STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Friday, 5th April, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional message for today.

Theme: WHAT DOES THE ANOINTING DO?
Scriptural Background; Judges 5:10-16, Acts 10:38

A few of the notable remarks in today's Open Heaven daily devotional message which is basically on the purpose of the anointing include:-

1. The anointing turns the ordinary into the extraordinary..

2. Whenever you are anointed, what you are receiving is the firepower to achieve things that are beyond your normal capacity.

_3. When the anointing comes upon you, you are empowered to do more than you can ever imagine.

The commentary:-

In yesterday's edition of the Open Heaven daily devotional message, anointing was defined as heavenly electricity generated by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8
As reflected in today's message, the anointing that came upon the disciples with the instrumentality of the Holy Spirit was visible.
Acts 2:2-4

From the above scripture, the eye witnesses could see that cloven tongues of fire rested on each person’s head which is comparable to the experience some of us had the day we were baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:11
Appliances in our homes requires varying levels of voltage to make them function.

In the same vein, the level of anointing upon an individual determines his/her level of effectiveness in the kingdom assignment or any other endeavour.
In our Bible reading, we saw how Samson used ordinary jawbone of an axe to kill several people thereby overcoming his enemies.
Judges 15:10-16,

We can them conclude that the anointing helps in subduing or rather exercising dominion over the enemies as witnessed in the days of prophet Samuel.
1Samuel 7:10-15
As could be inferred from our memory verse, the anointing helps the fellow to carryout diverse tasks.
Acts 10:38 cf Isaiah 61:1-3

The anointing upon the head of an individual turns him/her from the ordinary to extraordinary, natural to supernatural as seen with Peter.
Acts 5:15
The anointing upon Moses turned his rod to the rod of God and an instrument for signs and wonders.
Exodus 4:20, 14:16

The same goes for the mantle of prophet Elijah that was passed on to Elisha.
2Kings 2:8,13-15
It follows that whatever is associated with a heavily anointed fellow could become instrument for miracles as seen in apostle Paul too.
Acts 19:10-12

As reflected in today's message, the anointing serves as a firepower to achieve things that are beyond your normal capacity.
Personally, I continue to remark that I don't understand what is going on in the ministry God has graciously commissioned me.
1Timothy 1:12

During the passing week, the Holy Spirit made me to know that I cannot understand neither do I need to understand because He is the One involved.
Zech 4:6
In other words, if I understand, He is no longer involved but now becomes a human and naturally inspired affairs.

There are numerous testimonies to the consternation of many around the church which had been a recurring matter and regular occurrence in the ministry.
Meanwhile, greater caution must be exercised because a carrier of anointing could lose this if care is not taken as seen with Samson..
Judges 16:16-31

Deliberate and concerted efforts must therefore be geared towards sustaining the anointing upon us and to avoid falling from grace by regularly walking with God in holiness and righteousness.
Gen 17:1 cf 1Pet 1:15-16
THE KEY POINT:
When the anointing comes on you, you become extraordinary.

PRAYERS
Father, please open our eyes of understanding to the necessity of Your anointing upon us in Jesus name.

Father, please cause us to have genuine baptismal experience in Jesus name.

Father, please cause us to be baptized by the Holy Spirit and fire so we can carry the necessary firepower in Jesus name.

Father, please increase.our firepower so we can be more effective and attain more for You in the kingdom assignment in Jesus name.

Father, please cause Your Spirit to come upon us and let the anointing flow through us in Jesus name.

Father, please cause the fire to burn continually upon the altar of our hearts in Jesus name.

Father, please help us not to fall from grace in Jesus name.

May this message not stand against us in judgment in Jesus name.

Do have a great day and pleasant weekend ahead.

Shalom.

STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Tuesday, 26th March, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional message for today.

Theme: LEARN FROM ELDERS
Scriptural Background: Exodus 18:1-24

There are so many noteworthy remarks in today's message but we need to ruminate on the following for our own good.

1. Many young people these days see their elders as ‘old school’ and think that they can do without them.

2. The elders have walked the path you are walking now and can tell you the outcome of whatever you are doing, even before you start.

3. There is a popular saying in Africa that what an elder sees while sitting on a chair, the child cannot see it, even if he climbs an iroko tree.

4. There are things about yourself that you don’t know and cannot see, but an elder will see them and advise you appropriately

The commentary:-

Learning is critical to attainment of destiny and indeed the very first course of action that every child takes in the journey of life has to do with learning.
A newly born child begins life through observational learning which leads to imitation and modeling themselves after what the parents does or says.

