TOPIC:
Who Would Have Said So to Abraham?

Memorise:
And she said, 'Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age. Genesis 21:7

Please read: Genesis 21:1-8

EXPOSITION:
In Genesis 21, Sarah gives birth to Isaac, a miracle child born to Abraham and her in their old age. Sarah’s statement, β€˜Who would have said unto Abraham...?’ expresses her astonishment and wonder at God's unexpected blessing. Sarah's experience reminds us that God's blessings can be unexpected and beyond human understanding. Abraham and Sarah's story demonstrates the importance of trusting God's promises, even when they seem impossible. The birth of Isaac brings immense joy and celebration to Abraham and Sarah, highlighting the importance of rejoicing in God's blessings. Sarah’s statement reminds us of the surprising nature of God's blessings. As we reflect on this story, may our faith be strengthened, and may we trust God's goodness in all aspects of our lives. When faced with unexpected blessings or surprises, trust that God is working in your life. Continue to trust God's promises, even when they seem impossible or unlikely. Celebrate God's blessings: Rejoice and celebrate God's blessings in your life, no matter how small or large they may seem.

Prayer point:
Help me to trust in Your unexpected blessings and promises. Give me the faith to believe in Your goodness, even when things seem impossible. May I always celebrate and rejoice in Your blessings. Amen.

TOPIC:
And the King Arising

Memorise:
And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king. Esther 7: 7

Please read: Esther 7: 1 – 10

EXPOSITION:
And the king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden... for he saw that evil was determined against him by the king (v.7). The rising of a king in this way showed his displeasure and desire for vengeance. It being such a shock to hear of the wickedness of his trusted Hamman. The king found it necessary to think the matter over by himself, as he went into the palace garden alone. Only recently he had promoted Haman above all others in his kingdom (3:1), now he had been proved a fool to have trusted such a man. Knowing that evil was determined upon him, Hamman stood up to request from the queen that his life be spared (v.7). He was desperate that by the time the king returned he had fallen upon the bed where the queen Esther was. At the knowledge of this indignity Hamman was seized and his face covered (v.8). Covering the face of a criminal was a sign of condemnation and death., and that he was no longer worthy to look upon the face of the king. One of the chamberlains told of the gallows Haman had made to hang Mordecai on; and the king commanded that Haman be hung thereon (v.9-10). Thus, the king’s decision establishes every soul what the Scripture says: He that digs a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaks a hedge, a serpent shall bite him. Whoso removes stones shall be hurt therewith; and he, that cleaves wood shall be endangered thereby (Eccl. 10:8-9). Evil shall slay the wicked, and they that hate the righteous shall perish (Ps. 43:21). As the king arose for the sake of Esther and the Jew because of the evil plot of Haman, I decree that God shall arise on your behalf to disappoint and destroy Haman and his cohorts that rise against you, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Prayer point:
Lord, arise for my sake and that of my family to overthrow Haman and his cohorts against me and my family, in Jesus name.

TOPIC:
Who Is He, And Where Is He?

Memorise:
Then the king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is he, who does presume in his heart to do so? Esther 7:5

Please read: Esther 7: 1 – 10

EXPOSITION:
β€˜Who is he and where is he?’ is the fourth acrostic in the Book of Esther where the name of Jehovah is hidden in the ancient Hebrew text, and on the pivot which the history turns. The Hebrew letters here are ENYEN, the abbreviation for I AM THAT I AM (Ex. 2:23-25; 3: 14-15). This statement from Esther was one of the greatest surprises of her life. To think that anybody would presume in his heart to kill the Queen and her people! This shows that neither the king nor Haman knew she was a Jewess and that her people were Jewish. No doubt the king would not have made such a decree if he had realized who the people were that Haman wanted to destroy. The monarch had not examined the facts in the case and was therefore himself guilty of negligence of justice to his subjects. He had only taken the accusations and lies of Hamman in the case, trusting him to be doing the right thing (3:8). Haman himself was a tool of Satan, permitting pride to exalt him to destruction; all he did was so unreasonable. Esther was not afraid to make her accusation to point out the enemy and tell of his wickedness to his face, saying that the adversary was this wicked Haman. This was also a shock to Haman, and one of the greatest surprises of his life, little did he think the day before, when he received the honour of invitation to the banquet of the Queen that this was her purpose. Haman became desperately afraid before the king and the queen (v.6). This is how the Lord will expose your adversary who seek your life and that of your family to destroy in Jesus Name.

Prayer point:
Lord, arise and destroy every Haman that seeks my life and that of my family, in Jesus name.

Shining as Light in the World

Memorise:
That you may become blameless, children of God without fault in the midst of crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. Philippians 2:5

Please read: Philippians 2:12-16

EXPOSITION:
In a world often filled with darkness, confusion, and negativity, we are called to shine brightly as lights for Christ. Philippians 2:12-16 apostle Paul urges the believers to continue living out their salvation with sincerity, working in partnership with. Our light doesn't come from our own efforts but from God's work within us. It is God who gives us the will and the ability to shine in a world that desperately needs His truth. Verse 12 'work out your salvation'. Paul encourages believers to actually engage in the process of salvation. This is not about earning salvation but about living in a way that reflects what God has done us. It's a lifelong journey of becoming like Christ, and allowing Him to shape our hearts and actions. Thus, our lives will reflect God's holiness and love; we then become beacons of hope to people around us, Matt. 5:14-16. One way to shine is through our attitudes and actions. In a world that is quick to complain and argue, we are called to respond differently, as it will distinguish us from the world. Then the peace and joy of the Lord will be our evidence in difficult times. With Christlike attitude, we contrast the negativity and discontentment that dominate today’s world. We are also called to be blameless and pure, living out our identity as children of God. Our lives should be a testament to the goodness and purity of God's character. When we embody these qualities, we stand out, not as perfect people, but as people who reflect God's perfect love and grace. Therefore, in our everyday lives, we countless opportunities to shine whether in our workplaces, schools, homes or communities, the way we respond to challenges, treat others and live out our faith will draw attention to the God we serve. Our light is not for our own glory but to God's glory.

Prayer point:
Dear Lord, help me to shine brightly in this world. Teach me to live out my salvation with reverence and awe, showing your love and grace through my words and actions.
