I WANT THIS POWER

In our just concluded conference in Suleja with Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, a pregnant woman went wild on the last day crying, “I want this power!” All through the four days of the conference there was open demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit but it was on the last evening that I discussed on the need for the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer. To say the least, she took me by surprise because her husband and she have been close to me for the period of the conference. In fact, they took over my feeding from my host pastor and they were the ones that brought me to the venue of the program in their car that evening. I even feel that all along that lady had been praying that somehow God will see her heart and allow the Holy Spirit flow through me and over to her thirsty soul.

By the last day of the program she perhaps feared that this was not to be, hence her cry, “I want this power!”

Permit me to add this few words to her cry, “Lord, You can’t do this to me. You know how desperate I am for the power of the Holy Spirit You have been pouring out through Your servant. Lord, he is concluding his assignment in our city and I still don’t have this power. Lord, I want this power badly. And you just must let me have it”.

Her cry is not different from that of Simon the sorcerer; yes, the man most preachers have painted in bad light for his hunger for divine power -
When Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power. "Let me have this power, too," he exclaimed, "so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!" Acts 8:18-19 NLT

I bet that if I asked this woman for anything she could afford for this power, she would give it. Such was her hunger for power that she cared less about her pregnant state as she wept, mourned and rolled on the floor as if she lost her husband to the cold hands of death. Her darling husband was not left out in this quest as he sat in a corner with his youngest baby in hand drenched in the tears that flowed freely from his cheeks.

It is at this point of quest that some money-monger preachers ask people to pay some money and buy some special things to receive supernatural power. A pastor in Port Harcourt told how he paid $10,000 to a great bishop so that he can receive the power for church growth. There are those who ate some things and carried out rigorous exercises that they may receive power. There are also those who have been lured into secret societies in their hunger for God’s power.
I totally condemn all other practices that are different from receiving the power of the Holy Spirit through faith in a biblical prescribed process but I cannot fail to appreciate the genuine hunger in the heart of Simon the sorcerer and the woman in Suleja. I believe that the Holy Spirit see things the same way because at a time I observed that she became quiet and as she stood up from where she was lying, I knew she got what she wanted.

The problem with my generation of ministers is that many of us look for the things the POWER can give, not the power. That could be the only reason why some are ready to do anything, even things they know very well that the Holy Spirit will never permit them to do.

Some years back, a witch-doctor in a community close to where I live in Port Harcourt got five pastors arrested by the police because they refused to pay him for the “power” he gave them to make their churches grow. Let’s ignore the question of why the police did not first arrest the witch-doctor and concentrate on why would one preaching from the bible go to satan for power. I am witness to the fact that these evil men always boast that all the great servants of God go to them for power. I have said before, that this is same as saying that God is dead, because if God were alive He will empower His servants. And He did, does and will do in the future.

When people can’t lay hand on this POWER they resort to some things which the Apostles said they never wanted.

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power 1 Cor 2:4-5 NIV

1. Words of Wisdom – Some claim that they are not called to demonstrate healing power but just to “TALK”.

2. Persuasive Words – This is where the motivational speakers come in

3. Carefully invented stories – This is where those “who died went to heaven and hellfire and then returned” come in. They try to manipulate people through fear to repent.

We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty 2 Peter 1:16 NIV

Sorry to say, these are factors we use today, in the place of demonstration of genuine power of the Holy Spirit.

Yet, let me say here, nothing can take the place of the real power of God

A NEW MOVE OF GOD
Hallelujah!

We must agree that the world today and its system is only operating in the faded glory of the past, hence we see a lot of counterfeits. If you also take a look at your life, family, business and ministry, you will be lying to yourself if you say you do not need a new move of God.

The question is how exactly are we expecting this new move? There is no better way to answer that question than to look around ourselves and ask one question; what has God made available to resolve all the challenges of life? What has God made available to confront the powers of darkness encroaching our space? What will be God’s response to the powerlessness in the Church? When God speaks and decides to move what brings about the manifestation?

Now let us look at this scripture.

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV

We can sum up in three words how God expects to move again ‘HIS DIVINE POWER’ When God decides to move again in any system, generation, family, or ministry He releases a dimension of His Power. In your health; The Divine power, in your Family; the divine power, in your ministry; the divine power, even in your business; the divine power. It says that God’s Divine Power has made available everything we need for life. To experience the abundant life. It also makes available everything needed for godliness. That means you can participate in God’s divine nature and plan. So, if you begin to see death and ungodliness around you, it automatically depicts the absence of His Divine Power, thus, you need a new move of that power in your life. Can you lay your hands on your head and shout, Oh Lord I need another move of your Divine power in my Life’
I feel the power of God, and I hope you can connect to it at this moment you are reading this. When God moves it is His power that moves, and when God’s power moves, His power can cause men to move, and I mean even your enemies can move in your favor. If you believe it, shout a big amen! When His power moves, He can also stair you to move towards the direction of God’s purpose for your life. When His power moves, He can terminate satanic bondages and order in your life. Hmmm! When God’s power moves, He can move (now mention something that resonate with you; something that is a burden.)

