*MESSAGE:*
The meaning of the name Emmanuel is not real to many so-called children of God because they are not abiding in Christ. Therefore, they are caught in many horrible things in the course of their daily activities. This scripture reveals our part in the covenant of God being our Present Help in times of need *Psalms 46:1.* We must remember that the Almighty God is forever faithful. Though the world may deny Him, He cannot deny Himself. Though the whole world may be unfaithful, He remains faithful to His word in the lives of His children. What is our part in this bargain? We must abide in Him, living holy because He is holy. We should never take a break from living holy. It is important for all children of God who want to enjoy the presence of Emmanuel to abide in Him so that He would in turn abide in them. How can we abide in God? *Ecclesiastes 12:13* says:

*_“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”_*

We must fear God and keep His commandments. Many people today are taking the grace of God for granted, teaching that we can live in sin and grace would still abound *Romans 6:1.* Mischievously they argue that we are in the dispensation of grace and thus can do whatever we like. They seem to be saying Let us commit sin the more, so that we may make maximum use of Gods abundant grace! They claim to believe in God yet do not see Him as the Consuming Fire *Hebrews 12:29* Constantly being in the presence of God attracts multiple blessings. One of these is the opportunity to pray and receive instant answers to our prayers. Jesus said:

*_“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; So shall ye be my disciples.”_*

What if we fail to abide in Christ? God forbid, because it carries terrible consequences. Jesus Christ our Lord said in *John 15:6*

“If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; And men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.”

Abiding in Christ is the ticket to peace and prosperity on earth, as well as eternity with God. Therefore, let us abide in Him because He is willing to grant us everlasting life.

*LESSON INTRODUCTION:*
A family is a set or group of people that is related to one another by blood. A Christian Family can be defined as group of people consisting of Father, Mother, Children and any other person related by blood.
And they must believe in the teaching and practice of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.
Being a model entails being able to offer or display exemplary good qualities/virtues of Jesus Christ for other Families to emulate.

1. *QUALITIES OF A CHRISTIAN FAMILY*
*Please note that these include but not limited to the underlisted:*
1. They eschew violence and other forms of evil 1 Peter 3:11
2. They fear God. Psalms 25:11
3. They are prayerful Luke 18:1, Ephesians 6:18-19
4. They live holy and righteous life. Psalms 45:7, Leviticus 20:7, 1 Peter 1:14-25.
5. They live in complete obedience to the Word of God. Leviticus 20:8
6. Within their Closet and outside, they are always an embodiment of Jesus Christ personified, that is, not hypocrites. Mark 7:6, Job 15:34a
7. The husband loves his wife and the children just like Jesus loves The Church and gave His life. Ephesians 5:25, Ephesians 6:4, Genesis 18:19, 1 Peter 3:7
8. The wife shows exemplary lifestyle by submitting to her husband just like Sarah, when she used to call her husband Abraham as "Lord". 1 Peter 3:5-7
9. The Parent must be ready to chastise the children in love. Ephesians 6:4
10. They also correct the children physically and spiritually when necessary. Proverbs 23:13-15.
11. The children, through the help of the Holy Spirit, display exemplary character of obeying their parents in totality. Colossians 3:20, Hebrews 12:11
12. Peace reigns in such home. John 14:27

2. *HOW TO BECOME MODEL OF A CHRISTIAN FAMILY*
1. By imbibing all the Christian virtues, as exemplified in Jesus Christ
2. By having a family alter for the prayer
3. The Father must be able to provide the lead in being the chief Priest
4. By exhibiting all the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23
5. Must all be genuinely born again. John 3:3-6, 1 Peter 1:23
6. Must all put off the old man. Ephesians 4:22-25
7. Must not grieve the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:30
8. Must be in one mind. 1 Peter 3:8-10
9. All the members must live holy. 1 Peter 1:15-16
10. They must make the Bible their only constitution. Joshua 1:8

*SUMMARY:*
A Christian family must be a good example to other families of the world

*CONCLUSION:*
Acts 21: 8-10. Philip, the Evangelist had a Christian home with a very supportive wife and they both raised godly children; four daughters, all virgins and they were all prophetesses. What a family? What a role model of a Christian family!
A Christian role model Family must be heavenly focused. May the Almighty God make our families Christian role models too in Jesus Name. Amen.

*Romans 10:17*

I cannot overstate the importance of the word of God in the life of a believer. *Romans 10:14-17* emphasizes this and also reveals the need of preachers in the world today. We need witnesses so faith of people can be built on the sure foundation of the world of God.

Today, while some preachers minister as oracle of God; others do so as orators – teaching human philosophy and traditions of men. Paul warned against this in *1Timothy 1:4-7 and Titus 1:14.* Today’s memory verse tells us clearly why we must be careful of any teaching that does not warn against sin. Such is not from God.

Living by this foundation keeps you from sin. Today’s Bible reading has many lessons from us.

>> First, it is wisdom to walk according to the word of God. Some people will say the Bible is too old to offer solutions to the present world issues but what did Jesus say concerning the word of God? He said *_“For verily, I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled”_* *(Matthew 5:18).*

>> There will be trials and persecutions against your faith. However, God’s word is a sure anchor. Jesus assures that a house built on the sure foundation of the word of God shall stand.

