Sunday Meeting, 8th March, 2026
Topic: Christian concept of dominion and how to exercise it.
Dominion is the core Christian assignment (Gen 1:26β27): It means taking authority over all circumstances, including sickness, poverty, and spiritual opposition.
Dominion requires strong faith (Rom 4:19β20): This means actively rejecting fear-inducing news and instead hearing the Word of God (Rom 10:17) to build conviction.
Dominion is exercised by absolute dependence on God (Eph 6:10): The power comes from God's strength, not personal ability or even the prayers themselves.
The true battle is spiritual (Eph 6:12): Believers must fight against principalities and powers, not people, to take charge of their environment.
Key Point
1. The Mandate for Dominion
The core Christian assignment is to have dominion over all things, as outlined in Genesis 1:26β27.
This mandate applies to all circumstances, including:
- Sickness
- Poverty
- Spiritual opposition
Jesus' ministry provides the model for exercising dominion:
- Sickness: Instantly healed Peter's mother-in-law (Mark 1:30β31).
- Nature: Calmed a storm by speaking to it (Mark 4:39).
- Death: Raised Lazarus after four days (John 11).
- Poverty: Instructed Peter to find tax money in a fish's mouth (Matt 17:27).
2. The Foundation: Strong Faith
Dominion requires strong, unwavering faith, not weak faith.
Abraham's example (Rom 4:19β20):
At 100 years old, he did not consider his "dead" body or Sarah's "dead" womb.
He remained strong in faith for 25 years, exercising dominion over barrenness.
Building strong faith (Rom 10:17):
Faith comes from hearing the message of Christ.
This is a choice to hear the Word of God over fear-inducing news (e.g., banditry, joblessness).
"A man without faith cannot take dominion. A man with fear cannot take dominion."
3. The Method: Absolute Dependence on God
Dominion is exercised by being "strong in the Lord and in the power of his might" (Eph 6:10).
This requires absolute dependence on God, not on personal ability or even the prayers themselves.
Elijah's example: He called for fire without doubt, knowing the power was from God, not his own words.
Analogy: A person who delays travel due to feeling they "haven't prayed enough" is trusting in their prayer quantity, not in God's protection.
4. The Application: Fighting the Spiritual Battle
The true battle is spiritual, not against people (Eph 6:12).
Believers must be sensitive to their spiritual environment to take charge.
Practical examples of taking dominion:
Finances: Prophesying abundance over an empty bank account.
Health: Announcing delivery for a pregnant woman experiencing delay.
Joblessness: Demanding open opportunities.
Environment: Decreeing consistent power supply (NEPA) in a new location.
Identify a specific area (finances, health, academics, etc.) to actively take dominion over this week.
