Today’s Message:
We are looking at ‘The tragedy of unthankfulness’. Psalm 103:2, Psalm 116:12, Luke 17:11-19. Only this stranger was made whole, the others were just healed, a big difference.
Romans 1:21

Beloved, listen to this very powerful statement before we start to pray now: Unthankfulness or ingratitude is one of the signs of the last days; we red it in 2 Timothy 3.
Those who show appreciation do not suffer from depreciation. The company of the unthankful, the company of the ingrates is also the company of the inglorious.
Unthankfulness is an insult to our Savior. Unthankfulness is a huge spiritual disease and many believers are sick because of this.
Unthankfulness manifest in our attitudes and our actions as humans. A lot of children are very unthankful and they show a lot ingratitude. Parents too fail to show gratitude for their children and the good things they accomplished and they compare them with other people.
Many couples too do not appreciate each other, the wife does not appreciate the husband and the husband too does not appreciate the wife and for simple basic things; they quarrel and fight.
Employers and employees do not sometimes show gratitude. Christians unfortunately, and humans in general; do not appreciate God’s provision of grace, goodness and love.
The spirit of gratitude is the spirit of God but the spirit of ingratitude is the spirit of ungratefulness and unthankfulness. Unthankfulness actually characterizes the wicked. That’s why somebody has called gratitude ‘the queen of virtues’.
If you fail in this area of being thankful, then you’re likely to fail in other virtues as well.
Somebody has said ‘all sin is simply ingratitude’; a deep statement.
The first step of civilization of an individual towards things that happened in his life negatively is ingratitude.
Those who show God and men gratitude are never allowed to be grounded.
Unthankfulness beloved, is taking God for granted but your gratitude commits God.
One with God is majority and majority without God is minority!
Listen beloved, all these murmuring and complaining brings destruction, it brings reduction, it brings recession, I brings opposition and it brings obstruction.
Unthankfulness is always seeing the glass empty instead seeing it half full, at least there’s something in that glass.
But gratitude will always change your altitude as a believer. Gratitude or thanksgiving is a lifter, it will lift you up.
Beloved, the truth is this: you cannot gratitude and thankfulness to God and remain stagnant. God moves you forward because thankfulness opens doors for more; look at Acts 16:26.
- Gratitude brings abundance and overflowing.
- Gratitude turns scarcity to surplus.
- Gracious brings the power of God down. It brings His power down because you’re showing appreciation to God.
I pray that this spirit of gratitude will come upon us in the name of Jesus!
That song writer says ‘count your blessings, name then one by one’.
Exodus 3:13
Ingratitude is a greater sin than revenge. Revenge is repayment of evil with evil. Unthankfulness is repayment of good with evil. Unthankfulness is lack of appreciation of a favor shown.
The story of a child given an orange, shared by Daddy G.O:
I red a story, somebody gave orange to a child and the mother looked at the child and said ‘and what do you say to this nice man who gave you orange’? The child responded and said ‘let him peel it’ instead of saying ‘thank you’. This is example of ingratitude!
God is angry with ingratitude everyday. So like the song we listened to, you must count your blessings one by one and consider the source of that blessing.
- Unthankfulness is a tool of recruitment into satan’s company, but gratitude spreads a healing balm. Gratitude has this mysterious spreading power. Look at lucifer and his angels, they were not happy and they were not grateful; look at what has happened to them now.
- Unthankfulness is to receive God’s blessing, yet you never worship Him, yet you’re never thankful to Him.
- Unthankfulness is giving credit due to God, to others.
- Unthankfulness is taking God’s blessing for granted. The hair you breath, for granted. You sleep and wake up, for granted. You go to the toilet and urinate, for granted. You have children, for granted.
- Unthankfulness is to embrace the gift and forget the giver.
- Unthankfulness makes people to be very very proud.
I red about Matthew Henry who was robbed. And somebody said what do you think about being robbed? He said ‘I thank God I’m not the one that rob people, they were the ones that robbed me’.
But the most terrible thing about unthankfulness is in Proverbs 17. Ingratitude may be the reason why things are difficult for so many people now. There are so many rebellious pastors who have broken the law of gratitude. They forgot how then they started, they forget then who brought them up. They are now working against those who brought them up when they were nothing when they started.
Wherever you’re today beloved, somebody helped you. So an ungrateful disposition by contrast is hard and crime, not easily moved by kindness, unwilling to be kind in return; that’s unthankful disposition.
Those lepers, perhaps one of them waited to see if the healing will last; that’s why he didn’t come back to Jesus! May be one of them said ‘well, I’ll see Jesus later’; so he didn’t come back to Jesus! May be one of them said ‘well, I would have gotten well anyway’; so he didn’t come back to Jesus! May be another one gave glory to the priest, so he didn’t come back to Jesus! But one cried to Rabi and said, ‘thank you because you have done it.
There are different categories of unthankful people, those who don’t show gratitude:
1. There are those you call the sink. Whatever you give to them, once it has expired; it has expired. If they ask the second time, and you do it the second time; that first one had expired. They can even fight you and pull you down because you refuse to do more and they have forgot the one you have done. There are some, you keep doing and doing, and you keep sinking; you call the sink.
2. There is a divine ingrates. Everything God has done for them, they have no reason to than God. They are still saying God has not done enough, I don’t know why I’m like this, I don’t know why should I go to church. They get God angry everyday because they are divine ingrate. That song writer said ‘count your blessing and name them one by one, you will be surprise what the Lord has done’. You may not have everything you need but you’re still here breathing.
3. There is a parasitic permanent demanders. These ones will always demand and demand and be parasitic on others and once a person refuses to comply; there is problem.