The scripture noted that wisdom is the principal thing and that we should get wisdom but this wisdom is never available in the market.
Proverbs 4:7
It is essential to know that the best form of wisdom is that which is obtained through elders counsel and guidance.

Moses was dissipating so much energy that could have made him to wear out but for the counsel of his father in-law in our Bible reading.
Exodus 18:1-24
It follows that learning from the elders could help to reduce burden and facilitate attainment of destiny.

However, where the young ones decides to jettison the elders, as king Rehoboam did, such decisions may lead to regret and sorrow later in life.
1Kings 12:13-16
The narrative given in today's Open Heaven devotional message by Daddy GO with respect to the guidance he received from the Late Pa S.G Elton, is quite witty and apt.

I consider this as an eye opener to the upcoming ones and a call for caution to those who are fond of referring to elders as old school.
Like I used to remark and biblically speaking, the old path is far better and it is expedient that we walk therein so we can find rest thereby.
Jeremiah 6:16

In addition to the adage in today's message, it is often said that a child may have as many new clothes beyond that of the elder but his torn clothes cannot withstand what the elders have.
This speaks volume on experience of the elders which the upcoming ones required to model their lives and become better adult.

Unfortunately, they see this as old school, a development that has brought the society to where we are now.
Brethren, it is important that we learn from the elders and listen to their counsels.
Proverbs 11:14,15:22

Be that as it may, deliberate effort must be made by our teeming youths, particularly in the ministry, to learn from the elders.
THE KEY POINT:
The elders in your life are there to guide you with their experiences. Listen to them and honour them.

PRAYERS
Father, please help us to heed to counsels in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to learn from the elders as appropriate in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to obtain counsels from the elders to model our lives accordingly in Jesus name.

Father, please help us not to jettison elders counsels in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to do the needful with regard to today's message in Jesus name.

May this message not stand against us in judgment in Jesus name.

Do have a great day ahead.

Shalom.

STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Friday, 22nd March, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional message for today.

Theme: SEEK GOD FIRST
Scriptural Background: Psalms 63:1-8

Few of the notable statements in today's Open Heaven daily devotional message include:-

1. Your hunger for God should be such that you won’t even remember to eat when it is time to seek Him

2. You should be so hungry for God that you are willing to risk your life just to know Him more.

3. Beloved, please get your priorities right.

The commentary:-

David seems to stand out of all God seekers in the scripture as we could see in our Bible reading.
Psalms 63:1-8
No wonder, God found him to be the one after His own heart and then considered him to lead His people.
1Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22

Essentially, we are to look for the right thing in the right place and at the right time because timing is equally of essence.
2Corinthians 6:1-2
David purposed in his heart, as reflected in our Bible reading, to seek Him early, which is the most appropriate time to seek God
Eccl 12:1-2, cf psalms 63:1

Like the children of Issachar that had the understanding of the time and decided to identify themselves with David, it is important for us to be conscious of time and then surrender to Jesus Christ.
1Chronicles 12:32
Our thirst and hunger for Him is expressed by our zeal and readiness to avoid compromising our faith.
Genesis 39:7-12

An individual that desperately thirst and hunger for God in this sense, was apostle Paul, whose desire to know Him remained unsurpassed by any of the apostles.
2 Cor 11:27, cf 1Cor 15:10, Phil 3: 10
In his thirst and hunger for God as well as quest to carryout kingdom assignment, subject was ready to put his life at risk and died in the process.
Acts 21:13

Interestingly, experience shows that it is very rewarding to thirst and hunger for Him.
Matthew 5:6
According to today's message, our desire to know God should be uppermost and should take priority over worldly pursuit and eager to meet basic necessities of life.
Romans 16:18 cf Phil 3:19

I recalled in one of the Let's-Go-A-Fishing program, I left my quarter ajar just to meet up with the 8a.m timing, only to come back later in the night and begin to look for the key unknown to me that a neighbour had helped locked and kept the key.
Relatedly, I was supposed to be at our usual monthly retiree meeting for this particular month where we also take slight refreshments but completely forgot until the evening because of an ongoing kingdom assignment.
John 21: 15:17

According to the scripture, acceptable service for God has to do with the level of sacrifice we are able to make.
Romans 12:1 cf Psalms 50:5
One thing that is noticeable in the scripture, is that everyone has a reason for following or desiring to seek God as noted by Jesus Christ Himself.
John 6:26

As posited in today's message: What exactly are the things you are hungry for? Food? Fame? Money?
Phil 3:8
We then counselled to put all these aside and let our hunger and thirst every day be for God; in which case, the search for His kingdom and righteousness must be uppermost in our hearts
Matthew 6:33.