I can tell you that if you are reading this now and there is a sickness or growth in any part of your body, I command they are moving out now because God’s power is moving right now in the name of Jesus.

It may be a demonic harassment, as you are reading this now, the power of God is moving, and those demons are fleeing by the power of God now.

I will be harvesting testimonies in the comment section, so check yourself and connect right now. If you need to read this post again, please do, because I meant it when I told you that this is a season of God’s new move. We need to experience the raw power of God. There will also be an instruction at the end of this post so make sure you read to the end.

We can’t continue to deceive ourselves that we are waiting for God, when your bible told you that everything you need for life and godliness is available by His divine power. Pastors hear me, you can’t accept a powerless ministry when your bible said that everything needed to participate in the divine nature of God is made available in His divine power. You don’t need to fake it or get mystic materials from the devil’s centers. Businessmen hear me, your business can’t continue to struggle when His divine power has made available everything you need for life. Parents hear me, your home and children can’t be running wayward when God’s divine power made everything needed to build a godly home and children available. Ahhh! Tap into this frequency.

But this divine power doesn’t just come, especially not on ignorance to Jesus. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. So, if you have not yet properly given your life to Christ, I’m sorry, but you can’t access anything in this divine power. If you have not yet acknowledged the call of God upon your life, you might be denied some certain depth of His divine power. So, it is not because His divine power didn’t make healing, salvation, deliverance, breakthrough, success or even power available, but you have not been able to equip yourself with the knowledge of Jesus. It is the level you know Jesus that you can fetch from in the Divine Power. Can you cry to Jesus, Lord Jesus reveal yourself to me in a new way. For you to experience a new move of God; the new move of His divine power, there has to be a new revelational knowledge of Jesus. You can not experience God’s power beyond the level you know Jesus. I don’t know if you know how to cry, can you cry to Jesus this moment, that in that situation you find yourself you want to know Him. Cry, tell Jesus you want to know Him in a new level of His glory and goodness.

Haaaa! Oh Lord Jesus, show your people another dimension of your glory and goodness!

Show this generation Jesus in a manner that will open us to a new move of the divine power!

Reeestooore Lord Jesus the knowledge of your glory and goodness!

Take men again to the mount of transfiguration so that we may behold a new glory!

For those who are waiting and expecting God’s promises, they are also tied to the new move of His divine power through a new knowledge of Jesus’ glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises.

So, we see, we cannot help but cry for a new move of God’s divine power.

JUST IMAGINE IF…

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 1 John 3:8 NIV

Just imagine that the Lord Jesus Christ did not cast out the demon from the man in the synagogue (Mark 1:23-27). That man would have remained a nuisance in that congregation, offending people and being hated by the people around him. Perhaps before the day He met Jesus Christ, he had been wondering why his life was in a bad state.

Imagine that the Lord Jesus Christ did not have an encounter with the demonized man at Gadara (Mark 5:120). He would have died in the tombs without fulfilling his destiny. We can learn something from him;

This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and in the hills, he would cry out and cut himself with stones. Mark 5:3-5 NIV

Despite his terrible state, he kept crying out night and day. It would appear that his state was a hopeless one, but heaven heard him and sent divine intervention.

If you are reading this now and you have been going through a difficult time, do not stop praying. Is it a spiritual or physical negative condition? Is it an emotional or health affliction? Is it with your business or your ministry? Do not stop crying out to God. Even if it appears that your prayers are not being heard, just keep praying night and day. Believe me, the God that encountered the demon-possessed man of Gadara will encounter you, in Jesus’ name.

Some have made the mistake of stopping going to church or joining in fellowship meetings. This is also wrong. The cause of this kind of withdrawal could be because some ministers of the gospel will make a jest of their problem when they do not have the solution. You will hear a preacher say something like, “If you are forty years old and you are not yet married, you are a failure. There is nothing like demon or witchcraft. If you know the word of God, your problems will not be there.” Some even accuse the victims of being the cause; 'because they do not have faith.'

There was a woman who had that kind of situation, but she kept coming.

And a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. Luke 13:11-13 NIV

For eighteen long years, she kept coming to the fellowship. Understand that this problem progressed from one stage to the other, and it appeared that coming to church was making things worse, but she kept coming. Things could get more frustrating if one belonged to a church where the minister saw preaching time as a privilege to show the congregants how much deep knowledge he has accumulated by reading books rather than seeing it as a time to allow God to use him to meet the needs of the people.

