of young people coming together is also refered to as youth. The youthful periof is a critical period in the life of any man.
People who made it great today in any aspect of life are people whi did not waste their youth. The future belongs to the youth who is determined to stay focused because there are many distractions today calling for the attention of every youth. All that a youth needs to avoid mistakes is True Love .
What is Love? Love is broad. Love is the most loved word everyone wants to hear, say, and express. However love has been given wrong definitions many times. 1 Cor 13:4-7 Mtt 22:37 -40 Love is the embodiment of all the requirement of God from us all even as christian youth.
Love is giving yourself for others. Love is giving sacrificially, unconditionally and wholly. Love is pure. Love is best expressed in action
WRONG DEFINITIONS OF LOVE
1. Love is NOT that temporary strong feeling to take the opposite S*x to bed that is INFATUATION
2. Love is not having s*x at all cost that is LUST.
3. Love is not consenting to marry someone becaue of the gain derived from him or her without having anything to offer that is SELFISHNESS.
There are four types of love (1) Phileo Love (ii) Storage Love (iii) Eros Love (iv) Agape Love.
1. Phileo Love exist between friends based on attractive qualities one desire e.g teacher to an inteligent student.
2. Storage Love which means family love. It is an affection which exist between blood relation.
3. Eros love is that which exist between married couple which fire-up s*xual intimacy.
Eros Love is totally different from lust and Infatuation. It is the pure s*x as created by God to be enjoyed in marriage, Lust and infatuation is seeking s*x at all cost against God’s will. Eros love (an affection of a s*xual nature) is not a sin but it is designed by God to be displayed only in the confines of marriage.
4. Agape love is God kind of love. It is divine, unconditional, self sacrificing RMS 5:8. This type of love can lead to marriage. Agape love sustains marriage because it is the greatest and the embodiment of all love.
HOW BEST CAN I EXPRESS LOVE?
Love cannot go unnoticed even in the mist of multitude. If you love God it will show in your attitude towards him. The best way you can express love to someone is measured in your sacrifice to please such person. Jn 15:13. The boy or man that claims to love you, can he lay down his life for you? There is a link between love and attraction. When you meet people that have same trait with you there is tendency for you to love such people. It is also needful to note that both positive and negative character trait attract people together. Many things can cause attraction like diligence, godly character, financial Management skill, prowess, wisdom, beauty, oratory skill, level of education and exposure, business acumen, way of dressing talent, complexion. Don’t get confused. When you are attracted to people through any of these don’t take it as love bacause it may not endure. Always remember that beauty can fade and complexion may change but godly character endures.
HOW DO I DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN LOVE & LUST
1. Love is different from Lust (1) Love appreciates and it is self sacrificing, always desiring to give, but lust is not.
2. Lust is greedy and always demanding for instant s*x.
3. Love edifies but lust intoxicates.
4. Love will wait for s*x until marriage but lust want s*x at all cost now.
5. Love is constructive while lust is destructive keep away from s*x because it has truncated many great destines. The Bibles frowns at premarital s*x (S*x before marriage).
Heb 13:4. There is a reward for the virgins. Fears about what will happen in the future often disturb the mind of the youth. There is also misconceptions shared among peer groups.
As christian youths, don’t be shy or feel inferior or timid, meet with your leaders, ask questions open up to your parents and avoid youthful mistakes.
If you are not yet born-again, you need to give your life to Christ. Allow him to direct the affairs of your life and you have nothing to fear. Ps 37.5. Be rest assured Jesus is with you.
