๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒน๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŽ€ MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
MONDAY OCTOBER 11, 2021.
"BE AN EXHORTER (1)"
โ€œExhort one another daily.โ€ Hebrews 3:13 NKJV

THE GREEK word for exhort is โ€œparakalew.โ€ It comes from two words, one meaning โ€œalongside ofโ€ and the other meaning โ€œto call.โ€ This is the root of the Greek word โ€œparaclete,โ€ which is the name Jesus gave the Holy Spirit. The real ministry of the Holy Spirit is to exhort and encourage us in our walk with God. So you are never more like the Holy Spirit and never more in tune with His ministry, than when you are exhorting and encouraging others. An exhorter can turn a loser into a winner, a shirker into a worker, and a pessimist into an optimist. They inspire others with renewed courage, spirit, and hope. They have a ministry of affirmation and appreciation. Itโ€™s important to remember the distinction between appreciation and affirmation. We appreciate what a person does, but we affirm who a person is. Now appreciation comes and goes because itโ€™s usually related to someoneโ€™s accomplishments, but affirmation goes right to the heart of a person because it is directed at that personโ€™s individual worth. An exhorter has the ability to make you feel good about yourself. They uplift, inspire, motivate, and make you feel better just by being around you. The Bible says that Barnabas was an exhorter. โ€œThen news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lordโ€ (Acts 11: 22-23 NKJV). So the word for you today is: be an exhorter.

The man in our Bible story was sick and helpless. He could not sit, stand or even move from where he laid down except someone assisted him to get up. It was a pitiful situation.

*The helpless condition of the man is the general situation of a life without Christ.* The man had been in this helpless situation for thirty-eight years and would have remained that way till death but for the love and compassion of Jesus.

Jesus asked him, *"Wilt thou be made whole?"* and he told Jesus of his helpless and seemingly hopeless condition. *There is no help out of sin or its consequences except through Jesus. If you are a believer, then you have Jesus as your sure Helper.*

The Bible is full of promises to meet your needs - spiritual, physical, academic and other needs. *The good thing about being a Christian is that in all you do, Jesus is with you and will help you.*

*Sin is the greatest problem of any man. The wages of sin is death and no man has the solution to sin except Jesus Christ who died on the cross to save us from sin and hell fire. Sinners should repent, turn away from sin, and surrender their lives to Jesus.*

*Tithe, defined as one-tenth or 10% of one's income, was required of Israelites in the Law of Moses (Leviticus 27:30). Refusal to tithe was considered a robbery, attracting a curse, while obedience assured them of great blessings (Malachi 3:8-12).*

*It is on record that the multimillionaire earth moving machine manufacturer, Mr. R. G. Tourneau, who invested much in the gospel work, gave 90% of his huge income instead of 10%. In the same vain, John D. Rockefeller Sr. and Mr. Cromwell, founder of Quaker Oats Company, gave tithes when they were poor until they became rich.*

*Abraham paid tithe to Melchisedec, king of Salem, a priest of God and a type of Christ (Genesis 14:18), and was blessed. Believers, today, are beneficiaries of the Abrahamic covenant blessings through faith (Galatians 3:13-14).*

*Jesus, the Priest after the order of Melchisedec, did not outlaw tithing (Matthew 23:23-24). His love and supreme sacrifice for our redemption must constrain us to give not just our tithes but even our very lives. Obedience brings blessings! Start today.*

*HOLDING ON TO GOOD HABITS*

```๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ“œBIBLE TEXT:DANIEL 6:5-10๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ“œ```
```๐Ÿ“–MEMORY VERSE:``` _*โ€œNow when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetimeโ€ (DANIEL 6:10).*_

*It was the undying habit of Daniel to pray thrice a day and not even his planned ex*****on could stop it. All Christians must hold on to godly habits. Just as bad habits are formed by repeated actions so are good habits formed and strengthened. Hence Prof. William James said, โ€œSow an action and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.โ€*

*Every Christian youth who wants to please God and make heaven must hold on to godly habits in a world that is given to negative changes. Some good habits that youth boys and girls must hold unto are: punctuality, regular โ€˜quiet time,โ€™ regular attendance at Church fellowships, diligence at studies and domestic chores, waking up early and greeting parents respectfully. Self-discipline helps us to keep to good habits as many people and things would try to distract us. Sometimes it is even your own body that is the detractor, seeking rest when you need to pray, study or work. Pray for Godโ€™s help for victory.*

MONDAY JANUARY 18, 2021

*TOPIC: TRIUMPHING OVER TEMPTATIONS*

*Bible Text: Hebrews 4:14-16*

*Memory Verse: โ€œFor we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sinโ€ (Hebrews 4:15).*

*When you are under temptation, you might feel an intense pressure to do something that you should not do; the devil or his agents would entice you with eloquent words, money or material things to draw you into sin. โ€œIt is our great task to use all diligence so that we do not fall into temptation,โ€ said John Owen. Our Bible text says that Jesus was tempted in all points, yet without sin. That means He triumphed. As the Last Adam, Jesus Christ had victory over the devil in the wilderness when he tempted Him with food, power display and worldly glory.*

*All Christians can triumph as Christ did. He quoted the Word on each occasion that He was tempted. You also have the Word which you can apply by faith to overcome any tough or subtle temptation. Moreover, you can avoid people, places and objects of temptation; remember, David fell for lusting after Bathsheba while she was bathing; but Joseph triumphed as he fled the scene of temptation. H. R. Palmer (1897) in his hymn said, โ€œYield not to temptation, For yielding is sin.โ€*

๐ŸŽˆ *Challenge: Think of Christ and heaven when tempted.*

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ *Prayer: See me through when I am tempted, oh God.*

๐Ÿ”ฎ *Quote: He quoted the Word on each occasion*
