Text: 1 Corinthians 12:1-7
Key verse: “Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.”
— 1 Corinthians 14:12 (KJV)

The Scripture tells us in our text, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” (1 Corinthians 12:7). One thing that I have known about God is that He hates wastage of resources (John 6:12), and His gifts are no exceptions.

In the same way that the Scriptures instruct us not to receive the grace of God in vain (1 Corinthians 15:10, 2 Corinthians 6:1), so also, the gifts (manifestations) of the Holy Spirit are to be expressed effectively. And the main objective – the ultimate goal, is profit to the Kingdom of God.

Apostle Paul told the Church in Corinth, “Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:12). It does not matter how much or how perfectly you operate in the gifts of the Spirit, you have not excelled until there is profit to the Kingdom of God.

That is why Apostle Paul told the Church in Corinth to excel to the edifying of the Church – profit. Part of the profit is in edifying the Church, but it also includes the harvest of souls into the kingdom, the glorification of the name of Jesus Christ, the enforcement of the will, purpose and intent of God on earth in any particular situation (Hebrews 11:32-35) and so on. Therefore, while earnestly desirous of the gifts of the Spirit, and as you begin to see these gifts in manifestation in your life, see to it that at the end there is profit.

Confession
Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I experience greater manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Key verse: “But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:31 (KJV)

In his teaching on spiritual gifts, Apostle Paul concluded his teaching by saying, “But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” (1 Corinthians 12:31). In other words, he ends his teaching by showing us the most excellent way to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

But first and foremost, many will ask, “what are the best gifts?” While some have argued that it is prophecy, you will notice that the Scripture says, “best gifts” (plural), and not “best gift” (singular). I am of the opinion that the best gifts at any moment are the gifts that are needed in that particular moment.

Right there in the next chapter, the Scripture shows us the best way to operate in the gifts of the Spirit – through love. Yesterday, we saw that operating in the gifts of the Spirit is an exercise of faith. Then, the Scripture tells us, “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” (Galatians 5:6).

That means, it takes a walk of love to make your faith effective. And by extension, it takes a walk of love to effectively operate in the gifts of the Spirit. The extent to which we walk in love is the extent to which God will entrust us with His gifts.

Confession
Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I walk in love and I experience greater manifestations of the Holy Spirit in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.

Text: Romans 12:3-8
Key verse: “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;”
— Romans 12:6 (KJV)

The Scripture tells us in our text that God has dealt to every man the measure of faith. Remember what the Scripture says in Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” In other words, God has given to every man a specific measure of faith.

And then the Scripture says, “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;” (Romans 12:6). In other words, you can only operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the level of your faith.

The Scripture makes it clear that we can abound (grow) in faith (2 Corinthians 8:7). Faith can be increased (Luke 17:5). Regardless of how small you may think the measure of faith you have is, you can increase in faith, your faith can be increased. How? One, by the same way that faith comes – by the hearing of the word of God (Romans 10:17). Two, by exercising your faith. The more you exercise your faith, the stronger it becomes.

Operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit is an exercise of the faith. It takes faith to operate in the gifts of the Spirit. Thus, we can conclude that, the extent to which you have developed your faith is the extent to which you can operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Do you want to experience more of the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Increase your faith.

Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I ask for greater manifestations of the Holy Spirit in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.

Text: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Key verse: “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:11 (KJV)

The Scripture tells us in our text that even though there are many gifts, yet they proceed from the same Spirit, even though there are many spiritual administrations, they all proceed from only one Lord, and also, all operations are as a result of God working it all in everyone.

And after listing the nine gifts of the Spirit, Apostle Paul went on to tell us that, “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will.” (1 Corinthians 12:11). Take note of the last phrase, “…as He will”.

It is not as you will, but as He will. You don’t get to decide which gift you want to operate in or when you want to operate in them. The Holy Spirit is the one who decides the “when” and the particular “gift(s)”. Our role is only to yield ourselves to Him to work out His will through us.

Unless we clearly understand what is, and what is not our role in the manifestations of the Spirit, we will end up in error and fleshy performance. Our role is simply to submit and follow His directions and promptings in our spirit, to follow and not to take charge of the steering wheel. If we will faithfully do that which is expected of us, the Holy Spirit is more willing to pour out and express His unmerited gifts through us.

The Scripture tells us in our text that even though there are many gifts, yet they proceed from the same Spirit, even though there are many spiritual administrations, they all proceed from only one Lord, and also, all operations are as a result of God working it all in everyone.

The first thing this shows us is that, while we can be earnestly desirous of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the source of it all is the Holy Spirit Himself. The gifts don’t exist as an entity on their own, they are the workings of the Holy Spirit.

In other words, our earnest desire should cause us to seek the giver of the gifts and not the gifts themselves. Many desire to operate in the gifts of healings while they care less about deepening the level of their intimacy with the Holy Spirit. They would rather seek for the operation of the working of miracles in their lives but not a deeper walk with the Holy Spirit.

But the reality is that, how well you experience the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in your life depends on your relationship, submission and level of intimacy with the Holy Spirit. While the gifts of the Holy Spirit cannot be earned, your intimacy and submission to the Holy Spirit positions you to receive and operate in the gifts effectively.

Key verse: “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:3 (KJV)

Apostle Paul made it clear in our key verse, “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” (1 Corinthians 12:3).

