Today, May 21 2026, the world celebrates the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. This day is set aside by the United Nations and promoted by UNESCO to remind us that our differences are our strength.
The 2026 celebration continues to emphasize on a powerful message: culture connects us all. Culture is not just about food, dressing, or language. It shapes how we think, how we relate with others, and how we understand the world around us.
One of the key messages of this day is the importance of dialogue, learning to listen, understand, and respect others. When students learn to appreciate different cultures, they build stronger relationships and reduce misunderstandings. This is important in today’s world, where lack of understanding often leads to division.
Cultural diversity is also important for development. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved more effectively when we make use of the different ideas, talents, and traditions found in cultures around the world. When people from different cultures come together, they share ideas, solve problems better, and create new opportunities.
Royal College Ibadan is creating an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and respected. This means encouraging teamwork, open-mindedness, and unity among students. These are not just values for school, but life skills that will help students succeed anywhere in the world.
As we mark this important day, we are reminded that our differences should not divide us. Instead, they should bring us together and help us grow.
Let us choose respect over prejudice, understanding over ignorance, and unity over division. Let us celebrate our differences, learn from one another, and build a school community where everyone belongs.

Let’s be honest for a second.
Parenting is hard.
You wake up every morning, pack a bag, say a prayer, and send the most important person in your life out of your door, trusting that wherever they are going will take care of them the way you would.
That trust is everything. And we don't take it for granted.
Every single morning at Royal College Ibadan, before your child opens a single textbook, they are standing here. In lines. Together. Focused. Accountable.
Not because we force them. But because we have built a culture where showing up with discipline is something they are proud of.
We have seen shy children find their voices here. We have seen struggling students discover what they are capable of. We have seen young boys and girls walk through our gates unsure of themselves and leave as confident, grounded young adults ready to face the world.
That doesn't happen by accident.
It happens because every morning starts like this. 👆🏾 It happens because our teachers show up with intention. It happens because the environment we have built here demands the best and rewards it.
So to every parent reading this,
The parent who is already part of our Royal family 💙 The parent who is still searching for the right school The parent who just wants to know their child is in safe and capable hands.
We see your child. We believe in your child. And every single day, we are doing the work.
This is Royal College Ibadan. This is what Wednesday morning looks like here. And we wouldn't have it any other way.
If this resonates with you, like this post, drop a comment and share it with a parent who needs to see this today. You might just help them make one of the best decisions of their child's life. 💙
Happy Wednesday, Royal Family.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is celebrated every year on May 17. It is a day that highlights how communication and technology continue to shape our lives.

The theme for this year is “Digital lifelines”. This is to reminds us that technology is not just about convenience but a system that keeps people informed, connected, and supported especially in critical moments. This year theme calls on governments, industry, and communities to strengthen the digital lifelines that keep the world running.

Telecommunication has become a major part of daily life. From virtual classrooms to digital libraries, from research tools to global collaboration. Students now have access to knowledge at a scale never seen before. A learner in Ibadan can sit in a classroom and still connect to ideas, cultures, and innovations from across the globe. That is the power of telecommunication.
However, not everyone has equal access to digital tools and reliable internet. The gap between those who are connected and those who are not remains a challenge, especially in developing regions. This day reminds us that true development is not just about advancement, but about inclusion and ensuring that no student is left behind in the digital age.

The internet can support research, improve communication skills, and open doors to global knowledge. At the same time, careless use can lead to distraction, misinformation, and harmful interactions.
Proper use of telecommunication means using digital tools with purpose and discipline. It means thinking before posting, verifying information before sharing, and communicating with respect at all times. It also means protecting personal information and understanding that what is shared online can have lasting consequences.

Royal College Ibadan, believe students must be guided to become responsible users of technology.
As we mark the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, let us encourage our students to use technology not just for consumption, but for creation, learning, and meaningful connection.
Remember, technology is only as powerful as the minds that use it.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES

Today May 15,2026, we join the world in celebrating the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES.
The International Day of Families was established by the United Nations in 1993, as a reminder that families are the foundation of every society. Before a child learns to read or write, they learn how to speak, how to behave, and how to relate with others from family. Family aims at shaping values, building character, and influencing the future of children and communities.

This is why the International Day of Families focuses not only on celebration, but also on awareness, thereby highlighting social, economic, and cultural issues that affect families globally.
The theme for 2026 is: “Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing.” This theme focuses on a growing global concern how inequality affects families and more importantly, the development of children. In many parts of the world, families are struggling with:
• Limited access to quality education
• Poor healthcare systems
• Financial instability
• Lack of social support

Research has consistently shown that students perform better when families are actively involved in their education. When parents show interest asking about school, attending events and supporting learning. It creates a strong support system that pushes students to do better. On the other hand, when families face challenges such as financial pressure, limited time, or lack of access to resources, it can affect a child’s academic progress.

For Royal College Ibadan, this day reminds us that education does not exist in isolation. Behind every student is a family supporting, guiding, and believing.
This is also a reminder for students to:
• Appreciate their parents and guardians
• Understand the value of unity and support
• Build strong relationships based on respect and care
Because in the end, strong families build strong individuals and strong individuals build strong nations.
Every family may not be perfect. But in every form, family remains one of life’s greatest gifts.

Take a moment today and appreciate your family!

Today, our school community gathered in reverence and unity to celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. A significant moment in the church that reminds us of hope, purpose, and divine promise.
The Holy Mass brought students and staff together in a spirit of reflection and worship. As we commemorated the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven, we were reminded that His departure was not an end, but a call to live with faith and to carry forward His teachings in our daily lives.
The readings, homily, and prayers challenge each of us to rise above limitations, to grow in character, and to be ambassadors of truth, discipline, and love wherever we find ourselves.
Moments like this remind us that education is not just about academics, but also about nurturing the mind, the heart, and the spirit.
May the blessings of this solemn celebration remain with us all.

On Monday 11th May, 2026, leadership was was entrusted. As our newly elected prefects took their oath of office, the atmosphere was filled with responsibility, and a renewed sense of purpose.
From the powerful words of the Head Boy to the inspiring speech by the Head Girl. This is a generation ready to lead, serve, and make a difference.

This moment is a reminder that leadership is not about titles, but about character, courage, and commitment. These students have stepped forward, chosen by their peers, to represent the voice of the school and uphold its values.

To our prefects: lead with integrity, serve with humility, and never forget that true leadership is shown in the little things you do every day.

The future is bright, and it starts right here.

May 8th, 2026, was a special and memorable day at Royal College Ibadan.
We conducted our Prefects’ Election using a new system that allowed students to vote for the candidates they truly wanted to represent them.
It wasn’t just about selecting prefects, it was about experiencing the true essence of democracy firsthand. From presentation of manifesto to the final votes, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, fairness, and a strong sense of participation.
This initiative is part of our commitment to raising not just academically sound students, but responsible citizens. Through this process, our students learned important values like responsibility, leadership, and the power of their voice. They also understood that every vote counts and that good leadership comes from the choice of the people.
We are proud of every student who participated, the candidates who stepped forward with courage, and the voters who made thoughtful decisions.
This is how leaders are shaped. This is how the future is built.
At Royal College Ibadan, we don’t just teach democracy, we let our students experience it.
Every vote mattered!
Every voice counted!
