Earlier today, I visited the last 3 wells we worked on in this village.

The first well serves an Islamiyyah. Alhamdulillah, the children and teachers still use it every day. But when I looked inside, I saw many items in it. The well now needs cleaning and treatment before it becomes unsafe.

The second well was built for a Masjid and the surrounding community. A brother who lives beside the Masjid told us that during this dry season, after many people fetch water, the well dries up. We checked it together and saw that it needs more digging and cleaning.

The third well, which we completed around July last year, is still in very good condition and continues to serve the whole community every day. Alhamdulillah.

But the first two wells need help urgently.

These are poor villagers. They are the same people we often give our Zakatul-Fitr to. Many of them struggle to eat every day. They cannot afford to repair these wells by themselves.

To clean, treat and deepen the first two wells will cost about ₦50,000.

There are also fresh requests for new wells in other parts of the village and in a Masjid by the main road. To build one complete well, from beginning to end, costs ₦250,000.

This can become a beautiful Sadaqah Jariyah for you, your parents, or a loved one who has passed away.

Imagine every child who drinks from it.
Every old woman who fetches from it.
Every person who makes wudu from it.

The reward continues.

Considering Donation and what would suffice, a Bag and 3 Quarter Bag was Purchased.
Unfortunately,we met 39 Saa and a Cup in it,we had to get an extra 3 Mudu.

A Bag of Rice = N56,000
3 Quarter Bag = N42,000
A Sā = N1,000
A Pack of Nylon = N1,500
Logistics and Miscellaneous = N2,500
Extra 3 Mudu al@N1,400 each = N4,200

Total = N107,200

Shortfall = N4,700

Assalaamu alaykum Everyone,

Towards the end of the year, as we do every year, we carried out our routine assessment to understand how our students on the monthly stipend program were doing (especially the old members). The exercise was handled by the PA/PRO, and she returned deeply moved by what she heard. In addition to what she heard was myself giving details of each of their predicament and why they were given the privileges.

Many of the stories were difficult to listen to. All she could do at some points was pray for the students and for the sponsors who make the initiative possible.

One story stood out in a particularly painful way. A man lost his wife during the fifth child birth (the baby survived), and not long after, he developed a serious stomach condition that eventually required surgery. While recovering, he traveled to his hometown to stay with family. During his absence, the person he entrusted to look after his house failed him. The house was completely burnt down.

Stories like this remind us how fragile life can be.

In the end, we had no choice but to allow the current beneficiaries to remain on the stipend role rather than replace them with those on the waiting list. The only option before us is to expand the list if Allah grants us the means to bring in another set of pupils.

There were many other stories, each heavy in its own way. We may not be able to do everything, but we will continue to do the little we can. We pray that Allah eases everyone’s affairs.
