THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING (PART 1)
The Bible admonishes us to pray all manner of prayers, one of which is the Prayer of Thanksgiving which is so potent, never failing and never missing it's target. It is very possible to miss the Target or aim outrighly at a wrong target. But with the prayer of Thanksgiving never misses it's target as God is always the Target and it is He who determines the next course of action.
All through the holy scriptures, we see the wonders and effectiveness of this form of prayer and we must know that it remains as active and powerful as it was back then today. After being beating and thoroughly scourged during the day, these two generals of God, during the midnight of the same day when the pain from their scars is expected to be at its peak, decided to act against what their bodies must have been telling them and switched over to singing the praise of God and in the end, an earthquake occured and the very foundation of the prison was shaken, the prison doors all flung open and they eventually gained their freedom.
What more shall we say about the falling of the wall of Jericho. Just by the praise of the Almighty God, the wall which stood between the children and their possession sank, paving the way for them to enter into their glorious inheritance.
Once during the reign of king Jehoshaphat, three great nations gathered inbattke against the nation of Israel (2Chro.20). Perplexed and not knowing what to do, the king ran to the prophet who told them the mind of God. Before long, something that had never happened before happened, instead of going to battle with their military men, the children of Israel entered the battle with worshippers who sang and praised God and soldiers behind. In the end, as the Israelites, praised God, the enemy nation's fought against themselves until they destroyed one another and the soldiers of Israel only had the responsibility of packing the plunders which they never laboured for. Whatever it is that is the worry, which you have prayed and prayed over and it seem not to shift, it's not time to give up o, it's rather the time to switch to praise.