PRAYERS
Father, please let there be an insatiable hunger for You in our hearts in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to seek You in the most appropriate manner and time in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to be much more zealous for kingdom assignment in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to enter into covenant with You by sacrifice as appropriate in Jesus name.

Father, please help our souls to follow hard after You as David purposes in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to increase our thirst and hunger for godly things in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to make seeking Your kingdom and righteousness a priority in Jesus name.

Do have a great day and pleasant weekend ahead.

Shalom.

STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Thursday, 21st March, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional message for today.

Theme: COMFORT IN SERVICE
Scriptural Background: Psalm 26:8, Jeremiah 29:12-13

Few of the noteworthy remarks in today's message include but not limited to the following:-

1. Whether there is comfort or discomfort, when you know that God is in a meeting, forget your social status and rush there.

2. If you go to church to flaunt your social status, there is something deeply missing in your Christian life.

3. I will gladly sleep on the floor to see God’s throne room.

4. One thing I know about God is that you must search for Him if you want to truly know Him.

The commentary:-

Essentially, there is a need to get the understanding that service takes priority over comfort of any kind.
At the onset of Jesus Christ earthly ministerial assignment, we saw Him being led by the Spirit into the wilderness.
Matthew 4:1

If I may ask, what comfort is in observing fasting and prayer for good forty days and nights, then remain in the wilderness where we seldom have water to drink?
The experience of the Israelites shows that there is always thirst and hunger in the wilderness which doesn't call for comfort and ,a development that Satan catches on to tempt our Lord Jesus Christ.
Exodus 15:22 cf Luke 4:1ff

When an individual is rich towards God, he/she think less on personal comfort but a desire to see God and align him/herself to His divine purpose and Will.
Matthew 26:36-44
Imagine the narrative in which Daddy GO, as a university lecturer, had to sleep in student dormitories in his quest to know God as pictured in today's message.
1Peter 5:10

According to apostle Paul, he likened everything to dungs and
counted all things but loss for the excellency of knowing more of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:8
This reflects the mindset of kingdom seekers as they valued service over comfort and you hardly discern this in their disposition and demeanour but depended solely on God for grace and strength.
Phil 4:11-13

I recalled my very first posting as a parish pastor after the Holy Spirit had given me the nudge to decorate the church with personal resources including the rug by the altar while in the Eastern part of the country.
It was the very Sunday I would have enjoyed service at the zonal headquarters that I was posted to begin a parish under bamboo tree in a tick forest where you seldom see people around.
Luke 14:26-27

By His grace, we took the assignment with joy and amazingly people, including disable on wheel chair, will leave well furnished parishes to come and fellowship in the forest.
John 12:20-21
Those who desire to know more of Christ, takes kingdom assignment much more serious than the benefit and comfort therein.

There are so many testimonies to share in this direction but for want of time and space.
At a time, I was posted to parish a church within a school located at a dead end where I met only one person standing after thirteen years of existence.

The provincial pastor called for a meeting and observed that I was wrongly posted but I retorted that he should allow the posting to stay being part of God's will for me and to the glory of God, there was great and massive transformation after less than a year after our assumption of duty.
Jeremiah 29:11
Like I do maintained, my core mandate is service to God first and then unto humanity.
Matthew 22:37-40

Meanwhile, the.more acceptable of this sort of service is that which involves sacrifice, a more reason why He is in search of those who have vowed to enter into covenant with Him by sacrifice.
Psalms 50:5 cf Romans 12:1
As pointed out in today's message, it is important to prioritize our search for God and particularly at our youthful age.
Eccl 12:1-2 cf Isaiah 55:6

The bottom line is that the environment where we worship particularly with regard to comfort does not necessarily matter but God's presence.
I kept wondering what is drifting people to the centre where we currently worship but then I could see God through their testimonies.

Be that as it may, wish to encourage my readers to take service much more important than earthly comfort which more often than not takes the careless ones away from faith.
Luke 18:8
THE KEY POINT:
Don't miss your miracle because you are looking for comfort.

PRAYERS
Father, please open our eyes of understanding to see You as against the environment of worship in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to search for You early in Jesus name.

Father, please cause us to value service as against comfort in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to tow the footstep of apostle Paul who for the excellency of knowing You considered all things as dung in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to wholly yield ourselves unto You and Your will alone in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to search for You as appropriate in Jesus name.

Father, please strengthen us in faith and help us to accept this somewhat hard teaching in Jesus name.

May this message not stand against us in judgment in Jesus name.

Do have a great day ahead.

Shalom.

STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Saturday, 16th March, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional for today.

