MORE PRAYER, LESS GOSSIP… MORE GOSSIP, LESS PRAYER 🔥🔥🔥
The mouth has been structured to talk. Therefore it’s either it talks to God about men, talk to men about God, or talk to men about men (gossip). The mouth that talks to God about men (intercession), is the mouth that will talk to men about God (evangelism). But when the mouth is not functioning vertically (man to God, God to man), it will function horizontally (man to man).
Herein lies what differentiates the carnal from the spiritual. While carnal men find pleasure talking on an horizontal level, spiritual men takes delight engaging the mouth on a vertical level. Men who shook their generation and commanded outstanding exploits for God were men whose mouth functioned more on a vertical level than on an horizontal level.
Jesus was a perfect example. During His Earthly ministry, it was explicitly recorded in scriptures that He would go to a solitary place early ours of the morning engaging in vertical communication (man to God – prayers) and when he would come down from the mountain, he would walk the streets of Israel also engaging in vertical communication – talking to men about God. This was why he would often cry “repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand”.
This doesn’t imply that as believers we shouldn’t engage in man to man communication. However, when our vertical communication comes first, our horizontal communication will be well defined and more meaningful.
It is easy to spot a praying man. Praying men talk less about irrelevant issues. The tongue is the instrument of authority. Any man who wants to operate in spiritual power must learn to bridle his tongue.
You can’t talk carelessly all the time and expect to maximize your instrument of authority (tongue). Remember when Prophet Isaiah was cleansed? The Angel took a coal of fire and placed it on his mouth and declared “…thy sin is purged” (Isaiah 6:5-7). His mouth was specifically touched because it was his instrument of authority as a prophet.
A generation of Christians that talks more than they pray will end up becoming spiritual liabilities. Talking about issues have less effect than praying about them. Instead of gossiping about the problem in your local assembly, pray about it and see God move into action.
Instead of complaining about the weaknesses of your leaders at their back, devote 30mins daily to pray for them and see how God will move in their lives and transform them. Prayerlessness hinders the workings of God in a generation. It promotes gossips that in-turn sponsors internal crisis in any church. It is time to embrace prayer. Start now!
Shalom.
