A Silent War Against Innocent Life

In the story of humanity, there is no greater treasure than life itself. It is the breath of existence, the spark of creation, and the promise of tomorrow. Yet, in our modern world, this treasure has come under a silent and deadly assault, a war waged not with guns or bombs, but with cold decisions and hidden acts. This war is called abortion.

Abortion has been dressed up in the language of choice, rights, and progress. But behind the rhetoric lies a chilling reality: the deliberate ending of a life that has no voice, no defense, and no chance to fight back. The unborn child, nestled in the safest place intended by nature, the mother’s womb, has become the most vulnerable victim of human cruelty.

This silent war is not only against the innocent child but also against the very foundation of society. Every child denied life is a future denied hope, a destiny erased before it could even unfold. Great minds, future leaders, healers, and innovators are extinguished before they take their first breath. It is not just the child that is lost, but humanity itself that is robbed.

The tragedy does not end there. The mother, often misled into believing abortion is freedom, carries scars, emotional, spiritual, and sometimes physical, that cannot be erased. A society that normalizes such acts numbs itself to compassion, justice, and the sanctity of life.

This war is silent because its victims cannot scream. They cannot write, protest, or plead for mercy. Their absence is their only cry. And unless humanity awakens to the gravity of this evil, the blood of the innocent will continue to stain our generation.

To defend life is to defend the essence of our humanity. We must be the voices for the voiceless, the strength for the powerless, and the hope for the hopeless. Let us not be deceived by the polished arguments of convenience and false liberty. Life is sacred, and to protect it is not an option, it is a duty.

The silent war against innocent life must end. And it begins with courage: the courage to speak the truth, to uphold morality, and to defend the defenseless.

WHAT IS LIFE WITHOUT GOD?

Today I had an experience that left me deeply reflecting on life. At the entrance of the mortuary, I saw a note boldly written: “We were once like you.”

After finishing what took me there, on my way out I saw another note that said: “You will soon join us.”

I stood there quietly and asked myself, what is this life really all about?

We chase wealth, power, and positions… but in the end, death humbles everyone. Life is short, and no matter how long we live, we will all one day answer the call.

So while we still breathe, let’s learn to live right, love one another, forgive, and make peace with God. Because everything else fades, but the legacy we leave and our relationship with our Creator remain eternal.
May the souls of Rev fr Paul Tim and Fr Michael Iorliam and all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Show Me Your Friend and I Will Tell You Who You Are"--: A Reflection

The saying "Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are" is more than just a popular quote, it’s a powerful truth about human influence and identity. It suggests that the people we surround ourselves with reflect our values, mindset, and direction in life. Our friends don't just walk beside us; they often shape us in ways we don’t immediately notice.

Friendship is one of the closest forms of influence. If your friends are focused, driven, and respectful, chances are, you’re walking in that same path or at least striving to. On the other hand, if your friends are careless, dishonest, or lazy, it becomes easier for you to absorb those same behaviors, even unconsciously. That’s why many elders and mentors caution youth to be careful who they call “friend.”

The people you spend time with affect your thinking, decisions, habits, and ultimately, your character. That’s why it’s important to choose friends who challenge you to grow, support your goals, and bring peace, not problems. Real friends bring out the best in you, they don’t drag you down or lead you into trouble.

In essence, this quote is a reminder that while we may claim to be our own person, the company we keep often tells a deeper story about who we truly are. So if you want to change your life, sometimes the first step is to check your circle. Are they building you up, or holding you back?

Choose wisely. Because your friend might just be a mirror showing the world who you really are.

THE GRAVE KNOWS NO STATUS

In the end, the earth swallows us all, rich or poor, powerful or powerless. The grave does not recognize the glitter of your gold, the weight of your titles, or the prestige of your connections. It does not care whether you were born into royalty or raised in the gutters. What matters then is not how high you stood above others, but how deeply you touched lives.

Yet, in this life, we spend so much time separating ourselves. Some people look down on others simply because they have more, more money, more influence, more education, or more opportunity. They forget that the breath they have today is not a guarantee for tomorrow. They forget that time humbles everyone eventually, and the most expensive coffin still lies in the same dirt as the simplest one.

Life should be about lifting others, not stepping on them. About compassion, not comparison. Every person you ignore, insult, or oppress is just as human as you are flesh blood, and breath. And when we all return to dust, our legacies will be measured not by how much we had, but by how much we gave and how we made others feel.

The grave knows no status. So why should we spend our short time on earth acting as if we are gods over others?

One day, silence will cover us. Our names may fade, our positions may be forgotten, but the kindness we showed, or failed to show, will live on in the hearts of others.

So while you're still breathing, live a life that speaks for you even in the silence of the grave. Use your blessings to bless others. Treat people with respect, no matter their background. Because in the end, all of us lie equal beneath the soil, and only a meaningful life will rise above it.

WHY DO CATHOLICS CROSS THEIR FOREHEAD, LIPS & HEART BEFORE THE GOSPEL IS PROCLAIMED AT MASS?

At the forehead "May your word be understood".

At the lips "May your word be spoken"

And at the chest "May your word be stored in our hearts".

This gesture of signing ourselves with the Cross is a way of praying, “May the Lord be in my mind, on my lips and in my heart.” It is said prior to the reading of the Gospel as a way of prayerfully inviting Christ to come to us in these ways as His sacred Word is proclaimed.

The hearing of the Gospel must change our minds, it must be proclaimed by our lips, and it must affect our heart. By heart we especially mean our will, affections, emotions and passions.

MY CATHOLIC FAITH: WHAT IS A DALMATIC AND WHY IS IT USED BY DEACONS IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?

INTRODUCTION
According to the General Instructions on the Roman Missal, “The vestment proper to the deacon is the dalmatic, worn over alb and stole.” (GIRM 338). What then is a Dalmatic and why is it used by Deacons in the Catholic Church?

WHAT IS A DALMATIC?
A Dalmatic is an outer liturgical garment worn by a deacon at Mass and in solemn processions. It has wide short sleeves, reaches to the knees, and is open at the sides. It is of the same material and color as the vestments of the celebrant.

BRIEF ORIGIN OF THE DALMATIC
At first the dalmatic, which was originally longer, reaching the heels, and more ample than today, was not well received, being seen as somewhat effeminate. Later, however, it became popular among Roman senators and imperial officials as a substitute for the toga and was even used as the proper garb for the consecration of the emperor. It was introduced from Dalmatia (hence its name) to Rome as a secular garment in the reign of Diocletian.

From this it became a habit proper to the pope and to bishops. Finally it was introduced as a vestment for the deacons of Rome by Pope Sylvester I in the fourth century and gradually became their proper vestment.

WHY DO DEACONS WEAR THE DALMATIC AND WHAT IS ITS SYMBOLISM?
The word Deacon derives from the Greek diakonia, meaning “service,” thereby indicating that a deacon is called like Christ to be a servant. The Order of Deacon has three essential functions: the proclamation of the Gospel, the service of the liturgy, and the administration of charitable works.

In particular, the deacon may assist the Bishop and the Priests in a variety of liturgical functions: Deacons may baptize, witness the exchange of vows and bless marriages, distribute Holy Communion, impart benediction with the Blessed Sacrament, bring Viaticum to the dying, read Sacred Scripture to the faithful and especially proclaim the Gospel.