Theme: LIVE SELFLESSLY
Scriptural Background: Genesis 50:15-21, Revelation 4:11

Some of the noteworthy statements in today's Open Heaven daily devotional message are:-

1. When we live for ourselves alone, we negate the purpose of our existence.

2. Joseph's love of God in him made him realize that his sufferings served a higher purpose for God and humanity.

3. Our Father in heaven wants us to live a selfless life so that we can attain the fullness of His purpose for our lives.

The commentary:-

A selfless person is one who thinks about the welfare and wellbeing of others before that of his/her which is in consonant with the purpose of our existence.
Essentially, a key purpose of our existence in life is to positively impact on others as much as we have opportunity.
Galatians 6:9-10

Selflessness is the exact opposite of being selfish or self-centered and we need to know that those who fall under this group are evil.
The evil stems from the fact that they don't mind what it takes them to realize their ambitions.

We are saying, selfless people are more concerned with others rather than seeking their own comfort, an attribute of love.
1Corinthians 13:5
The parable of Jesus in the scripture with regard to the rich man whose ground yielded plenty substance reveals that selfless people are rich towards God whereas selfish ones are rich towards themselves.
Like 12:16-21

As reflected in today's message, we could see this very attribute manifesting in Joseph, who after enduring so much suffering still considered his evil brethren.
Genesis 50:15-21
Selfless people adopt sacrificial lifestyle and won't withhold anything good from those around them.
Romans 8:32

The above scripture revealed that living selflessly is divine and it is important we imbibe same as well.
John 3:16
Living selflessly is a mark of love and we know that love is the tripod upon which the whole commandments hangs..
Matthew 22:37-40

The basic challenge confronting us as a nation and even church, is the lack of selfless leaders.
A selfless fellow is ready to sacrifice affluence and thereby suffered as remarked in today's message where Moses decided to identify with his suffering people than remain in palace.
Hebrews 11:24-27

This was my experience while in public service when I resisted sharing allowances meant for others on the field with my boss who later removed me from the post.
Basically, selfless people always desire the comfort of others and after the needs of people around them.

The essence of today's message is for us to examine ourselves to know which divide we belong and where necessary repent.
Acts 3:19 cf 2Corinthians 13:5
Be that as it may, deliberate effort must be geared towards living selflessly for a better society.

PRAYERS
Father, please open our eyes of understanding with regard to the need for selfless living in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to live selflessly in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to adopt a sacrificial lifestyle in Jesus name.

Father, help us to do whatever it takes to achieve selfless lifestyle in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to achieve the purpose of our existence in life in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to exhibit love as a mark of selfless living in Jesus name.

May this message not stand against us in judgment in Jesus name.

Do enjoy your weekend.

Shalom.

STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Thursday, 14th March, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional message for today.

Theme: THE GREAT COMMISSION
Scriptural Background: Matthew 28: 19-20, Mark 16:15

Few of the notable remarks in today's Open Heaven devotional message include:-

1. Now that He had paid the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus said, “Go and tell everyone around the world that they don’t have to perish in hell.

2. Ponder on the fact that some of your friends, neighbours, and colleagues may go to hell if you don’t tell them about Jesus Christ.

The commentary:-

Generally, the great commission involves preaching the message of the kingdom.
Matthew 10:7
It also involves enlightening people around us of the imminent of God's judgment in which everyone shall render account of stewardship.
Hebrews 9:27, 2Corinthians 10:5
We are to let them know that heaven and hell are real and that these are choices that would be made while on this side of the planet.
However, we must be born again to make our message to be effective.
1Peter 1:23

More importantly, for effectiveness in discharging this onerous responsibility saddled every believer, we are to share our experience in Christ.
We can draw inference from the very instruction Jesus gave to the young man that was delivered from the caprices of the forces of darkness that addressed themselves as legion.
Mark 5:18-20

In other words, we are required to share great tidings of hope and deliverance available through Christ.
We are saying that before we can discharge the gospel message in the most effective manner, the fellow must have the necessary tidings.

By tidings, we mean sharing our experiences which has the impact of strengthening the faith of others and drawing them unto Christ.
John 4:48
Ahimaaz had ran passed Cushi but because he had no tidings, his message before king David had no meaningful impact.
2 Samuel 18:22-29

What we are saying is that believers should have real encounter and be genuinely born again for greater effectiveness.
This is because, you cannot give what you don't have, a development that accounts for the situation in the church of God today.

Meanwhile, as many of us as have this real experience in Christ mustn't rest on our oars but step out to share same begining from our own Jerusalem.
Acts 1:8
When the Lord graciously commissioned me into the ministry, the Holy Spirit told me He has given me "A Church On The Move".

