ESTABLISHMENT OF A CENTRE FOR AIC STUDIES
On the 6th of November 2021, during the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of the Good News Theological Seminary, The Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Okoh, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Seminary and the Chairman of the OAIC, pledged to support the establishment of an African Instituted Churches (AIC) Research Centre to be known as The Centre for AIC Studies, on the campus of Good News Theological Seminary. The pledge and the vision, I believe, turned the bones of all the departed founders of AICs in their graves - in excitement.
It may interest you to know that an AIC Research Centre established by the Late Harold Turner at the Selly Oak Colleges, University of Birmingham, UK, is now known as the Centre for Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies.
The establishment of the AIC Research Centre will complement the ongoing AIC story. It will transform the oral tradition of the story to a documented tradition. Lastly, it will preserve the exploits of the AICs - both ancient and modern.
An Appeal.
The Good News Theological Seminary is, therefore, appealing to all to help equip the Centre with everything that would tell the story vividly and pragmatically.
Some of the things needed are:
Photos/portraits of founders, trailblazers, and prominent persons,
photos of worship centres and other facilities.
Photos of events both significant and what are considered insignificant.
Written and or published articles or books about the AICs. Artifacts, souvenirs, movies, sketches, speeches, Constitutions, Programmes of past events, hymn books, documentaries, Sunday school materials/manuals, almanacs, Magazines, Journals, drama, funeral Programmes, and anything that tells the story.
Electronically, we will need url links to AIC websites, Facebook, etc. A large screen Television is also needed.