In other words, it cannot be of the Holy Spirit and not glorify Christ. And if it does not glorify Christ, it is definitely not of the Holy Spirit. All manifestations of the Holy Spirit have this in common. They all glorify Christ Jesus.

The Lord said concerning the Holy Spirit, “He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (John 16:14). That means, the manifestations of Holy Spirit is one of the ways whereby Christ is glorified through our lives.

It is not enough to say that we give glory to God with our mouths, yielding our vessels for the Holy Spirit to express Himself through His gifts helps us glorify God even better. Let us walk more in the Spirit, let us yield ourselves more to God for the manifestations of His gifts, and the world will come to see that God is among us indeed (1 Corinthians 14:24-25).

Text: 1 Corinthians 14:1
Key verse: “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)

Speaking through Apostle Paul, the Holy Spirit says in our key verse, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.” If the Lord says He doesn’t want us to be ignorant, that means He has provided everything we need so as not to be ignorant.

The manifestations of the Spirit of God has been much hindered by the unwillingness and ignorance of many believers. But right there in his letter to the Corinthians, Apostle Paul wrote for us everything we need in order to come into the experience of the manifestations of the Spirit in our lives.

And the starting point for many believers is “Desire”. “But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces). And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one that is better by far and the highest of them all–love].” (1 Corinthians 12:31 AMPC). “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts…” (1 Corinthians 14:1 KJV)

The Scripture tells us to, earnestly desire and to zealously cultivate spiritual gifts. The reason why many believers are not experiencing the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in their lives today is partly due to the lack of desire and zeal for the manifestations of the Spirit. Whether you come into the experience of the manifestations of the Spirit or not, and the extent to which you walk in this experience depends on your level of desire and zeal. God will not give us anything beyond our level of desire.

Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I earnestly and zealously desire the manifestations of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name. Amen.

FAITH TO FORSAKE
Text: Hebrews 11:13-16
Key verse: “And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.”
— Hebrews 11:15 (KJV)

The Scriptures makes it clear to us that it takes faith to receive anything from God. But it is important for us to also realize that faith is not only used for receiving, faith is also used for forgetting. It takes faith to forget and turn your back to certain things.

Moses had more then what many people would wish for while he was in the Egyptian royal house. Money, fame, influence and pleasures. But yet, the Scripture says, “It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:27 – NLT).

The Scripture also tells us about Abraham and others like him who left what the world had for them so as to lay hold on what God had for them. “For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city.” (Hebrews 11:14-16 – KJV).

Dear reader, don’t be among those who still have a longing for things of this world like the wife of Lot. Don’t be among those with a divided heart (James 4:4-5). Exercise your faith to forsake the world and everything it has to offer. Walk in that same path of faith like the elders of old who laid hold on the promises of God.

Confession
Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I refuse to allow my heart to be divided. I refuse to be distracted by the things of these world. I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. I keep my eyes single. In Jesus name. Amen.

OUTPOURING OF LIFE
Text: Ezekiel 47:1-14
Key verse: “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
— John 7:38 (KJV)

The Scripture tells us in our text about a river flowing out of the Temple of the Lord, and the end result of the flow of this river is that, “And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.” (Ezekiel 47:9).

In reference to this Scripture, the Lord said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Then the Scripture says, “But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.” (John 7:38,39).

In other words, there is that inner work of the Holy Spirit in us which makes us dispensers if life. The effect of the manifestation of this dimension of the work of the Holy Spirit in man is the outpouring of life. The manifestation and expression of the life of God in men and through men on the earth.

It is to this end that the Scripture says, “The one who speaks in tongues advances his own spiritual progress…” (1 Corinthians 14:4 – TPT). Furthermore, we are instructed, “But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit; (Jude 1:20 – AMPC).

Confession
Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I build myself up daily through spirit-inspired prayer and the word of God. I rise higher and higher like an edifice. In Jesus name. Amen.

Wednesday April 8
ETERNAL TRAUMA
Text: Colossians 2:13-15
Key verse: “[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].”
— Colossians 2:15 (AMPC)

The Scripture describes the victory of Christ to us in our text. How He defeated the devil and his cohorts, how He triumphed over them and made a public spectacle of them. The New Living Translation renders our key verse thus, “In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.”

The embarrassment and defeat that the devil and his cohorts suffered left them in a state of eternal trauma. It so much traumatized them that the moment a believer puts up a resistance against them, they run. The devil doesn’t “walk” away, the Scripture says, he will “flee” when you resist him (see James 4:7).

My message to you today is to let you know that the devil is traumatized. Whenever he shows up, whenever you see any of his handiworks, even at the slightest display of the works of the devil, boldly resist him, boldly take your stand against. Remind him of his defeat. Refuse to give any ground to him to operate in your life or around you.

Everywhere Jesus went, He was casting out devils and destroying the works of the devil (Acts 10:38, 1 John 3:8). That is why the word of God commands us also, “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:26,27). If you find yourself suffering from any affliction from the devil, it is not God that allowed it, it is you who permitted it (Matthew 18:18). Take your stand against the devil today and resist him. The devil was not only defeated, he is traumatized.

Confession
Dear Father, thank you for the light of your word. I refuse to give any ground to the devil in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.
