UNDERSTANDING THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION (PT 2)
BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 5:9; ACTS 24:16; 2CORINTHIANS 5:18-20; 1TIMOTHY 2:5
"Now all things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the Ministry of Reconciliation" 2Corinthians 5:18(NKJV).
The Ministry of Reconciliation is one of the most critical callings of every Christian believer. As we established in the previous study, conflict resolution can only be effective if the reconciler has a healthy relationship with both agrieved parties. This is the only way he can leverage on his influence over them during the reconciliatory process. As disciples of the "Prince of Peace." (Isa. 9:6b), we must be willing to become princes of peace who place a high premium on reconciliation.
In order to embrace the Ministry of Reconciliation, the onus lies upon us to understand the Heart of the Master regarding this matter: "Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire Mercy and not Sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance" Matt. 9:10-13(NKJV). Consider this Truth: It is absolutely impossible to effectively reach out to someone you don't feel genuine concern for. Jesus was accessable to sinners because He was bent on reconciling them to God the Father through His Ultimate Sacrifice.
