MEMORISE:
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Matthew 15:28

READ: Mark 10:46 -52

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

MESSAGE
You can touch God with your prayers. In our Bible reading for today. Bartimaeus cried until Jesus stood still, Jesus was touched by Bartimaeus persistently calling Him.

There are gentlemanly prayers - which people pray softly, sophisticatedly, with big grammar and careful diction.

There are also prayers that can touch God - usually persistent in nature.

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus gave an example of a prayer that would definitely touch God. In fact, He said the prayer would touch even a wicked fellow, not to mention God.

Some people pray for a while and stop when they haven't gotten a miracle. Why are you stopping? Do you have another option apart from God? I have had the privilege of going to see some Presidents and when you get there you cannot be in a hurry.

You get there before the time of appointment that was given to you, yet you may have to wait for some time before you get to see the President. On some occasions, it is the President who wanted to see me, yet l had to wait.

How can you then go before the President of Presidents and say because He hasn't attended to your request yet, you want to leave? If you leave, who will be affected? God remains God whether you pray or not, but you are nothing without Him. When you tarry in the place of prayer, He is touched and then gives you whatever you want.

In Matthew 15:22-28 we read the story of a woman who kept crying to Jesus to heal her daughter. She cried so much that Jesus' disciples were irritated and asked Him to,send her away.

This did not stop her from praying. At last, Jesus was touched and she got her miracle. How desperate are you to get your miracle? If you are really desperate, it will show in the way you pray.

It will show in how long you pray. Many people are still struggling with their problems because they stopped praying too early. Let that not be your story.

KEY POINT
If you want to touch God with your prayers, then you have to pray persistently.

HYMN 22: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

4 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight.
This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise
To seize the everlasting prize,
And shout, while passing through the air,
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of pray

*THEME: FEAR GOD*

MEMORISE:
And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Job 28:28

READ: Psalms 25:14

14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

MESSAGE
I have heard some funny theories concerning the fear of God.

Some people believe that when the Bible says, "Fear God", it doesn't really mean you should fear Him, it actually means that you should reverence Him. I don't know which Bible they are reading, but my Bible says, "Fear God", period.

Hebrews 12:29 says that He is a consuming fire. Who is not afraid of fire? Even a mad dog, when he sees fire, will run. The Bible says in proverbs 1:7 that:

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7

The Bible verse above is saying that if there is any iota of wisdom in you at all, you will fear this God. Thus, if you see someone who doesn't fear God yet claims to be wise, he is only deceiving himself.

Now my question to you is: do you fear God? I want you to think about that question very well before you answer. Do you really fear Him? If you truly fear Him, you will not be disobeying His commandments.

‘Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD and depart from evil.’
Proverbs 3:7

The moment you dip your hands into sin. You are telling God that you don't fear Him, that you are wise in your own eyes. It may look as if God is powerless now because you committed sin and He did nothing, but l advise you to stop it because His wrath is coming for all sinners.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Romans 1:18

Don't be among fools who have chosen not to fear God.

You want to be wise? You want God to share secrets with you? You want to avoid God's wrath? Fear Him and show this in your complete and prompt obedience to His word.

KEY POINT
If you have any iota of wisdom at all, you will fear God and stay away from sin henceforth.

HYMN 19: O WORSHIP THE KING ALL GLORIOUS ABOVE

1 O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

2 O tell of his might and sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

3 Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

4 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

5 O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,
whom angels delight to worship above!
Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,
in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

READ: John 5:1-11

1. After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

3. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

4. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

5. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

11. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

MEMORISE:

MESSAGE
One other way by which demons operate is what is called suppression.

Suppression is when the fellow being tormented is already down and the enemy is making sure he doesnt rise. The man at the pool of Bethesda was beside it, hoping to get his healing.

Every year, he saw people get healed, yet he remained on the same spot. There are people who have been on the same spot for several years spiritually – in their careers, financially and so on. That suppression is over now, in Jesus name.

Many people take it lightly when they have been on the same spot for years. They dont realise that they are giving an opportunity to demons to suppress them.

The day the veil is removed from their eyes and they fight back, then they will move forward. You will move forward in Jesus name. The man at the pool of Bethesda was in front of the Lord Jesus Christ who could heal him, yet he didnt ask for healing. I decree that the Lord will move you forward Himself today. You will begin to soar high, in Jesus name.

When I was studying for my Masters of Science at the University of Lagos, there was a man there who was an assistant lecturer.

After completing my studies, I became a staff of the University, obtained my Ph.D. and got promoted to a higher level than this man. That mans experience is a classic case of suppression. The solution to suppression is in Gods anointing.

Isaiah 10:27 says that anointing will break the yoke that the devil puts on a person to limit his movement. The man at the pool of Bethesda stayed there because he wanted to contact the anointing that flowed there once a year. Thank God he met the anointed One Himself and that day, the yoke was broken.

In Acts 3:2-11 , on the day the man at the Beautiful Gate came in contact with the anointing, he began walking and leaping and praising God. Blind Bartimaeus had been in the same spot for many years too but screamed at the top of his voice for Jesus to have mercy on him. He did not stop until the Lord had mercy on him and broke the yoke of the devil in his life.

ACTION POINT:
Cry to God for mercy and ask Him to break the yoke of stagnation in your life.

HYMN 20: ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before;
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go.

CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.

2. At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise:
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.

3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.

4. Crowns and thrones may perish
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never
‘Gainst the Church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise
And that cannot fail.

5. Onward then, ye people,
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
“Glory, praise and honour,
Unto Christ the King”,
This, through countless ages,
Men and angels sing.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Psalms 42:11

MESSAGE
Another operation of the devil is what is called depression. Depression is not just sadness. The word depress can be simply described as to push down. When someone is depressed, he wont be able to pull himself together to do anything.

The devil makes a person depressed by manipulating the fellows perspective of things. He continually whispers lies into the fellows ears to make them see the situation as bigger and worse than it actually is.If however, you let God show you the path of life, you will always experience fullness of joy in His presence (Psalms 16:11 ).

The best solution to depression is hearing the voice of God. When the devil starts making you feel depressed, get into Gods presence and dont leave until you hear
His voice.Psalms 119:130 says "the entrance of His word brings light".

As His word enters your spirit, it sheds light on that thing that the devil was using to press you down. You suddenly see that what you called a mountain was just a stepping-stone.

Read your Bible and begin to pray in the Spirit. Soon, you will begin to feel a kind of joy that cannot be explained. Gods presence also brings rest from all troubles.

Exodus 33:14 says:

“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”

God Himself is calling on you to seek His face when you are troubled. He is yearning for fellowship with you. When you dont have fellowship with God, the devil gets the opportunity to press you down with his own voice.

Your confession must be like that of the Psalmist in Psalms 27:8

“When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.”

In Jeremiah 29:13 , God says you will seek Him and find Him when you seek Him with all your heart.

As you surrender to seeking God with all your heart from today, depression is banished from your life in Jesus name.

PRAYER POINT
Father, drown every voice of the devil in my ears and amplify Your voice in my heart, in Jesus name.

8. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

10. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

13. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

14. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

MESSAGE
It’s very frightful thing to be defenseless in a hostile world. When a man is sick, he runs to the doctor for defence but what do you do if the doctor says There’s nothing more we can do for you.

If a man is in financial problems, he may run to the bank with the hope of borrowing some money to come out of the mess he is in; but what would he do if the bank says they cannot help him? It’s a terrible thing to feel forsaken by relatives and friends, but the worst kind of helplessness comes when the Pastor says, “I have prayed all the prayers I know and there’s nothing more I can do for you”.

Thank God that at that moment, there is somebody who is called the Defence of the defenceless.

Psalms 46:1 says:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

No matter how big any trouble is, God is there to defend you.

Once in a while, we face opponents that are too big for us to handle on our own. At such times when we feel defenceless, God is always there to defend us, so long as we belong to Him.

During one of our Holy Ghost Services, God told me to tell someone in the congregation that he should not worry, he will laugh last.

Apparently, there was a young man in the congregation who had just received a disengagement letter in his workplace.

He came from the office straight to the programme with that letter, crying for God to help him.

By Monday, all those who ganged up against him to be sacked were sacked and he was promoted.

In John 10:11 He is called the Good Shepherd. John 10:12 says:

“But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.”

The hireling referred to in the Bible reading for today is the devil. If you put yourself under his care, when the troubles of life come at you like wolves, he will leave you alone.

Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you will come under the protection of the Good Shepherd, and He will defend you whenever an enemy comes against you.

REFLECTION:
Are you under the protection of Christ?

In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,

3. Not a burden we bear,

But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove

Until all on the altar we lay;

5. Then in fellowship sweet

2. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

3. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6. But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7. Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8. And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9. Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

MESSAGE
In Mark 2:1-12, we read the story of a man paralyzed from the neck downwards.

That is a situation far beyond the scope of medicine. He was incurable, but when this man got in contact with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Curer of the incurable, his paralysis was gone within seconds.

God bless all doctors, but many a time, people go to the doctor and he or she looks at their situation and says, Sorry, there is nothing we can do to help. There is however a Healer who is greater than any doctor and can change the medical report.

On His behalf now, I am pronouncing that any negative report you have received from a doctor is changed in your favour in Jesus name.

Heard a testimony that made me want to jump and dance recklessly. The testifier said that a nail pierced his eye and the doctor told him nothing could be done to make him see with it again.

The Curer of the incurable turned that report around and three days after he was told that he would never see again, he started seeing. Doctors can only try to repair body parts. My Daddy does not have to repair; He replaces body parts.

Thus, when a part of the body is damaged beyond repair, the Curer of the incurable steps in with a replacement without leaving any traces that the fellow was ever sick.

In the olden days, leprosy was incurable; even today, if you see a l***r that has been healed, you would see traces of the leprosy because the fingers, toes and maybe even ear lobes would have been gone.

However, when my God cleansed Naaman in 2 Kings 5:14, his skin came back to him like that of a newborn baby.

I decree, every medical report that is contrary to your joy and well-being shall be turned around in the name of Jesus.

Jesus Christ can cure the incurable when you call on Him with a pure heart, but isn’t it better if you never fall sick at all? If the Curer of the incurable lives inside you, if sickness is coming into your body, it will be repelled by the power of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 3:20 says He is standing at the door of your heart right now, knocking and waiting for you to open up your heart to Him.

You may say, I have already given my life to Christ, why then has God not healed me? Check very well, are you really living holy? Are you liv
