‭Text: Mat. 5:14-16
Topic : Light of the world
Introduction: God knows and understands that this world is full of darkness and that all evil works man has brought darkness into this world. He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ into the world to be the Light of this world of darkness. And Jesus knew that He would not be in this world forever physically, and the world must not cease to have Light. Hence the need for His to transfer the duty and responsibility of being the Light of this world of darkness to His disciples (Christians), who are the called out ones that shall be in the perfect image of the Son of God (Jesus Christ)...John 1:1-9, 8:12,9:5. He now commanded them to constitute light into this very dark world.

God the father is light, John 1:5, Jesus is the light of the world John 8:12 and this assignment of lightening He transferred to us before he left this world.
So, if you are now born again, it is a sacred duty that your father in heaven expects you to perform in the world and that is to be the light of this world.

How Christ wants us to constitute light
1. By exposing darkness and its works...Eph. 5:11-13

2. By godly conduct, character and good deeds. (Through our exemplary and righteous lifestyle, words of grace in our mouths, sincere and honest dealings among all men and women and set standards for them Mat. 5:15b,16

3. By bringing others out of darkness into the light of God.

[15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
[16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