By the grace of God, the Holy Spirit has given us the nudge to go for a three day crusade at the outskirt of the Ibadan metropolitan city which begins next week Wednesday.
If the disciples had remained in Jerusalem, we wouldn't have heard about the gospel, a more reason why we must be involved.

The gospel is not what we should be ashamed of and I believe the best way to preach the gospel is through observing the message we are preaching.
Romans 1:16 cf James 1:22-23
As reflected in today's message, we have responsibility to preach without which those that ought to hear won't be able to hear and understand.
Romans 10:14-17, Acts 8:27-39

To this end, deliberate and concerted effort must be geared towards preaching the good news to avoid the narrative in today's message, in which the friend of a believer passed on without hearing the message of the gospel.
MATTER FOR REFLECTION:
How will you feel if any of your friends went to hell because you did not tell them about Jesus Christ and the dangers of hell? Preach to them now!

PRAYERS
Father, please open our eyes of understanding with regard to the great commission in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to have real encounter with You in Jesus name.

Father, please empower Your word in our mouth in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to get engaged in the great commission in Jesus name.

Father, please strengthen and help us to carryout the great commission in the most effective manner in Jesus name.

Father, please quicken our mortal body and help us to devote ourselves to the task of soul wining in Jesus name.

May this message not stand against us in judgment in Jesus name.

Do have a great day ahead.

Shalom.

STARTING YOUR DAY WITH THE ALMIGHTY.
Wednesday, 13th March, 2024.

Good morning and welcome to COMMENTS AND PRAYERS on the Open Heaven daily devotional for today.

Theme: WITH GREATNESS COMES SACRIFICE.
Scriptural Background: Proverbs 13:1-4, 1Corinthians 15:10

Few of the notable remarks in today's Open Heaven daily devotional message include but not limited to:-

1. Only those that are willing to make sacrifices will be great.

2. The benefits of a life without sacrifice are temporary.

3. The taller a building will be, the deeper its builders must dig before laying its foundation.

The commentary:-

Essentially, God is much more interested and concerned with those who have entered into covenant with Him by sacrifice.
Psalms 50:5
During the earthly ministerial assignment of our Lord Jesus Christ, He made it categorically clear that becoming His disciples entails a life of denial which is synonymous with sacrifice.
Matthew 16:24

More importantly, an acceptable service is measured by the level of sacrifice the individual is able to make.
Romans 12:1-2
According to today's message, greatness is determined by our willingness and the level of sacrifice we are able to make.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2, Isaiah 1:19.

In the academia for instance, performance of student are always dependent on the sacrifices made by devoting oneself to studying.
This is equally applicable to those in the ministry and for instance a fellow that doesn't study the bible, read about other ministers and listen to messages cannot compare him/herself with others that do.
2Timothy 2:15

I have always maintained the fact that any minister of the gospel that often give him/herself to feeding with fat belly as well as pleasure of life will most likely lack the necessary spiritual prowess to carryout the assignment.
Matthew 17:15-21
Basically, today's message is an admonition to adopt self discipline and engage ourselves privately on needful spiritual activities.

As a matter of fact, what we do underneath and in the hidden determines our outward performance or rather the level we would reach in life.
David had been ble to destroy a lion and a bear underneath, a development that instigated his quest to confront Goliath.
1Samuel 17:34-37

There is no gainsaying the fact that we all have individual potentials but they remain hidden and not until we develop them, they won't be made manifest.
Attaining greatness in life is however dependent on how far we are able to diligently develop ourselves privately.

There is no doubt that today's message has helped to open our eyes of understanding to see what has brought Daddy GO to the level he is presently
I believe the essence of the message is to spur us to imitate him as apostle Paul counselled.
1Corinthians 11:1

Be that as it may, let's strive to adopt a life of sacrifice to enable the potentials and greatness in us to come into limelight.
THE KEY POINT:
Pay the price and you will get the prize of greatness.

PRAYERS
Father, please help us to do the needful so we cbecome great in life in Jesus name.

Father, please help us concentrate on edifying things that will cause the greatness in us to be made manifest in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to develp our individual potentials the most profitable way so they can made manifest in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to give ourselves to necessary spiritual activities that would enhance our greatness in Jesus name.

Father, please help us enter into covenant with You by sacrifice as appropriate in Jesus name.

Father, please help us to adopt a lifestyle of sacrifice as required for greatness in Jesus name.

May this message not stand against us in judgment in Jesus name.

Do have a great day ahead.

Shalom.
