AT OUR WEDDING THERE WAS NO WEDDING CAKE; NO MONEY TO BUY...

Marry for love because if you marry for love that marriage will endure. How do I know? I've been married for 50 years I'm still on honey moon. Among those who were meeling round the lady I married the girl I married I was the poorest, I had nothing she knew it and there was even one of us one of my rivals who already had a car; he was a lawyer, he had a car I was still a student I had nothing and I'm telling you the truth I had nothing and I told her I have nothing but if you marry me then whatever I am and whatever I can ever become is yours and thank God she said that's what I've been looking for _ someone who will be hundred percent honest and I'm telling you things were hard initially but because we were in love we survived. Love, not money.

I graduated in June, I married in September I had only earned salary for barely two months (laughing). I don't want to tell you stories today but one day we will tell you the stories I know you want to hear. At our wedding there was no wedding cake no money to buy. Honey moon? get married you go for one week on honey moon.
We married today, tomorrow we resumed because I was a teacher she was a teacher as soon as we married I went back to work she went back to work but I thank God I told her I wasn't a christian just an incurable optimist I said don't worry tomorrow will be all right; thank God things are getting better. I've told some of you before; in those days we will be struggling over " kpomo " say ah ah darling this one is too thick for you to eat it alone let's cut it into two, kpomo (laughing). Today by the grace of God if we want to eat a cow God will provide. Marry for love; the marriage went through all manners of battlings. We married in 67; 68 the first baby came that's added responsibility because she's working I'm working so there was a need for a house help from the little salary we had not to talk of all the relatives that suddenly came to be living with us because now they have a graduate in the family. It was tough but we never looked at what was going on as suffering; we enjoyed every bit of it, we enjoyed the fact that we are married that we are one for the other because love bound us together... love...

I pray for those of you who are yet to marry the almighty God I serve will give you somebody who will love you.

DON'T MARRY A WIFE ON CREDIT, NO CREDIT IN CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE....

The marriage ceremony itself dowry must be paid, can I hear an amen for that? Don't marry a wife on credit, no credit in christian marriage, either today or tomorrow no credit. Don't marry on credit, can I hear an amen?
Pay the dowry of your wife and pay it joyfully. It must be paid joyfully.
The bible tells us in the marriage ceremony when you are about to decide on what to wear or what to do don't forget that that marriage ceremony is just a sign for everybody to see that you are no longer one, you are now two in one and that is not the home that you are looking towards to see it's just a ceremony and it will said all the 1½ hours or 3 hours of the day plus the reception. So 1 Corinthians 9:25 says every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things, now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown but we an incorruptible.

Everything we do must be moderate. Don't because of laudable marriage that everybody will see and they will say ah! we've never seen it before like this oh, go and put yourself into debts or put yourself into sorrow; there is no need for it. Whatever you don't have on the marriage day you will have it later in life in the name of Jesus. When our marriage clocked 50 we were just joking among ourselves, then the general overseer said ah! did we cut cake at the reception? I said who remembered cake but when we were 50 only God knows how many cakes came to that house. The glory of the latter days should be better than the former. Brethren don't because of that 4 hours celebration spoil your tomorrow. The celebration is just for few hours. Whatever you can afford is what you should do.

In RCCG I've seen marriages being conducted between 8 people: the wife-to-be, the husband-to-be, their best man or best lady or what do you call them now and then the parents of the two... 8 people.. and by the time they finish they just gave everybody Mr biggs and that was the end. Today their home is heaven on earth; they are into prosperity, things about their lives is glowing, their children have already even finished the university education, whatever they need today they are not poor at all. Cut your coat according to your clothe, be temperate in all things. It is not compulsory that you should pattern your own marriage to your friend's marriage; just do it according to the will of God and according to what you have...