>> It is foolishness to equate the word of man with the word of God. The word of man has no sure foundation; therefore, any house built on human philosophy will crumble in the face of a storm.

Beloved, are you building your house of faith on the solid and infallible word of God or on the sandy soil of the ideology of man? Think about it now and take a decision to walk only by God’s word.

*MESSAGE:-*
It is quite sad that many people honour their Fathers but have little or no respect for their mothers.

People tend to disrespect their mothers because they are soft and readily accessible, whereas the fathers are tough and usually unavailable. It is however foolish not to honour your mother. *Ephesians 6:2* does not only say you should honour your father so you can live long, it asks you to honour your mother too. If you only honour your father and not your mother, then you are toying with untimely death. Mothers labour greatly over their children, so can you imagine how they feel when you esteem them lightly?

According to our memory verse for today, the Bible puts the man who says that there is no God in the same category as the man who despises his mother – they are both fools. This is how grievous it is to despise your mother. If your mother is happy with you, you are already in for a great life. Moses’ mother arrange for him to be raised in the Palace and it was there that he go on the path to greatness. Many people have missed their greatness because they despised their mothers and her advice.

*_“My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:”_* *Proverbs 6:20*

Your mother has a very important role to play in your journey to greatness; you must never despise her! I am where I am today because of the prayers of my mother. Whenever I did something to please her, I recall she would say whenever I call on one, many would respond to me. Those prayers have manifested in my life today.

As powerful as Jesus was, He never despised His mother. He performed a miracle at His mother’s request, even though His time of manifestation was not yet fully come *(John 2:3-12),* simply because He could not disobey her. Can your mother say the same about you?

*ACTION POINT:*
*_If you have been despising your mother, change your attitude to her henceforth. Today, do something to show her that you love and honour her._*_*

*MESSAGE:-*
While God operates in the invisible realm of the spirit, man operates in the realm of the physical world. Faith is therefore required for man to interact with God *(Hebrews 11:6).*

Without faith, it is absolutely impossible to acknowledge the existence of God or connect with Him in anyway. In *Romans 10:17* , the Holy Spirit declares the faith comes by hearing the word of God. In other words, faith can only come through God’s word. God essentially designed His word to be the perfect tool that enables us to connect with Him through the stirring up of faith in our spirit man.

*_“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works._*

Daily interaction with the word of God develops the kind of faith that is focused on salvation and eternity, and it produces character that is thoroughly equipped to yield the fruits of righteousness to the glory of God. Consequently, the word of God should be desired more than our daily food *(Job 23:12)* . Jesus said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God (Luke 4:4). He also commanded His disciples to go and teach all nations of the world to do the things in His word, so that everyone can be saved and spend eternity in heaven. In this wise, we must not only listen to God’s word but also put it into practice.

Knowing the importance and power behind God’s word, Satan has set out a grand scheme to counterfeit and adulterate it through so called “higher knowledge”. Children of God should therefore be careful of new revelations and information from extra-biblical sources. Stop listening to false prophets and ungodly suggestions from people of questionable character who have no solid spiritual background *(Deuteronomy 13:1-3).* Our Lord said we would easily recognise such people by their fruit *(Matthew 7:20).* After identifying them, I admonish you to discountenance their claims, avoid getting carried away by what they say, and ignore their “prophetic” and “miraculous” propaganda *(1John 4:1).* Completely reject anyone who brings any philosophy or teaching that is not found in the Bible *(2John 1:10).* Remember they will not stand for you before God on the day of judgement.

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

*MESSAGE:-*
From the onset of the early Church, different people have sought to describe the crucified life. My own understanding of the crucified life is one that is wholly given over to God in absolute humility and obedience. It is a life of sacrifice that is pleasing to the Lord, and has its roots in Christ’s atoning work on the cross of Calvary, focusing on the death of the flesh to worldliness and sin. Living a crucified life implies being dead to sin and being alive to God in holiness and righteousness. Children of God living this way are transformed. Children of God living this way are transformed in character into the image of God that they possess within them through Christ.

*_“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”_ Romans 6:6*

*_“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lust.”_ Galatians 5:24*

The two passages confirm that the subjection of our flesh to the power of the cross of Jesus Christ is not negotiable for us as Christians. To be born again means to put our old way of life in the flesh to death on the cross, and to thereafter receive a new kind of life which is yielded to God in righteousness, made available through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. After you became born again, you need to enforce the power of the crucified life that you possess inside of you continually by not yielding your natural body as an instrument to sin. The crucified life destroys the power of sin over God’s children. Galatians 5:24 says clearly that those who belong to Jesus Christ by being born again have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts. You need to believe this and walk in its reality.

Moreover, the crucified life is absolutely committed to following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. It wants to love like Him and be more like Him in thought, speech and action. The whole essence of spiritual perfection has everything to do with mirroring the image of Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith. We attain this level of grace by daily walking in the Holy Spirit, who lives inside us. He continually ministers the mind of Christ to us on what to do at every point in time. When you consistently follow His guidance, the life of the resurrected Christ will show forth in you and sin will no longer be an issue in your life.

*_Father, I receive the grace to walk in the reality of Your truth that my flesh has been crucified; help me to daily walk in the life of the resurrected Christ in Jesus’ Name._*
