SERMON TOPIC : - DIVINE PEACE.
BIBLE TEXT:- JOHN 14 :
Glory be to God in the highest!!! We appreciate God almighty, the keeper of our Israel, sustainer of our souls and the help of the helpless for bringing us this far,at his name be praised for ever.
Divine peace is an unshakable inner tranquility that transcends human understanding and external circumstances. Rooted in an intimate relationship with God, this peace serves as a spiritual anchor, guarding your heart against anxiety and fear during life's inevitable storms. Jesus came into the world to liberate us from death and sin, and to bring us peace with God—the peace that surpasses understanding, calming our fears even in times of trouble. As Jesus told His disciples, "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). The peace that Jesus brings is divine peace, the peace of God, the only peace worthy of the name. Divine peace is the only permanent peace, is that kind of peace you feel inside even when the world is falling apart all around you. Divine peace is peace of mind, peace in your conscience, peace with your Christian brothers and sisters, peace with your boss and coworkers, peace with your environment, peace with your world. This is the peace the angels announced. It’s the peace Jesus exemplified. When you have divine peace, you can have peace while the wars are raging around you, peace while the earth is crumbling beneath your feet, peace in the midst of the storm.
Let us consider the sermon under three subheadings. John 16:33
1. THE PROMISES OF PEACE — PEACE RELEASED
John 14:27; Isaiah 26:3; Numbers 6:24-26; Psalm 85 :8; Isaiah 54:10;
"When God promises peace, fear is defeated and divine rest is released."
God is not merely a giver of things; He is the Giver of peace. His peace is not dependent on favorable circumstances but on His faithful Word. Jesus assured His disciples that despite tribulations in the world, they could have peace in Him. God's promise of peace is: Certain, because God cannot lie. Constant, because God does not change. Comprehensive, because it affects spirit, soul, and body. A child sleeps peacefully during a storm because he trusts the father watching over him. Likewise, believers rest because God's promise stands.
2. THE PRIORITY OF PEACE — PEACE INCREASED
Hebrews 12:14; Romans 12:18;Matthew 5:9Romans 12:18: "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."Hebrews 12:14: "Ephesians 4:2-3: ."Matthew 5:9: Philippians 4:6-7.Colossians 3:15:
When peace is prioritized, relationships are harmonized and God's blessings are multiplied."Peace is not merely a gift to enjoy; it is a virtue to pursue. The believer must make peace a priority in the home, church, and society.
Peace must be prioritized: Above pride. Above revenge. Above unnecessary arguments. Where peace reigns, progress follows. Many blessings are delayed because peace has been neglected.
Application Questions: Am I a peacemaker or a troublemaker? Do my words promote peace or conflict? Is there anyone with whom I need reconciliation?
3. THE PRAYER FOR PEACE — PEACE ESTABLISHED
Philippians 4:6-7;Psalm 122:6; 1 Timothy 2:1-2. Peace is preserved through prayer. What God promises and what we prioritize must be backed by prayer.
Areas to Pray for Peace: 👉Personal peace. 👉Family peace. 👉Church peace. 👉Community peace. 👉National peace. Prayer invites God's government into human affairs. When God's presence comes, peace follows.
Divine PeaceWhen we look at the peace the world offers, it is largely circumstantial. Worldly peace depends on having no problems, a stable economy, or comfortable relationships. The moment these shift, the peace disappears. But divine peace is entirely different. Jesus clearly distinguished the two when He said:"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." — John 14:27
Prayer Points. 🔥Father, let every promise of peace concerning my life be fulfilled in Jesus' name. 🔥Lord, help me to pursue and preserve peace in all my relationships.🔥Every storm threatening my peace, be still in the name of Jesus. 🔥Let divine peace reign in my family, church, and community.🔥Father, establish peace and righteousness throughout Nigeria in Jesus' name. "Because God has promised me peace, I shall walk in peace; because I prioritize peace, I shall enjoy peace; because I pray for peace, peace shall be established around me, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen."
Thanks for your time and God bless you. Remember, Jesus' is coming soon and you must live in preparation for him. Till we meet again, I remain your humble servant of Christ A