4. There is the one you call ‘the bank’. They will not remember past good deeds. That one is locked up in their bank, finished. And so, If you don’t do anything new, the one you’ve done is locked up and that’s the end of it.
5. There are biters or feeders, they are biting the fingers that fed them. Somebody has said it is insanity to throw stones into the well in which you drank water before. You may have to return to that water where you are throwing stones, they bite their feeders.
6. There are the evil returners. They always return evil for good people have done to them.
7. There are the strategic forgetters. They decide the good things that have happened to their life.
8. There is the hide and seek ingrates. They hide, they seek, and they pretend as if they’re not the ones that got something just to come back again.
9. There is a generational offenders. Like the Pharoah that knoweth not Joseph. The Pharoah that didn’t remember all that Joseph did to keep that nation in place before he became a king. There are many people like that, they get into a situation, they don’t care about the person who built the top for them to get here, which is very sad.
10. There is the sugar ingrates. They’re very friendly only when things are getting smooth, but when things turn rough; they are very very unfriendly and we calm them sugar.
11. The envious ones. So envious of another person and so whatever the person does, because of envy, they don’t show appreciation. They carry out an ‘ai don’t care attitude’.
12. There is the covetous ones. These ones, nothing is ever enough for them. They complain, they murmur and nothing is ever enough for them.
13. The grumbling group. They are complainers, the murmurers majorly to attract the sympathy of people but what they don’t know is that those things attract judgement from God.
And I’m praying for anyone who have been captured by these spirits, that may the Lord set you free in the name of Jesus!
If you’re not thankful for what the Lord has done for you already, you’re binding the hands of God from doing more things for you. Count your blessings, the song writer said and you’ll be surprised what the Lord has done.
Murmuring will keep you at the same spot, if it does not destroy you.
14. They are those who are proud. They always believe that their successes is because of what they can do better than others; that it’s because of their own input. They forget totally that they’re existing over a platform that has already been laid down for them.
The spirit of pride is a terrible thing. The spirit of pride also lead to plenty of ingratitude. This is a very serious matter. These kind of proud ingrates, they forget that they are what they are by the grace of God and this is a terrible disease that is affecting the body of Christ.
I pray that every arrow of unthankfulness in our spirit will go back to the senders in the name of Jesus!
I pray that those who don’t show gratitude, who are not happy with what is going on around them, I pray that the Lord will deliver you speedily in the name of Jesus!
But there is danger, serious danger in ingratitude:
1. It will shut off your destiny helpers.
2. It will short circuit your progress.
3. It will invite divine curses or curses for man.
4. It magnetizes evil. May evil not be magnetized to you in the name of Jesus!
5. Ingratitude mobilizes evil angels against you. Evil angels will begin to fight you if you’re ungrateful.
6. Ingratitude shuts down the doors of mercy. It closes the door of mercy against you.
7. If you’re unthankful according to what we red in 2 Timothy 3:1, you’ll miss rapture, you will miss heaven.
8. Your children will suffer from lack of helpers.
9. You will be paid back in your own coins. So what ever you’re doing, do it very well. If you’re an apprentice, serve your boss very well. Because one day, it may be a voice that will wait for you either to destroy or elevate you.
10. Ingratitude will produce vain imagination and foolish heart.
11. Ingratitude will weaken your spiritual, mental and moral life.
12. Ingratitude can cut off your physical health and you begin to suffer health challenges simply because you’re unthankful.
13. It’s another secret route of infirmity. It allows infirmity to wage war into people’s lives.
I pray that every infirmity that ingratitude has brought, will be removed from every n the name of Jesus!
13. It will wage war against permanent and eternal spiritual things for you.
14. Ingratitude beloved, will hand you over to the enemy.
I pray that the spirit of ingratitude, the spirit of unthankfulness will depart from our lives in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Bottomline:
Look at what it says in Deuteronomy 28:47-48, this is a scripture I want you to take to heart very well.
Whatever you’re passing through, know that God is still there and his power is there to help you.
May the Lord help us to understand this deep secret in the name of Jesus!
Are you on this line now and you’re not thankful to God, you’re not grateful to what God has done in your life? Are you that kind of person?
Repent, change; and see what the Lord will turn your life to.
1. Surrender your life to Jesus now.
2. Know that God is good.
3. Know that the devil is very wicked and he has no free gift to anybody.
4. Develop an attitude of gratitude to God. Develop an attitude of gratitude to your fellow men because if you don’t have that kind of heart of gratitude, the unthankfulness will turn your glory to shame and it will make you a shadow of what you should be.
Prayer Rain:
Beloved, there are some prayers I want you to pray. Pray like a man or a woman from another world. Pray with the spirit of enough is enough, let the anointing of God upon this program work for you; glory be to the name of Jesus! Can you shout this loud and clear:
1. Powers assigned to destroy my celebration, die in the name of Jesus!
2. Oh God arise and make my life a mysterious wonder in the name of Jesus!
3. Every power dragging battles into my life, die in the name of Jesus!
4. I shall not go to my enemies to beg for food in the name of Jesus!
5. Wasting arrows fired against me, go back to your senders in the name of Jesus!
6. My destiny, hear the word of the Lord: reject every demotion in the name of Jesus!
7. Every dark power saying ‘if I climb, I will be pull down’; die in the name of Jesus!
Pray this with boiling anger:
8. I shall not be used as meat on the dinning table of darkness in the name of Jesus!
9. Powers assigned to make me poor, I bury you now in the name of Jesus!
10. Powers assigned to make my eagle to fall down, die in the name of Jesus!
11. Oh God arise and set my enemies against each other in the name of Jesus!
