Iran has launched drones hitting Saudi Aramco's Ras Tanura refinery in retaliation against US and Israeli strikes.

This is escalating into a major regional conflict, with oil facilities across the Gulf now targeted
The 2003 Iraq war was built on lies—no WMDs were found.

Many see it as a move to secure US dominance in the Middle East, control oil, and protect allies like Israel. Any nation challenging that power faces pressure, sanctions, or intervention.Today's situation with Iran feels eerily similar: nuclear claims as the excuse for threats and strikes. Is this really about global security, or maintaining Western power and influence in the region?

History warns us against repeating mistakes that lead to war and chaos. The US seeks to dominate the Middle East and Africa through divide-and-rule tactics—supporting certain leaders, controlling resources, dictating oil/mineral extraction terms, and using allies (like Israel in the Middle East) to counter non-cooperative countries. In Africa, the same patterns: foreign influence over resources and politics, often with local leaders complicit.

Here in Nigeria, amid this tension, Dangote Refinery just raised petrol prices (from ~N774 to N874-875 per litre ex-depot on March 2, 2026), with pump prices likely hitting N980–N1,000+ soon—directly tied to surging global crude from the conflict.

During wars or high tension, fuel/ammo/jet sales boom; buyers shift to African suppliers like Nigeria when Gulf supplies are disrupted. This war isn't primarily about religion—it's about power, oil, geopolitics, and control.

In Nigeria, we often frame everything through religion, tribe, or ethnicity, blinding us to the real drivers: corrupt politics, foreign meddling, and even local sponsorship of terrorism. My dear brothers and sisters, let's pray WW3 doesn't erupt. China, Russia, and North Korea stand as the main counterweights that could challenge US dominance—but at what cost to the world?

Open your eyes beyond the surface. Power games affect us all. Stay informed, stay safe.

📝 OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENCY AND MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Date: July 3, 2025
From: A Concerned Nigerian Citizen
To:

His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The President of the Senate

The Speaker of the House of Representatives

All Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the National Assembly

Subject: An Urgent Call to Secure the Release of Leah Sharibu

Your Excellencies,

I write to you today not as a politician, not as a party loyalist, but as a concerned Nigerian, a voice among millions who have not forgotten Leah Sharibu — a daughter of this nation who has been left behind in captivity for over 7 years.

On February 19, 2018, 110 schoolgirls were kidnapped in Dapchi, Yobe State.
While 107 were returned and 2 reportedly died, one girl — Leah Sharibu — remains in captivity to this day, simply because she refused to renounce her Christian faith. Her strength and courage are an inspiration. But her continued captivity is a national failure.

This is no longer a party issue.
This is a matter of national conscience.

Successive administrations have made promises without delivery. We have heard statements like "negotiations are ongoing" or "we know she is alive" — yet her parents wait in tears, and the nation watches in silence.

As citizens, we now ask:

Why has no concrete operation or breakthrough been achieved to bring her home?

Do we lack the intelligence or the political will?

If our leaders cannot protect a single innocent girl, how can they protect the nation?

Our Demands:

1. Immediate prioritization of Leah Sharibu's rescue as a matter of national emergency.

2. A public update from the presidency and security chiefs on efforts made so far.

3. A special legislative hearing to probe all past efforts and determine accountability.

4. Recognition of Leah Sharibu as a symbol of national resistance and her inclusion in all national conversations on insecurity and education.

Let Us Act — Before It Is Too Late

Your Excellencies, the Nigerian people are watching. History is watching.
Do not let Leah’s name become a permanent scar of abandonment on the conscience of this nation.
Let it instead become a symbol of redemption — that when Nigerians demand justice, their leaders respond.

Free Leah Sharibu. Restore her family. Rebuild our hope.

Sincerely,
A Concerned Nigerian
✊🏽🇳🇬

Sole survivor: I watched air hostesses die before me
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh escaped wreckage of Air India crash by climbing out of broken emergency door

The British man who survived the Ahmedabad plane crash saw air hostesses die before him as he made his miraculous escape from the disaster.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, walked away from the crash of Air India flight 171 after climbing out of the broken emergency exit door next to him.

More than 240 people died in what was the deadliest plane accident in a decade.

Narendra Modi, India’s prime minister, visited Mr Ramesh in the aftermath of the crash.

The businessman, who had been flying back to the UK after tending to his business in India, told the Indian state broadcaster DD News from his hospital bed: “I don’t believe how I survived. For some time I thought I was also going to die.
“But when I opened my eyes I realised I was alive, and I tried to unbuckle myself from the seat and escape from where I could.

“I saw people dying in front of my eyes – the air hostesses, and two people I saw near me ... I walked out of the rubble.”

Mr Ramesh continued: “The side of the plane I was in landed on the ground, and I could see that there was space outside the aircraft. So when my door broke I tried to escape through it, and I did.

“The opposite side of the aircraft was blocked by a building wall [of a doctors’ hostel where the plane crashed], so nobody could have come out of there.”

Mr Ramesh was sitting in seat 11A, next to the emergency doors over the front of the wings. This is the structurally most robust part of a plane and gives passengers the best chance of escaping a crash if they survive the initial impact.
He said the plane appeared to almost come to a standstill in mid-air for a few seconds shortly after take-off, and the green and white cabin lights were turned on.

He added that he could feel the engine thrust increasing, but then the plane “crashed with speed into the hostel”
Addressing what had happened before the incident, Mr Ramesh added: “When the flight took off, within five to 10 seconds it felt like it was stuck in the air.

“Suddenly, the lights started flickering – green and white. The aircraft wasn’t gaining altitude and was just gliding before it suddenly slammed into a building and exploded.”

“At first, I thought I was dead. Later I realised I was still alive and saw an opening in the fuselage. I managed to unbuckle myself, used my leg to push through that opening, and crawled out.”
Doctors told local media that Mr Ramesh did not sustain any major injuries, and he said he walked out of the crash site with only burn injuries on his left arm.
