HISTORY OF FATHER'S DAY

Father's Day was originally, a United States of America holiday in honour and memory of fathers.

It was initiated by Mrs John Bruce Dodd in Spokane, Washington as a tribute to her father who had successfully brought up his six children, herself inclusive, after the death of their mother.

On one Sunday morning in 1909, Mrs Dodd listened to a Sermon preached in honour of mothers. "Why are fathers not praised like mothers? Mrs Dodd wondered. It is not fair".

So Mrs Dodd asked a group of Ministers of God to help arrange a day just for fathers. The next year on 19 June 1910 (3rd Sunday in June) her wish came true. Spokane thus became the first City to officially honour fathers.

Soon her idea spread across America, and by 1914 it became customary throughout the Nation (America) to observe the 3rd Sunday in June as Father's Day.

On this day 3rd Sunday in June, Sons and Daughters treat their father like a King, Mother prepares father's favourite dinner. Children place fathers newspapers and slippers beside his favorite chair. Therefore, the whole family joins together to let father know how special he is.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to EVERY RESPONSIBLE FATHERS in the house!!!🍸

*THE THIEVES IN OUR BUS*
A Teacher received his salary and boarded a crowded bus back to his home, and there was a thief in the bus. The thief stole the Teacher's money from his pocket.

After the Teacher reached his destination, the driver asked for his fare, the Teacher deep his hand into his pocket and found nothing. The Teacher's face became blushed and his tongue became heavy, he was so embarrassed. The Driver who is now angry said mockingly to the Teacher that: "shame on you, you consider yourself a respected person while you can not afford your transport fare!."
The Teacher was again very much embarrassed.
As this was going on, pride hit a potion of the thief's ego and he was moved to say the angry Driver: "My brother, the teacher's fare is on me!."

That is the thief offered to help the teacher, who is his victim. He helped not out of pity for the poor teacher but to buy other passengers trust and confidence and to use some of the stolen money to earn respect before the rest of the passengers in the bus.

The poor Teacher who did not understand what is happening smiled and said to the thief: *"May God bless you and multiply your likes, sir!."*

Then some of the passengers in the bus also praised the thief, praised his kindness, and also prayed for him and *that God should increase his kinds.*

Since then, the number of thieves in our bus have increased and they continue to receive our thanks and appreciation;

We are all on a bus where thieves are stealing from us and use the stolen money to buy our trust and earn our respect in a way that we keep thanking them for their "kindness".

*This is the metaphor of the state of our nation, Nigeria!*

The thieves in our bus are increasing all the time because we continue praising them for returning small from the many they stole from us.

NB: I saw this somewhere and I feel the need to share it. Compliments of the season.

1 Chronicles 4:9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
