Topic: Faith over fear
Text: Isaiah 41:8-13
Introduction
God has work here on the face of the earth for which He desires to have it done as He has purposed before the creation of this physical earth. This work is not done by angels but by men and women whom the Lord usually secure by choosing them out of the majority of men on earth.
Because this has to be by choice must often those whom He has chosen tend to fear looking at who they are or were in comparison to the work ahead of them to carry it out.
Aside from this the devil also is cunning; he also brings fear in a subtle way to prevent them from accomplishing God’s assigned task to His own people.
Since God’s work must be done as He has purposed it in heaven, He often times come along side these men to strengthen them: ‘but you, O Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, you the descendant of Abraham My friend. I took you from the end of the earth, from the farthest corners I called you. I said you are My servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you.
God seems to be giving us the substance for which we are not to fear: ‘I have chosen you; I took you from the ends of the earth, I called you, I said you are my servant, I have chosen you and have not rejected you’. To crown it all “I am with you”.
Therefore, in this study we are going to examine the word of God deliberately to find out what God usually do to the vessel that He has chosen in order for such a man to carry out His purpose on earth. It is our prayer that your heart will be open as we study together for us to know His mind in this season.
Discussion
What is the meaning of “faith over fear”?
What does, do not yield to fear means. And why are we not to yield to it? Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 23:4, Psalm 27:1; 118:6, Num. 13:28; 13:32-33.
Consider the examples of these men below, discuss how did God helped them before the unset of their journey with Him: Moses (Exo. 3:9-12; 4:10-13), Joshua (Jos. 1:2-7; 9), Isaiah (Isa. 6:1-8), Jeremiah (Jer. 1:4-10; 51:19-23)
What practical steps can we take to choose faith over fear? Romans 10:17, Proverbs 3:5–6
What can you say has been your experience in this. How did the story of their lives encourage to have ‘faith over fear?’