Here again we are presented with the need for traveling ministers. The Lord Jesus was there as a guest preacher.

Pastors, hear me: allowing visiting ministers on your pulpit does not mean that your own anointing has finished. You should only feel insecure if you have not done your job in your church, rather than block the people’s deliverance and blessings; humble yourself and connect with servants of God that can help you. Philip was anointed, but he still needed to invite Peter and John to minister the baptism of the Holy Spirit to his congregation in Samaria. (Acts 8:7-13)

Unfortunately, the synagogue ruler here became jealous. Instead of celebrating the woman’s healing, he spoke against it.

Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue ruler said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath." Luke 13:14 NIV

The Lord called him a hypocrite

The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?" Luke 13:15-16 NIV

Most of the arguments against travel or guest ministers are caused by jealousy. The people come to the church to meet God, but ministers have remained an obstacle in many cases. But I want to tell someone who is still trusting God for divine intervention: do not stop going to the place where God could encounter you. Just imagine if this woman stopped going to church because of the negative behaviors of church people.

In some congregations, once you walk in, you will feel the discrimination and the stigmatization. They treat you like, “What are you doing here? We don’t need people like you here”.

I walked into one church to spend a brief moment in prayer, but a church worker told me to go out because she wanted to lock the church and go home. At times it is the demons in such people that make them do this. They are too proud to ask for deliverance, and so they continue to be a nuisance in the midst of God’s people.

Your own problem may be such that makes you stink like the woman with twelve years of bleeding. Don’t stop going.

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. Mark 5:25-29 NIV

Hmmm!

This is another example of vandalized destiny; she was not only sick, but she had become bankrupt as a result of her encounter with doctors who exploited her situation. Imagine what her appearance would have been like due to her bleeding for twelve years. Her first challenge would be how people would look at her and distance themself from her. Then, there were many people there. Would Jesus Christ have the time to attend to her?

Despite it all, she still stepped out, and glory to God, she did not return the way she came. When I read my bible, I can only marvel at what would have been the end of all the lives of those people that Jesus Christ healed. It is heart-warming that He understood that there were many people in that condition and boldly invited them.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matt 11:28 NIV

The Lord Jesus Christ knows how tough life can be with all those challenges in your life, and the heavenly Father saw all the suffering of mankind, and our main text says that it was for this reason that Jesus Christ came. Jesus Christ came to destroy all the works of the devil. All those sicknesses, hardships, broken relationships, and crises in our businesses are summed up under one heading, “The works of the devil”.

It is in your interest to continue to hold to the Lord and to petition Him for His intervention in your life. What He did those days He will still do for you today.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Heb. 13:8 NIV

This will bring us to a very important principle concerning those who are in the gospel ministry. God’s purpose for calling you is to meet the needs of mankind the same way the Lord met them. God did not call you to teach mysteries or argue theology. God did not call you to raise the largest church denomination.

Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John 14:11-14 NIV

Jesus Christ has the intention that you represent Him in the face of the same kind of situations He solved. Jesus Christ expects you to help those who are suffering under demonic oppression and sicknesses. He expects you to help them with answers to the challenges of life. No matter how well you interpret the bible and how many church buildings you have erected, you have not represented the Lord Jesus Christ if people’s sorrows are not turned into joy after they have encountered your ministry. That is what you are called to do. He also declared His readiness to answer your prayers in the course of your representing Him. When your prayers are always about your selfish needs, you are operating outside the purpose of the anointing in your life. This could be the reason you are not seeing many results in your ministry and prayers.

This is what the devil wants too. He achieves this by presenting before the genuine servants of God the fake testimonies of fake prophets. This makes the genuine servants of God begin to question their effectiveness in God’s service. Some of them even go to the fake prophets for guidance in ministry. In this way, some genuine servants of God have lost their original fire and are living in confusion.

I bring you good news today!

'I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm—my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you. Joel 2:25-26 NIV.

God is at work already in your life as you are reading this book. Shout aloud, AMEN!

And you, that is asking, “Will God ever intervene in my life?”

I declare to you that God is on your case now.

RECOVERING VANDALIZED DESTINIES - THIRD-PARTY FAITH

So, they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?" "From childhood," he answered. "It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." – Mark 9:20-22 NIV

We read the Bible, but only the Holy Spirit can bring us into the mind of God for the information we receive. The stories in the New Testament gospels tell us something most of us have not understood. Destiny wasters will continue to waste destinies until we, the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, stand up to our responsibilities to rescue them.

