HOLD UNTO THE LORD
By Dr. Fred Kerbem
April 3, 2020

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in December 2019, people all over the world have been exposed to all sorts of horrifying tales about the pandemic. Scores of unfiltered information have left many panicking. The global community is fast becoming overwhelmed with fear and anxiety over the spread of the disease. Many are already losing their socio-economic balance in the face of this ominous challenge. Even the righteous are beginning to lose their boldness and audacity. The spirit of fear is gradually creeping into people's hearts and causing it to fail.

As I ponder on the challenges of this time, the Lord graciously drew my attention to Psalms 73:26. It says: "My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." The first part of this scripture aptly describes the situation of many people today. Please understand that the condition of the your heart determines the condition of your body. When your heart fails for whatever reason your body will equally fail. So guard your heart with all diligence. Prolonged exposure to negative information will adversely affect your life.

Too much of what has been said about corona virus is very toxic and unprofitable. The superfluity of misleading information has overthrown the faith of many. But we can change this narrative with our word of faith. "God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." This can become the new norm in your life. Your flesh and heart may fail any time but not God. God is the only constant in the equation of life. Make Him the strength of your heart. Receiving the All-Sufficient One as your everlasting portion is the greatest decision you can ever make. Everything you will ever need in life is in Him.

The Psalmist declared: "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." (Ps. 18:2). Did you see that? It's a personal matter. The Lord is MY rock and fortress... You surely have nothing to worry about if you have a personal relationship with the Lord. You are well protected. Moreover, you have access to inexhaustible strength in God. So be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Again, your complete salvation is guaranteed in Him. You have so much to gain and nothing to lose. Psalms 18:2 is for you beloved. Please, declare it over your life and family seven times. Take responsibility right away and by faith reframe your world with the word of God (Heb. 11:3).

Let's spend more of our precious time meditating on the Word of God and confessing same. "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-- meditate on these things." (Phil. 4:8). The enemy would want your heart to be filled with other things but you must not allow that. Keep the word in the midst of your heart through arduous studies and meditation. Your confession should reflect your meditation. The word must not depart out of your mouth (Josh. 1:8).
