With total surrender to the will of God and firm faith in the Resurrection of our Lord, we commiserate with the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki over the demise of their beloved Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Chukwu, who passed on at the age of 60. He slept in the Lord on Friday, 10 April 2026. May he find eternal rest with our Saviour and rise with Him in glory on the Resurrection morning. Amen. 🙏

We remain united in prayer with the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki and the entire Catholic faithful, asking God to grant them strength and consolation during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Bishop Peter Chukwu. We love you, but God loves you more. 🕊️

DAY 9: Mother of Perpetual Help, Thank You for Your Intercession

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Scripture (Philippians 4:6)
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

Reflection
Today is not only a day of asking.
It is a day of gratitude. Even before the miracle manifests, we thank God. Mary has prayed with us through this journey. Our Lady of Perpetual Help is not a Mother who abandons her children.
Today we conclude with thanksgiving and confidence.

Prayer

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Mother of Jesus and my dear Mother,
today I come to you with gratitude.

Thank you for staying with me.
Thank you for praying for me.
Thank you for carrying my intentions to the throne of grace.

Mary, I believe my prayers are answered.
I believe God has heard me.
I believe my tears will not be wasted.
I believe my blessing is on the way.

Mother of Perpetual Help,
as I end this novena, do not leave me.
Remain in my life.
Remain in my home.
Remain in my heart.

Let the power of God go ahead of me.
Let God’s favour speak for me.
Let God’s mercy locate me.

Reflection
In this world, dangers are many,
seen and unseen.
But God does not leave His children exposed.
Mary is a Mother who covers.
She shields her children with love and prayer.
Today we ask Our Lady of Perpetual Help: Mother, protect me and my family.

Prayer

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Mother of protection and refuge,
today I come under your mantle.

Mary, keep me safe.
Keep my family safe.
Keep my home safe.
Keep my work safe.

Protect me from accidents.
Protect me from evil people.
Protect me from spiritual attacks.
Protect me from sickness and sudden danger.

Mother of Perpetual Help,
cover my going out and my coming in.
Cover my journey, by road, by air, by water.
Cover my day and cover my night.

Wherever I am not present, be present for me.

Reflection
Sometimes life drains joy from a person.
Disappointments, losses, rejection, and delay can make the heart heavy.
But Mary is a Mother who brings consolation.
Today, we ask Our Lady of Perpetual Help: Mother, restore my joy again.

Prayer

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Mother of comfort and joy,
today I come to you with a heavy heart.

Mary, restore my happiness.
Restore my smile.
Restore my peace.
Restore my inner strength.

Whatever has stolen my joy
pain, fear, shame, rejection, failure
let it lose its power over me.

Mother of Perpetual Help,
wipe away my tears.

“For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, says the Lord.”

Reflection
Many people are smiling outside but bleeding inside. Some wounds are physical. Some are emotional. Some are spiritual. Mary is a tender Mother, she understands pain. Today we bring every wound to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and ask: Mother, obtain healing for me.

Prayer
Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Mother of mercy and compassion,
today I come to you with my wounds.

Mary, heal me.
Heal my body where I feel pain.
Heal my mind where I feel pressure.
Heal my heart where I feel rejection.

If I am carrying sorrow, remove it.
If I am carrying bitterness, uproot it.
If I am carrying regret, wash it away.

Mother of Perpetual Help,
touch my life with mercy.
Bring the healing power of Jesus into my situation.
Let the Blood of Jesus cleanse me deeply.

Reflection
Some battles are too heavy for human strength.
Some enemies are hidden. Some attacks are spiritual. But Mary is not just a Mother, she is also a powerful intercessor.
Today, we run to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and ask: Mother, fight for me.

Prayer

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
mighty Mother of God,
today I come to you with my battles.

Some fights are in my family.
Some are in my finances.
Some are in my health.
Some are in my destiny.

Mary, arise and help me.
Stand by me as you stood by Jesus.
Defend me against every evil plan.

“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.”

Reflection (Short)
Mary is full of grace.
Where she enters, favour follows.
The same God who lifted Mary and honoured her, can lift you too.
Today we pray: May every closed door open, may every delay turn into blessing, and may divine favour speak for us.

Prayer

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
Mother full of grace,
I come to you today with hope in my heart.

You are loved by God.
You are honoured in heaven.
You are blessed among women.
And because you are my Mother, I know you can speak for me.

Mary, obtain favour for me.
Let favour locate me.
Let favour announce me.
Let favour recommend me where my name is not known.

If there are doors locked against me, open them.
