Principles That Bring About Good Success
Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Success isn’t an accident. It’s the result of principles lived out daily. Here are 4 timeless principles that will position you for good success the kind that honors God and lasts:
1. Keep At It: The Power of Persistence
Proverbs 20:5 “The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
Resistance will come. Delays will come. Doors will close. But quitters never win, and winners never quit.
The story of Sony Electronics reminds us of this. From a small radio repair shop in 1946 to creating the Walkman, PlayStation, and camera sensors the whole world uses. Sony met failure, losses, and criticism. They could have stopped. But they kept at it. They adapted, they rebuilt, and they focused.
For you to be successful in your field, you must develop self-reliance and inner motivation. Don’t wait for motivation. Be the one who shows up even when no one is clapping. Persistence turns ordinary people into extraordinary results.
2. What Do You Have In You? Unlock Your Potential
Proverbs 20:5 “Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water...”
You are not empty. God has deposited something in you. Your potential is the gateway to success.
Inside of you are ideas, talents, gifts, and experiences that the world needs. Stop comparing and start excavating. Ask yourself: What am I naturally good at? What problem can I solve? What has God placed in my hands?
Your breakthrough is tied to what’s already in you. Don’t despise small beginnings.
3. There Is Gold In You: Use It Before It Goes Dormant
Matthew 25:14-30, 2 Timothy 1:6 “Fan into flame the gift of God...”
Gold that is not mined stays buried. Talent that is not used becomes dormant.
Dr. Shula said, “There is no failure in life except you are not trying.”
God will not do for you what He has empowered you to do. Develop what is within you. Learn a skill. Take a course. Start that business. Write that book.
And remember: work smart, not just hard. Strategy + effort = results. Use your potential now, because unused gifts rust. The world is waiting for the gold in you.
4. Discipline Yourself: Master Yourself First
Proverbs 16:25,James 3:2, “For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man...”
Success without discipline is temporary.
Discipline your emotions, don’t make decisions in anger.
Discipline your finances -spend with purpose, save with vision.
Discipline your words -successful people don’t speak negatively. Life and death are in the tongue.
Discipline your appetite - for food, for distraction, for shortcuts.
Discipline your mind- what you feed it daily becomes who you become.
Mental discipline is what separates those who dream from those who do. Control yourself, and you’ll begin to control your future.