When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ. Luke 4:40-41 NIV

Take note that most of the people who were healed were brought to Jesus Christ. Is it not amazing that almost all the serious destiny wasters mentioned in the bible started working on their victims from birth? That means that right from the womb there were forces who recognized the God-given bright future that they carried and intensified efforts to disrupt it. This should be a wake-up call to parents, and it is theologically safe to say that if the parents of these people were alert, the lives of their children would have been better. We saw this play out in the account of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the first two chapters of the gospel of Matthew, it is recorded that angels spoke to Joseph five times through his dreams, and on each occasion, he needed to take action to safeguard the life of the baby messiah. The child indeed was God incarnate; He still faced the danger of a truncated destiny if his human foster father failed in his duty. A great number of children were lost through abortion when their father abandoned their mother, who resorted to abortion out of fear. The place of such children in the course of life became empty, and humanity is not aware of why some things are not able to connect.

Even after birth, destiny wasters continue to operate. Our main text puts before us the struggle a father faced in trying to save the destiny of his son. This father hopelessly watched as a demonic destiny waster strategically targeted to kill his son. Today we will call it epilepsy, but we now see that it was a destiny-wasting demon. The boy was too young to fight for himself or even to believe God for his own deliverance. "It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him."

Thank God for the resilience of this father.

"It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." “‘If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" Mark 9:22-24 NIV

This is what we refer to as third-party faith; that means his father’s faith was credited to the son in order to save his life. Every parent needs to read this again. You cannot leave your child in the hands of the government or corrupt educational systems. You must accept responsibility for the future of your children and fight to save them from destiny-wasters of any kind.

We find a mother who also stood up to fight for the destiny of her daughter by employing the same kind of third-party faith.

A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon possession." The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour. Matt 15:22-28 NIV

Her daughter was delivered from demons because her mother was a woman of great faith. We cannot allow the devil to waste the destiny of our beloved family members. Has your child fallen for drugs or violent living? You can have faith for that child to be saved and delivered from the power of satan.

Even friends can stand up to have third-party faith for one another when someone is too weak to exercise their own faith.

Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven." Luke 5:18-20 NIV

It was not the faith of the sick man that Jesus Christ saw but that of his friends. We can have faith for our distant relations as Abraham had for Lot and the cities of S***m and Gomorrah. We can have faith for our villages and communities through intercession.

"When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chron 7:13-14 NIV

Unfortunately, these days most believers are not thinking of unreached territories where the gospel is yet to enter. I want you to know that from the place of your private prayer, you can believe on their account for the light of the gospel to enter.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. Ps 2:8 NIV

I heard this testimony directly from the Lord’s servant, James Ukaegbu, of blessed memory. Although he had lived a committed Christian life as a minister of the gospel and one of the greatest leaders the Presbyterian Church has had in Nigeria, his sons were not showing interest in the Christian faith. One day he decided to employ what I now know as third-party faith.

Besides praying for them in his private moments, he decided to give offerings and sow seed faith in their names in every fellowship meeting he went to. That is, each time he would give an offering in their name as if they were the ones giving it. The good news is that all these children became servants of God while he was alive.

Now, let the Holy Spirit guide your mind; do you have anyone whom you believe needs faith to be saved, healed, or delivered? You can have third-party faith for such. Even if the person is living far away, you can stand up in prayer for him or her. The person may not be a good believer in the Lord; join your faith to his own faith and ask the Lord to move in. You can have third-party faith for friends.

Some important things to note concerning Third-Party Faith.

You cannot bless someone you hate or refuse to forgive. In most cases, the person you are trying to support would have hurt you in the past. You must forgive the person if you want a result. In the case where you are trusting God for someone’s healing or deliverance, you must overlook every offensive side of the person’s condition. Imagine carrying someone to a prayer meeting, and you still have to open the roof to let him down. This is faith driven by love. Remember that you are throwing your faith over the person like a garment.

However, you cannot have faith for someone who can do it on his own but turns it down. You can only ask the Holy Spirit to reach him. Parents have God-given responsibility and authority over their children, but you cannot force them to accept Christ. Spouses have God-given responsibility over one another. This can be employed, but you must trust the Holy Spirit to do the rest. Christians and Christian leaders have mutual responsibility for each other. Pastors can exercise third-party faith over their members in the course of prayers.

You can carry out one or more of the following prophetic actions on the person’s account in the following ways.

1. Put on the person’s clothes and pray as if you are him or her
2. Bring out his or her picture and pray in that person’s name
3. Lie on the person’s bed or step into his shoes in the course of prayers
4. Raise a prophetic seed-faith and send it in that person’s name.
5. It should not be a one-time thing.

Let me conclude on this subject by declaring to you that I can exercise third-party faith over all my members and online followers.

As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her, and he said, "Don't cry." Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" This widow had lost all hope and faith because her son was already dead, and she was just escorting the co**se for burial. Her son could not have his own faith because he was dead, but the Lord exercised third-party faith to raise him back to life.

Glory to Jesus Christ. It is good to know that God is still at work today. God can still turn your mourning into dancing.
