Psalm 121:1–2 (MSG)
“I look up to the mountains;
does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
who made heaven and earth and mountains.”

This week, as we reflect on what it means to be strengthened in spirit, we remember that true strength comes only from God. So we fix our eyes on Him, not on the mountains, not on circumstances, not on our limitations, but on the One who made it all, and who alone supplies the strength we need.

Are you spirited for this?

God is always speaking to us in a language of hope, of the more He is bringing us into. But the size of our spirit shapes how we hear Him, how we see, and how we act.

Proverbs 18:14 (KJV) says,
“The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”

For instance, a broken or discouraged spirit, shaped by painful life experiences, changes how we see the world and how boldly we step into what God is calling us to. It affects how we interpret His voice, His promises, and His direction.

This year, we are pursuing a spirit that is whole, healthy, strong, and fully attuned to all God is doing in and through us.

The wise men followed a star to Jesus!

God would still use the most unlikely things to catch our attention and draw us to Himself. Can you see the stars that He’s putting out for you?

But more than that, He gives us the privilege to be the star for a generation, faithfully traveling our Jesus journey, but helping others along that journey also. Let this Christmas be a reminder to steward your influence rightly for the Cause of Jesus!

The original Christmas happened in the context of a journey- Mary giving birth to the Saviour of the world in a weird place, far away from home.

Year after year, Christmas comes with a lot of journeying.

Last Sunday, our illustrated Christmas service ‘Weird Journeys’ highlighted that it’s more than just Christmas though- all of life is in the context of one big journey of humanity. And as you would imagine, journeying comes with a fair share of uncertainties, questions, twists and turns.

The good news of Christmas though, is about how Jesus also embarked on a journey, and that His journey has intercepted with the journey of humanity, and given us the hope of safety and home in the end of our journey.
