Life is a test, and every test reveals something about us.

Allah asks:

﴿أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا﴾
“Which of you is best in deeds?”
— Qur’an 67:2

Allah also says:

﴿وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ﴾
“And We will certainly test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth, lives, and fruits. But give good news to those who patiently persevere.”
— Qur’an 2:155

And Allah reminds us:

﴿أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ﴾
“Do people think they will be left to say, ‘We believe,’ and they will not be tested?”
— Qur’an 29:2

Trials are part of the journey of faith. What matters is how we respond when the test comes.

When life becomes difficult, remain patient. When you are hurt, keep doing good. When you face hardship, hold firmly to Allah.

May Allah make us among those who have the best deeds, remain patient through every test, and stay firm in faith until the end. Ameen. 🤲🏽

Think Before You Speak.

Allah reminds us that we will be questioned about what we say, hear, see, and believe.

Do not speak about what you have no knowledge of. Before you make a statement, share an opinion, or pass judgment, seek knowledge and be certain of what you say.

Sometimes, silence is wiser than speaking without knowledge.
If you don’t know, say: “I don’t know.”

Every word matters. Every claim carries a responsibility. And one day, we will be asked about it.

Keep Doing Good, Even When It Hurts. 🤍

Do not stop doing good simply because you were hurt, misunderstood, or unappreciated. Your reward is not dependent on people’s applause—it is with Allah.

When people disappoint you, remain patient. When their words hurt you, keep your heart firm. Continue doing what is right, because Allah sees every effort and knows every struggle.

Allah says:

﴿وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ ۝ فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ السَّاجِدِينَ﴾
“And We certainly know that your heart feels distressed by what they say. So glorify the praises of your Lord and be among those who prostrate.”
(Qur’an 15:97–98)

And Allah says:

﴿وَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ﴾
“And be patient over what they say.”
(Qur’an 20:130)

Keep doing good. Keep being kind. Keep serving Allah. Your sincerity matters more than their appreciation.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE KIND, GOOD AND PIOUS?

Kindness is more than words. Goodness is more than appearance. And piety is more than simply being known as a religious person.

The Qur’an teaches us that true righteousness is found in faith, sincere worship, generosity, patience, keeping our promises, helping those in need, and remaining steadfast through difficulties.
📖 Qur’an 2:177

Allah also reminds us that we cannot attain true righteousness until we give from what we love.
📖 Qur’an 3:92

So, who are the good people?
They are those whose faith is reflected in their character, whose kindness reaches others, whose hands give, whose hearts forgive, and whose actions are pleasing to Allah.

How do we attain goodness?
By sincerely believing in Allah, doing good even when nobody is watching, giving from what we love, helping others, being patient during trials, and constantly correcting ourselves.

And how do we become pious?
By making Taqwa a way of life—being conscious of Allah in our private and public lives, choosing what is right over what is easy, and striving every day to become better servants of our Creator.

🤲🏽 A prayer for everyone watching:
May goodness and mercy follow you throughout your life. May Allah guide your heart, increase you in righteousness, bless your family, accept your good deeds, and make you among those who attain true piety.

As expressed in Psalm 23:6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”

May goodness follow us, may mercy surround us, and may Allah make us people of faith, kindness and Taqwa. Ameen. 🤲🏽

Don’t wait until you lose it before you realize its worth.

The Qur’an teaches us through the command given to Yahya عليه السلام:

خُذِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ بِقُوَّةٖ
“Hold firmly to the Scripture.”

There is a beautiful lesson here about commitment, seriousness and determination.

Whatever Allah has blessed you with that brings goodness into your life, don’t handle it casually.

Your mother—value her.
Your father—honour him.
Your wife or husband—cherish them.
Your children—raise and protect them.
Your business—work for it.
Your knowledge—practice it.
Your good relationships—maintain them.

Not everything valuable will remain forever.

So while you still have it, hold it firmly, take it seriously and show gratitude for it.

Because sometimes the blessing we take for granted today becomes the thing we desperately wish we could have back tomorrow. 🤍

Sometimes, we forget how powerful our words can be.

Allah says:

وَقُولُواْ لِلنَّاسِ حُسۡنٗا
“And speak to people good words.” — Qur’an 2:83

A simple word can make someone smile, give someone hope, or even change the way they see themselves. But a harsh word can also hurt deeply, sometimes in ways we may never realize.

Not everyone you meet is having a good day. Some people are fighting battles silently. So, whenever you have the chance to speak, let your words bring peace rather than pain. Correct people with wisdom, advise with kindness, and learn to remain silent when your words will only cause harm.

Islam is not only about how we worship Allah; it is also about how we treat people.

Speak kindly. Be gentle. Be mindful of your words. You never know whose heart your words may touch. ❤️

May Allah make us people whose words bring goodness wherever we go. Ameen. 🤲🏽

Protecting Yourself with Wisdom

Not every plan should be announced. Not every thought should be spoken. Not every person should know your private affairs.

Islam teaches us to protect our lives through wisdom, discretion, and trust in Allah. A believer understands that words carry consequences, so they speak only when it is necessary, to the right people, and for a beneficial purpose. Silence, when guided by wisdom, is often better than speech that brings harm, regret, envy, or unnecessary conflict.

This lecture explores the Islamic principles of guarding your tongue, protecting yourself from enemies and those with ill intentions, exercising wisdom in dealing with people, and placing complete reliance upon Allah while taking the appropriate means to safeguard your life and affairs.

May Allah grant us wisdom in our speech, protect us from every form of harm, and make our words a source of guidance, peace, and goodness. Āmīn.

لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِي كَبَدٍ

We have certainly created man into hardship.
(Surah Al-Balad 90:4)

This verse reminds us that trials, effort, and difficulties are part of human life. Islam teaches that hardship is not a sign of Allah’s displeasure; rather, it is a means of testing, purification, and spiritual growth.

Arabic proverb

الصبر مفتاح الفرج
“Patience is the key to relief.”

بعد العسر يُسر
“After hardship comes ease.” (A well-known Arabic saying inspired by the Qur’an in Surah Ash-Sharḥ 94:5–6.)

English proverb
“No pain, no gain.”

The Prophet ﷺ said:
No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim—even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn—but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it.

Short lecture takeaway
Allah tells us that hardship is part of the human condition. Every person will face challenges, but the believer views them with patience (ṣabr), trust in Allah (tawakkul), and gratitude. Difficulties are not meaningless—they elevate ranks, erase sins, and bring a servant closer to Allah. Therefore, rather than asking why hardship exists, we should ask how we can respond to it in a way that pleases Allah.

Key message: Hardship is inevitable, but with faith and patience, every hardship becomes an opportunity for reward and closeness to Allah.

Prayer: May Allah ease all our affairs, grant us patience, strength and wisdom to overcome our life challenges. Aameen

Alhamdulillah for every blessing—seen and unseen. 🤲

Every favor we enjoy is from Allah, and true gratitude is shown not only with our words but also through our actions and obedience.

As believers, we are called to thank and praise Allah in every situation, enjoin what is good, and forbid what is evil with wisdom, sincerity, and compassion. By doing so, we strengthen our faith, uplift our communities, and seek the pleasure of our Creator.

May Allah make us among those who are always grateful, steadfast upon the truth, and a source of guidance for others. Āmīn.

“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor].” (Qur’an 14:7)
