TEXT: AMOS 3:8–13
TOPIC: WHAT DO UNBELIEVERS SEE IN YOUR LIFE?
Now, God turned His attention to the Northern Kingdom, Israel,
which capital was Samaria. He invited the Gentile nations to
witness against Israel and her evil way of life. How sad that
even the Gentile nations who were not given the law should be
invited to stand as a witness against the chosen people of
God. This indicates that even the Gentiles hated the level of
evil in Israel which became a reason to bring the name of the
Lord into disrepute. The world today is eager to see that
members of the Church live contrary to what they teach.
When
David forced Bathsheba into adultery and the subsequent
killing of her husband in the war front, his action brought
shame and disgrace to the name of the Lord before the
Gentiles and His enemies (2 Sam. 2:14). The rich, wealthy and
rulers in Israel rejected righteousness, justice and equity. They
chose idolatry, greed, oppression of the poor, injustice and
luxurious lifestyles at the expense of the vulnerable and needy.
Unfortunately, we still see the same scenario playing out in our
churches across denominations.
We are in generation where the poor and needy, the widows
and orphans are used for the pleasure and advantage of the
rich, wealthy and powerful. Most sad is when church leaders
turn the church into a wealth generation venture rather than a
center for salvation, provision of support, building lives in
holiness and righteousness and comfort.
QUESTION:
What testimonies do unbelievers have about your
life as a Christian?
PRAYER:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, grant me the grace and
power to remain faithful in my walk with You and committed
to holiness as a true witness, in Jesus name, Amen.
